yeah.. it'll be tough not buying them all. I too hope they do a non camo Dutch head. Glad I nhaven't bought any pred yet.. I've been waiting painfully for Pred 1.

I would love to have that figure to go with the predator himself.

I think if the posters pics were taken by Maulfan all of us here would have nothing bad to say. Dutch will look steller in person, pics can make or break a proto.

Thanks for the support, but I think the pictures are fine, I think there may be some intentional effort to hide likeness with paint to play their games when they don't have rights.

The dutch fig looks exactly like Schwarzenegger to me, i don't see a real flaw in the sculpt to be honest.

I think the likeness is clear in both sculpts. If the lack of non-camo versions is an attempt to hide that, it's not very effective.

Somehow, they don't have to go far hiding likenesses to get around things, just enough it could be questionable. Many of the ALIENS marines show the actors in the sculpts even with the goofy factory paint, but the paint makes them goofy enough apparently HT stayed out of trouble.

How is it possible to hide though? Its not rocket science to know that the product is based on the movie Aliens, isn't that itself enough to act on? What I mean is wouldn't the nature of the product be enough for lets say 20th Century Fox to take them to court over?

Ya, I'm talking about likeness rights. HT had rights to make Ellen Ripley for example, but not Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley. It may still be hard for HT to get likeness rights through 20th Century Fox as they own Aliens and Predator, so they may only have rights to make Dutch, not Arnie as Dutch. At least it is an Arnold Sculpt though, even if it takes a repaint, I feard Dutched would fall the way of Hot Toys Terminator 1 and not even resemble Arnold.

When actors sign up for movies they should have to sign a contract to allow figures to be made!. Sucks otherwise.

I think that sort of thing is probably fairly standard with any property where there is merchandising expectation, but in the 80's when Alien and Predator films were made, products featuring likenesses of this caliber were unheard of so contracts were handled differently.

I think these will actually have a bigger impact.
Not in the sense that they will maybe better figures but in the sense that all the crazy kids that love predator will go mad at there mums and dads for these.
As soon as avp hit alot of kids wanted everything to do with predator , thats just another reason these will sell out so fast.
With the facts that this is a cult classic sci-fi movie , these figures will rock and there will be an actual predator I sense this is the best thing to come from hot toys for a while just along the lines with the dark knight.

I think Billy looks spot on, but as stated by Andy and a few others the Arnold sculpt while not spot on is very good. I'm sure the likeness has to do with Arnold's likeness/legal issues, as I heard he cracks down pretty hard on people trying to use his image.

You never know, but whatever flaws there may be in that sculpt (and they are very minor) I find it very hard to believe that they are intentional for the purposes of getting around paying fees. Anyone looking at that sculpt would say it was Arnold, much more so than the Sideshow T-800 sculpt, for example. Whatever they've done in the past in this regard, I really think Hot Toys is going legit now.

By the way, these are the same price in Hong Kong dollars as the HT Marlon Brando figure, so I think we can expect prices of $125 - $130.

Why does it need a repaint to look like arnold? because the fig has slightly darker hair (wich isn't even true when you look at the smaller pics on the bottom of the article)? The only thing i can think of is the dark eyelining wich probably is just a choice in style.

I'm not saying it needs a repaint to look like Arnold, I just blended two thoughts together. I was trying to say, at least the sculpt looks like Arnold, which I feared it may not because of rights when they announced doing this line, and my other comment was to say I feel it needs a different paint job though.
