Even though this is going way off topic for the HT TDK photo thread, is it just me or does the paint on the face for the Medi not make you think of the smoothness from the Takara?

I don't want to feel like a broken record with the previous Takara discussions that happened recently. It's just the paint look and feels like as if it reminds me of the Takara paint.

You are totally correct vodoun, the paint of medicom is a bit on the cartoony side, and not on the realistic side, that's why I said that the medicom figures, even for realistic ones, tend to bring out some of their "medi-style" ... which is a bit of anime EVEN in the realistic figure releases.

However this batman figure is abit weird for them. If you have noticed, the sculpt this time is very realistic (check out the texture of the skin and also the wrinkles of the chin) BUT they slapped their usual anime-paint on it. However, this still makes medi a winner for the figure as for the overall "look" of it. The hottoys one is good for a bat-figure as a whole as it's super detailed, but for an accurate TDK one.. it might just lose out a bit which I am surprised (again, I have to state I am a hottoys support first and foremost)

Sanding it down wasn't to get rid of the beer belly. You can get rid of that by pushing the stomach in without taking the suit off.
Normally you are right, however, when you push the stomach in, again there are limited poses which you can pose him WITHOUT the belly getting out, this is always the problem of HT standard bodies and is just more obvious in the Bat-figure as he usually requires some "heroic" poses.

All this talk about customizing.....
has anyone forgotten all the major mods they had to go through for the HT TDK Bats?
Removing the rubber suit, sanding the stupid body so that he does not have a beer belly?

Oh and for the record, my HT TDK Bats broke his leg when I hardly even pose it. After doing all the mods on it, I got a little tired and just left it in my shelf as it is. When I finally took it out for inspection as I wanted to sell it off, it broke!!!

O why did it break kazukijun? mine's fine and I guess you are just abit unlucky this time round. I know you are a big medicom fan but remember hottoys quality control are pretty good too. So I guess we cannot take out the fact that they did put effort in this release but I think they focus too much on the detail FIRST instead of the overall look, therefore the figure turned out to be a bit weird proportioned.

It is my photo, and if you check my comments during this debate, while I don't think it's 100%, I do give Medicom the upper hand, even flawed, it's less flawed than the HT. Now that I care about a TDK Batman accurrately capturing Bale's film look, I like my HT less. When it first came out, I didn't care much for the film suit and wanted a figure that looked cooler, but it's grown on me and the figure's worn on me.

And agen's photos look nice, but unmodified, the head's too slim, the skin's unrealistic and the eyes are cartoony, and the shoulder pads seem to be a bit lackluster from some photos and in hand reports. Again, fairly minor issues compared to the HT, but still issues, but it sets a bar that HT's MMSDX Batman will have to meet or exceed.

I felt the same way bout HT TDK Bats, when I got my Medi TDK Bats.

In fact , both HT & Medi figures have flaws that needed mods to look better, none of them are perfect.

I do agree with what you have said as well and I'm pretty excited for what HT rumored MMS DX Batman will look like.

btw, sorry for using your photo without permission, hope you didn't mind.

I keep thinking of Hot Toys boots for 1989. You see that same square bit just before going up the shin when Keaton pushes the accelerator more flying down the road. I remember seeing something similar?

Ya, TDK showed it, but I actually discovered after that whole incident, my Begins figure also had the weird hip thing going on and some other HT figures I hadn't noticed it on had the same, not sure how they end up packaged so that the hip gets popped like that. Glad someone found it out, because really, other than a slight beer gut, there was no sign anything wasn't right, the legs work fine and all.

True, its not exactly a necessary mod (after all, doing mods is not a must but whether you want to or not) but after pushing the stomach in, I still felt he was too fat....which was why I modded it.

Believe me, I have equally bad luck when it comes to both Medicom & Hot Toys figures. I don't know why it broke, but it just did when I moved the leg after leaving it standing for a long time.

I may be a big Medicom fan but I'm also a big critic of them (hmm...borrowed this line from scarlet hehe) I always have something to complain about them, but I'll give credit when its due.

I wonder if HT will do the same this time around and announce the DX TDK during the summer for a fall release.

As I remember correctly I got my v1 Joker about 20th of August. As the DX is due to be released sometime in July.

I don't think there's any plan other than, make it damn good. According to Darklord Dave, there's encouragement going on for HT to frequent these boards, it's possible they look already, even if not posting, and surely here and other boards, they see the comments regarding Medicom's coming out better than theirs. They're going to put work into it and not rush it. Batman isn't the Joker, if they released the same figure just with sonar head and sticky gun, maybe posable cape, it would only sell to those missing the first round, it wouldn't be enough to get people with the first to buy it like Joker, if they want to sell it, it'll take super accessories and a figure that's at least as good as Medicom's, so they're not going to rush into it, it wouldn't be wise.

Awesome pic! You know, this pic does that sculpt tons of justice ............. I don't think it screams Bale but this pic clearly shows off the likeness.

When I get my DX Batman this is what I will do to my current TDK Bats.

I don't know why Hot Toys is obsessed with neat tidy hair. They never seem to allow small strands away from the sculpt. The same could be said about the Joker.

Why can't they do hair like those non perfect strands https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1580093&postcount=1

Bales hair was quite somewhat fluffy/light flowing and what is with Hot Toys glossy hair. I always keep thinking of wax.

Well I'm pretty certain the Bale heads included with the Batmans are meant to look slicked back, as if Wayne had removed the cowl and it was all pressed down from it, which is what I don't like, that we haven't gotten a Wayne portrait that looks like he would day to day.

It takes more time and effort probably for them to do.

The thing that is funny is that in Batman Begins there is a scene of him taking off the cowl and when he does his hair is all messy and not slicked back but hanging down

Buttmunch, before TDK movie and figures came out you were at the top tier of SSC fanboyism...now just because HT made TDK figures you switched bandwagons and are now a HT fanboy all of a sudden? Youve only been interested in HT since then, what makes you such an expert?
