Ideally, we would all like to see the DX to have all the pros of both the HT and Medicom versions, and none of the cons. HT will be taking their time with the DX TDK. I'm sure they already know a lot is expected of them this time around.

Now let's hope they'll deliver the ultimate DK figure!!

Cheers to that :duff

Medicom and HT both missed the mark with their TDK Batmans.

If I'd say anything, I'd say Medicom was just off, HT is not even in line of sight... but no doubt about it the HT fig is an immense Batman fig. I love it even if it's not close to the Bale look and still enjoy looking at it.

If the goal, which mine now is, is to have the most accurrate and realistic looking representation of Batman from the film, neither figure is there.

Hot Toys' figure is well assembled, lots of fun, very realistic looking, but significantly misses the mark on body proportions.

Medicom better captures the body proportions, misses on the realism, and while from some angles the cowl looks damn close to straight out of the movie, from a dead on shot it's too elongated and thin looking.

The stock look? yeah I agree it was *IS* horrid. Stuck in a vice perhaps? it's certainly looking like that. Or maybe the T-1000 has been at him. I had to fix that right away with a bowl of boiling water and let it sit for 20 - 30 seconds between dips to soften it up and gently squeeze. Once that was done blow while holding it and let it cool which stayed in it's position.

Yeah, I know it's not a fair comparison, yeah I know it's now a modded fig. I saw the potential what others had done and wanted to do the same to have that nice Batman display.

If I hadn't gotten my HT TDK Bats already, I'd probably have gotten the Medicom one, of two TDK Batmans out right now, I'd take the closer accurracy look over the better designed figure, but since I've already got one, I'm not spending the money again on a figure that isn't on the mark either.

Is that referring to the Medi or as well as the DX if it fails? I do agree though. Though to be honest I can't see them failing. It would be an epic fail if they did.

At this point, I'm putting all my hope on the rumored MMSDX TDK Batman, hopefully Hot Toys will see where Medicom succeeded, replicate it but with better construction, and improve on Medi's few flaws and give us the ultimate TDK Batman, otherwise I won't buy it.

Totally agree, even though I still feel it was a major screw you to previous owners when they could have done it from the start but we won't go there again.

If it does get announced in the coming months and it turns out to be an immense accurate version I think I'll convert the first version to the Bruce wayne head standing. Medi has the short cape and well it'll depend on how the DX looks but I'll have a hard decision between long cape and short. I definitely want one standing in my display cabinet when the time comes with a long cape.

At the moment it refers to Medicom as it's the only officially out product, since MMSDX is just rumor mill at this point, but that one also has to live up to a certain standard to get me to buy it.

The current TDK Batman is a really nice Batman figure, but since the movie hit DVD, and I watched it a lot and got into my photos and all a lot, I've really come to want a figure that captures the proportions and look from the film, which HT's figure is not, and Medicom's doesn't come close enough to me out of the box to spend another $200 to get it. I'm hoping for a great MMSDX, but if I don't get it I'll live with what I already have.

Its clearly not.

So have all the Hot Toys ones?

Sorry but your post really bugged me.

Define customized from the majority of photos posted here?

The most I've seen is the alternate capes. Thats not really customized or modified. That can be taken back off the HT TDK fig with the stock cape clipped back on.

Then there's futzing. Thats not really customizing... thats just positioning parts into a natural look. As is clothing, straightening things out into a natural authentic look.

Then the gun clipped onto the belt. Thats not customization/modified either. It's just an add-on from a pin clip bent with the gun hanging from it that can be taken back off.

Unless he is referring to paint ups... heads/necks stuffed, heat gun techniques... then yes thats customization.

Really though. Who takes a fig out of a box and never touches it for a display? Every fig looks so dorky straight out of the box. Well thats not true, in fact to some degree it is. Only the figs with clothing/capes and lacking a natural pose. That would mean them all. ¬_¬

All said and done, straight out of the box or with every available modification done to it

Medicom Batman > Hot toys Batman

that's the opinion of "he"

Minor futzing to spruce up a figure to your liking is part of the fun of figures, you can make it look the way you like it to with a little nudge of a shirt or whatever.

What sucks is when you need heavy modifying to bring a figure up to an enjoyable level, which is why I haven't bit for the Medicom, straight out of the box, with little futzing possible because he doesn't wear clothes, he's not so hot and would require heavy modifications to bring him to a look where I'd enjoy him.

HT's is also beyond minor futzes to get it right, and actually requires more radical mods to get accurracy.

I think the thing that gets me with the Medicom is that it's so close to not be dead on sucks. With HT, it's so off, you almost see it as a figure by itself separate from the film and however Bale looked on screen and just enjoy it as a figure.

:lol Dude its a damn toy! Why would you let an opinion on a plastic play thing "Bug" you? Seriously?

Medicom knocked their TDK version out of the park but also sucks overall as a quality company. Thats just my opinion though, don't let stuff like that bug you.

It is indeed. Sometimes I'm never happy with a futz or it's just off for that perfect stance. The Joker suit has went through endless pulling and futzing for me.

This example is like the look from straight out of the box, it's not the first people seem to leave it like that.

No discredit to Shaun but that would irk me leaving it like that. Once I find a good natural position for a stance I'll leave it. Like TheTerminator's display shelf. It's nice seeing them standing relaxed and somewhat natural. As I tend to treat these figs like statues. I like the idea of these are advanced statues that can be moved to your liking. :)

That is true but I will say this reading from the people who modified their Medicom Batman was actually not a hard modification. This is no way meant to sound like I'm trying to encourage people to buy this specific figure. I only wanted it because like you and others still feel so disappointed in the HT look. It took me a while to make up my mind from all the photos from members on here and other boards to buy the Medicom. I had been humming and hawing over it for sometime.

Yeah, so true. The molds/sculpts are so far off.

The Medicom shoulder covers are so horrid. They stick up something rotten.

I had to place a small dot of glue on the corners to pin it down.

I see the HT fig as a severely cheesed off Batman. I never use to see it before. It looks like an angry sculpt. Nevertheless I still love the HT TDK fig. ;)

The other thing that bugs me with the HT is it's quite a sticky rubber, well it's a grippy rubber that dust/fibers seem to love to stick on. As the Medi I read it's vinyl? I've no idea but at least it swipes/blows off.

As has been said before, they all have their good and bad but I'm only collecting two lines. Iron Man and The Dark Knight. So I like the idea of both worlds. Get the best from both sets for a stunning Dark Knight display shelf. :)

Well let's be fair. I have both figures and before stating any further, I would declare myself to be a hottoys fan first and foremost, thinking that Medicom SUCKED alot for realistic figures, especially recently. (taking into account the price, the details, etc.)

I like the whole TDK line of HT thus far but when it comes to the TDK batman, the Medicom won EVEN right out of the box for screen accuracy (or at least look more like the batman at TDK).

But does the TDK one fail for sure? I think not too. There are some plus sides to it too. But YES it needs great modifications to get it look pretty good, well it would look good without mod in very limited poses but that's it as an overall figure. Of course the HT wins in painting and also texture of the face.....but .. since Batman only shows a lil bit of his face.. a lil bit of sacrifice for the texture is ok for me...

The Medicom one this time round also have some better quality control.. it's not easily broken ... (although I think a big part of breaking figures is ppl who do not understand the body type), plus the paint job is already good for medicom standard. (Taken into account that they STILL aim for a lil bit anime style EVEN for realistic figures)

So that's my opinion.. sorry for the long post..

Even though this is going way off topic for the HT TDK photo thread, is it just me or does the paint on the face for the Medi not make you think of the smoothness from the Takara?

I don't want to feel like a broken record with the previous Takara discussions that happened recently. It's just the paint look and feels like as if it reminds me of the Takara paint.

Well put! :D

All this talk about customizing.....
has anyone forgotten all the major mods they had to go through for the HT TDK Bats?
Removing the rubber suit, sanding the stupid body so that he does not have a beer belly?

Oh and for the record, my HT TDK Bats broke his leg when I hardly even pose it. After doing all the mods on it, I got a little tired and just left it in my shelf as it is. When I finally took it out for inspection as I wanted to sell it off, it broke!!!

No one's forgetting some of the heavy mods folks chose to do, however I believe most of the people that have heavily posted images here have been factory figures, but for the cape, all mine are purely what came from HT. I think the comment is that most of the Medi photos getting big applause are modified figures.

Sanding it down wasn't to get rid of the beer belly. You can get rid of that by pushing the stomach in without taking the suit off.

What people need to remember is the "great looking" Medicom TDK Batmans have been CUSTOMIZED! The Medi Batman is just "meh" out of the box though, and that is due largely to Medicom's paint, or lack there of.

Out of the box, HT's TDK Batman is still the figure to beat.

No...Agen didn't do any mods to his and this is how he look out of the box (unless your telling me that futzing of the cape is considered a mod)

medicomdk17.jpg

Doesn't screams "Meh" to me

I believe this is Maulfan's pics, can't really remember as I saved them long ago. (I don't mean to discredit you or anything, your pics are great but its the figure that has problems)
This is how a HT TDK Bats look out of the box
11.jpg

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Of cos, if you still believe the the HT TDK batman is the better of the two, I will respect your opinion.

But I'm sure many will agree, straight out of the box Medi TDK bats is the better one.

It is my photo, and if you check my comments during this debate, while I don't think it's 100%, I do give Medicom the upper hand, even flawed, it's less flawed than the HT. Now that I care about a TDK Batman accurrately capturing Bale's film look, I like my HT less. When it first came out, I didn't care much for the film suit and wanted a figure that looked cooler, but it's grown on me and the figure's worn on me.

And agen's photos look nice, but unmodified, the head's too slim, the skin's unrealistic and the eyes are cartoony, and the shoulder pads seem to be a bit lackluster from some photos and in hand reports. Again, fairly minor issues compared to the HT, but still issues, but it sets a bar that HT's MMSDX Batman will have to meet or exceed.

Ya, TDK showed it, but I actually discovered after that whole incident, my Begins figure also had the weird hip thing going on and some other HT figures I hadn't noticed it on had the same, not sure how they end up packaged so that the hip gets popped like that. Glad someone found it out, because really, other than a slight beer gut, there was no sign anything wasn't right, the legs work fine and all.
