Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.
OK, I just received mine in the mail. I need some answers on a few things...
How well put together is everyone's figure? I can't tell if I received a defective one, or if it's just hard to mess around with. First off, I feel the parts it comes with (such as extra hands and such) are sorta cheap. Here's what I mean:
1) When exchanging hands, is the connector between the arm and the hand supposed to pop off into each hand when taking the hand off, or remain on the arm/body of the figure? Everytime I pop off a hand, the connector remains in the hand, and it takes forever to pull it out so that I can connect another hand.
2) The extra head...It looks great, but it refuses to stay in the body of the figure. It's like the round indentation at the bottom isn't deep enough to fit the head onto the body. The head with the cowl fits good, though.
3) The arms...the figure's left arm isn't as poseable and fluid as his right arm. It's like his left arm has some serious arthritis.
4) The cape...looks nice, but how do you get the clips to go flush? One clip is completely flush on the figure of the body. The second clip pops out and and half of the clip is in the hole on the top of the suit, the other sticks up directly in the air.
5) Again, might be me, but the arm equip and hands seem a bit loose. And they never seem flush with the suit. Meaning, you can look at where the hand meets the suit armor, and see a gap. That might just be the nature of poseable figures like these--I don't know, this is my first Hot Toys figure.
With that said, I seem to be having some problems with mine. And he does have the beer belly.
1) What I do about the pegs is to bend the wrist 90 degrees and try to pop it off. I've also read that squeezing the hand and pulling it out works
2) You really have to push so that the peg goes into the neck post. Be warned though, my neck post was a little tight and I had trouble trying to pull it off after that!
It took me a good 10 - 15 minutes as I was trying to be really careful not to break anything
3) Unfortunately for suited figures like this, hard to tell what the problem is. I have the same problem with my Joker figure, one of the arms is looser than the other at the shoulder. At least with Joker, we can swap out the bodies or check to see what the problem is
4) I posted this diagram a few pages back. I believe that's how the clips are "supposed" to work.
Not sure if you can see it in my avatar but its pretty flat. The reason that one side doesn't lay as flat (right side if you're looking at my Avatar, left of actual figure) is because the glue came off when I was trying to stuff the clip into the crevice and I glued the clip and fabric back together as yet.
Then again, in some of the awesome pics, I've just read that a guy (from
Toy World Forum) removed the clips completely and just stuffed the cape into the crevice/hole! Looks good too!
Who knows, if the stitches come off mine (one clip's stitches is near breaking point from the initial pushing and shoving into the hole before I figured out the construction of the clip which I did in PAINT above PLUS the the cape has been separated from the clip where it was supposed to be glued and I just left it as is), I might just do away with the clips completely and try this guy's method
The Dark Knight ready to kick ass and look good doing it
MaulFan made a good point about the Colonial Marines TT body a few posts back. I had to pack up most of my stuff as I'm in the midst of moving so I finally saw Hicks in the nude after a couple of years (that didn't come out right!).
The chest area is definitely different from the current TT bodies and it does look slimmer. However, the initial problem I had with it was trying to get the body to stay together as the Marine bodies required assembly.
