Well they are pretty crude :lol

All I side was cut the legs down the middle in the back, took in the slack and superglued them in place

Not exactly a professional alteration, but it got the job done :lol

I figured I will never have him posed where my "alterations" are visible and he looks so much better with the thinner pant legs.

Thnx for the comments fellas

I see, form over function.:D The look is great though, the pants no longer have that baggy, bulky look.

A little off topic, but maybe not. I've been trying to figure out who the Hot Toys Secret Service female figure looks like, and it might just be me, but I think she looks a little like 13.

Am I the only one that thinks that? This isn't the best pic by the way.

To me its a mixture of Knightley and Angelina Jolie.

I agree, but with more emphasis on Knightley. She would make a great 13 (the hair would need to be more brunette). It's funny that you mention that, because I have 2 of these figures standing next to my headless House custom.

From a sculptor's perspective, I would say they were using reference of this actress, Kristen Stewart from Twilight.

The features are just so close including the asymmetry of her jaw, though the blunted her chin a bit.

IMO they used Keira Knightley for reference.
The same jaw line, nose and lips.

I edited the pict of the Hot Toys fig a little (gave her brown eyes and hair and thicker eyebrows)

btw: Your House sculpt is awesome, amazing, brilliant, perfect ... !!! :google :drool

Sorry. :monkey3 :angelsmil
I just had to put my two cents in. :D

You're right! There is quite a resemblance. (But I'm sticking with my vote! :D) It's interesting to get a feel for what people see. The human face is like a blank canvas.... we all get to paint our impressions upon it based on our own likes, dislikes, and experiences.

It's a subject you may well imagine I have a certain interest in. What makes a likeness a likeness? Why does one person see one thing while a different person sees another?

It's not enough to merely mechanically copy a face.... that can be done with a laser scanner and SLA.... there has to be that undefinable special something extra.

Don't let me get all touchy feely artist on you here, :peace but dare I call it soul? It's an elusive quality that makes a sculpt more than a xeroxed copy and makes it something special that captures the personality of the subject. I chase after this quality always wondering if I capture just a little bit. It's that pursuit that I'm never really satisfied with in the end that keeps me striving to do better each time.

Enough of the mumbo jumbo! Back to business.

I'm working on the cane.

The face resembles both Knightley and Kristen Stewart. They both have symmetrical faces, but HT has made Knightley, and I think the figure is just a variation on Knightley with rooted hair.

Oh no! Not recycling!?! :horror Say it isn't so...... Ah well, I guess the best of them cut corners....

Always annoys me when a toy company I work for reuses parts from an old line. I prefer to make everything anew for each new line. Better results in the end.

:lol

Sorry for getting the thread off track. Chris, you are our only hope of getting it back on track. Another sneak peek would be great. Perhaps of the cane?

Yes, I'm addicted I need more peeks at House WIPs.

Chris, great work my man! Thats really cool of you to show everyone early early stages of the sculpt :) I can already see this becoming another great sculpt of yours.

Actually, I find it entertaining! :D

I'm working on the handle of the cane right now......

BTW, meant to mention, if anyone has a critique or any comments about the sculpt at this point, please feel free to fire away! Go on, I can take it!

As I always say, many eyes are better.....:google

Thanks, Chris, I appreciate that. Can't wait to see how you approach him, especially his 5 o'clock shadow. I'm going to give you some texture for it, I think....

First off, I think the sculpt is absolutely terrific!

That said, here's my small list of things which IMO would make him look a tad more House-ish.

- More pronounced upper lip groove
- Ears look a little too low down on the head
- Laurie's head shape looks a little more "balloon-shaped" to me
- Straight on view, the nose is a little largish/bulbous
- Jaw seems a little strong

Just my two cents. :D
