Yeah--I can't believe that this movie finally got made.

I think it will be better with WIll Smith than with Arnold.

Whatever.

Schwarzenegger "I'll be back" > Smith "Awwww hell no"

Good teaser though.

Prequel planned for hit sci-fi movie I Am Legend
By David Bentley on Jul 29, 08 10:50 AM in Movie news
A PREQUEL to the 2007 hit sci-fi movie I Am Legend is to be made, says director Francis Lawrence.

Lawrence said Will Smith's character Robert Neville would return for the new film. He told Shock Till You Drop at San Diego Comic-Con: "We're trying to figure out some ideas for it but, yes, it would be a prequel.

"It's slightly different because it's earlier. We were three years later [in I Am Legend] so we did a lot of research into the way nature would have overtaken the city, with the cracks in the streets and the weeds, so if it's earlier, the approach will be different."
He added: "We're not positive of the time of the year, because if you go in winter, you can do some entirely different kinds of things."

Based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel, the first film told the story of the last healthy man alive, living in New York and fending off zombie-like survivors of a viral plague that had destroyed mankind. Will Smith's version was the third film adaptation of the book following 1964's The Last Man on Earth and 1971's The Omega Man.

The $150m movie was a big hit, making $584million worldwide despite strong criticism of 'unrealistic' computer-generated effects and deviations from the original novel.

Is this film even necessary?...

We'll all know the ultimate outcome. Why would we want to see this?

I wanted the movie and I wanted it to follow the book. It did not and I'm not happy about it. I've only seen it the one time and may review it again-late at night when I'm at work with nothing else to do.

I had read the Lord of the Rings countless times for almost 30 years before the movies came out, knew the ending quite well obviously, but still wanted to see the movies and impatiently awaited their release.

If handled well, this could be a good film, but I don't think it would be as interesting as the "original" story.

They already made huge changes from the book for the first one, so this movie might as well be called something else now.

I like the first one but i wanted to know more about what happened before the period where the film took rather then those short flashbacks.

I liked the film. I've always liked this story and "Last Man On Earth" and "The Omega Man" have always been two of my favorite films. I don't think the story changes in the latest film made it better... rather it hurt it really, but still a good film I could watch more than once.
