Thank you for clearing that up.

But what I meant was that I didn't know people were paying that much for these things, customized men dolls lol

That post was directed at calcifer, but you are welcomed :D Some folks pay a lot for them, i think the Serang Jimmy Hendrix custom full set is going for $2000

well no company has made a Dexter Figure, If I could I would buy one,
I mean, if they don't make the figure you just have to get a custom,

What I don't get is getting customs of figures that already exist, or customs of figures that are not worth getting a figure over, characters that no one really cares about

Yep I see these listings from time to time. I have bought three limited pieces that were in the $700 range. Even then I was like "what the h#ll are you thinking?" and I can afford them. There are only a couple of characters I would ever drop that much on and the sculpts and tailoring have to be absolutely spot on. I have seen some folks trying to sell pieces that look like car wrecks for $1K+. For the most part to me the sweet spot for a custom/LE figure is $350-$500, and it has to look d@mned great. I remember being floored by that Vancei Anakin Skywalker from a few years ago. I did almost pick one of those up for $2K but that was before I started collecting 1:6 or even PFs, so at the time I was like "are you insane". I'm hoping when HT finally shows their long promised Anakin it comes close to that one in sculpt and tailoring.

is like, Jason customs, there are so many Jason figures out there,

but Myers there is not a lot, so I would buy a Myers Custom if I could,
same with Dexter, I need a Dexter figure, really do,

I say we find 'em and beat 'em up!

C'mon guys!

While I'm a regular buyer of custom figures, the figures I have bought, dexter,Joker,Doc Holliday I genuinely would never sell any of them! I have thought of selling my Neo only because I don't think I need two versions of the same character with Iminimes on the way but I know exactly where Nam is coming from. There are some genuine snobs in the custom threads and people who practically rent these customs, but like I said earlier regular figure collectors of hot toys/enterbay do the same thing too but it is much sadder seeing custom collectors do it.

The only "full" custom I have purchased was the iminime Ra's al Ghul, and I sold it a few days after I got it for more than I paid.

I paid in full when it went up for pre-order, wanting the main unreleased villain from Begins, but then a couple of things happened. I decided to scale back on Batman 1/6 related items to just Batman and Joker, partially due to room/space, and partially due to affected interest in the Nolan franchise after the Colorado shooting.

Sometimes it's about having a lot of money wrapped up in one collectible, but sometimes there's more to it than that. :dunno

I've got a few Terminator customs of very good standard, I can't see myself selling them unless one day I somehow lose all interest in owning toys.

I recently sold my RM Dude for 2k, had 4 people who wanted him in just under a half hour, 3 more after he sold all ready to pay that price. It's just a limited piece of art no differant then art prints on ebay. Tyler Stouts Star Wars prints are going for like 1500 each, its about what your willing to pay to admire that art for a while. Its also like having a few prints you switch out from time to time, sometimes I'll get tired of looking at one, hang another.

I didn't think I'd ever end up selling that figure but I did it because I'm cutting down my 1/6 scale collection to be focused only on old school cult films like Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver, The Shining, and I recently moved into the city with several friends and dont have the space I had before to display tons of figures in a detolf. I'll need to be able to fit only about 4-5 figures on a shelf in cases. No emergency surgery for my dying dog or anything like that. :lol

Damn. . .that's one piece that I myself would never want to get rid of, but if you could get $2K plus for the damn thing. . .I'm not sure he's worth that much to me.

It was a tough one to box up but I'm reinvesting the money I made off him back into my collection so it will pay off in the end I hope. I had to make a tough decision and focus my collection and cult crazy types won out the majority. While Lebowskis a cult movie to be sure, he felt like he'd be a bit out of place in a line up with Alex Delarge, Travis Bickle, Jack Torrance, Tyler Durden, and Patrick Bateman, and thats really all I am going to have room for now unfortunately until I move back into a bigger place. I'll still keep one or two others like my Venkman and MacReady but I will have to store them for the time being and I didn't want to do that with something like the Duder.

What is an RM dude? :dunno

Rainman's Dude figure from the Big Lebowski.

I actually also sold the Iminime Seven figures almost immediately as I realized in the time between pre-order and receiving them that they really weren't a good fit with the rest of my collection. Apart from sheer laziness, I would have already gotten rid of another 5-10 figures from my collection that I just don't need anymore.

Yep when I started I just wanted every character from my favorite classic films but now I just dont have the space and have to go with the ones that are most classic. I'm not the type to see a new movie and want a figure from it though, if it isn't a film thats at least about 10 years old and can stand the test of time I'm not even about to consider it.

I was also sick when I took up this hobby and had alot of spare time at home to admire and futz and deal with caring with a larger collection, now I'm lucky if I get an hour a week to care for my figures so it's best if I'm not overwhelmed caring for a dozen of them, especially when they are so valuable.

Some people just got money laying around like for instance madmen suit by Kato very nice but 500.00 for 1/6 suit most I'll Spend on a Custom is $400.
