That's rickdiculous.

Not looking to get flamed here, but what the hell...

I don't think the OP is focusing on what people are paying for customs (although that's part of it) - it's more of the fact that people who can't afford them are buying them, then needing to sell them, and yet are still standing in line to get more.

Look - no one has the right to judge what other people spend their money on. Some guys like cars, others arcade games, others blow and hookers.

Who cares. It's your cash.

However, I do think that the main point is comical. Whether you or anyone else thinks it's ridiculous to spend $700-$1000 on a custom figure doesn't matter. Your opinion is just that, and you're welcome to it.

The problem OP brings up is a valid one. There are people here who are stepping a bit outside their league and buying things they can't really afford. Then they realize they need to sell, and that's the way it goes. Yet, those same people are still on the 'interest' list for other figures that will put them in the same situation 6 months from now.

Consider this an intervention, not a judgement. Get your s.h.i.t. in order; prioritize. If you can afford it, more power to you. If you can't - then you're taking away a spot from someone who can.

If you can afford it, but bought out of impulse - well, we've all been here. Coming from a diagnosed OCD, I can spot my own a mile away - and there are plenty here on these boards. :wink1: You realize, man, my money is better spent elsewhere. Fine. But if you can't really afford it, then just admire.

Sorry folks, I've had just shy of a twelve pack, so I might be talking out of my a$$.

I can afford it though, and I don't really care if anyone else thinks it's ridiculous to spend "X" amount on "Y" thing. This is only one of about 10 hobbies I collect for.

Don't judge what others spend their money on. Try to help those that shouldn't because they wouldn't be paying their bills otherwise.

Peace,
Orri~

It took you way too long to come up with that. I'm disappointed in the results. In the future, I demand better. Now, I have some customs to list for 4x what I paid. Then I am going to purchase something with the intention of flipping it. Meanwhile, I'll visit the Babydoll thread and crap all over it despite the fact I never intend to buy it. THEN I will buy a Babydoll and part it.

Don't forget to start a tittybaby thread whining about needing to dump "grails" you swore you'd never sell because your broke ass keeps spending money you don't have so you can dump what you got and your next 3 Taco Bell paychecks on more custom grails. :wave

Whoa whoa whoa. I only eat at extravagant places like taco bell. They won't hire me. I think it's because of my looks but who's to say? I was at their job fair recently.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but was there a person who spent $100 for custom 1/6 Joker socks a few years ago? I vaguely recall something like that being mentioned :monkey1

I agree with NAM, but mostly in the fact of people spending so much money on a Custom statue. I understand people want to comission and you know get all custom on their stuff, but I mean, I rather just get the official stuff and at modic prices.
$1000 for an statue that retailed for $300 is almost offensive in my opinion. I can buy so many hot toys or for that matter PF statues for the price of a custom $1000 lol

:nono That's not what I'm saying. If it's something you've wanted and you have the money to get it, by all means, if it makes you happy, do it! Then show it off to everybody, brag about what you paid for it and laugh at all the poor *******s who call you crazy. :lol

I really don't care what anyone spends their money on. But it does bug me, and I can't put my finger on why, when I see these limited runs from rainman etc, and the same chaps filling up the spots and then basically turning around and flipping the item a few weeks after it gets in peoples hands.

The funniest part is when I see their "want to buy" threads and it's usually stuff they flipped and want to buy back. :lol

I think you've been reading too many EVILFACE posts :lol
I don't think anyone ever spent that much on 1/6 socks :lol
The custom socks were like $15 or $20 from memory.

But yes coming back to the point of this thread - It feels like it's a case of
1. People buying things they can't afford
2. People not having a clue what characters/properties TRULY are their favourite, and just being swayed by the flavours of the week so to speak.

I also get a good LOL when I see someone rate a movie in the "Last movie you watched" thread and then ask for one of the characters from the flick in whilst threads. :lol

It's like do you really wish that character was on your shelf?
