Marijuana is not physically addictive, only mentally and if you let it. And last i heard it had more tar than cigs but not carcinogens. Also Marijuana is an exportant and helps clear the lungs. (besides vaporizer FTW)

And weed actually helps with cancer. It was put here for a reason!! Sorry FAIL!

Must say.... awesome post. :rock :lol

People are still running scared because of the failed D.A.R.E program. You know the one where they repeated "JUST SAY NO!" All drugs are bad and you will be locked away for trying them.

Certain drugs are illegal because our government is racist. Crack cocaine was targeted because it was a popular drug in the ghettos and a lot of black people took to it. Opium was targeted after the Chinese brought it in. When Our government sees a problem with a minority it targets their drug of choice and then locks them up.

Possessing Crack Cocaine carries a severe penalty in contrast to the rich white mans powder cocaine.

"As a result of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, Congress set forth different mandatory penalties for cocaine and crack cocaine, with significantly higher punishments for crack cocaine offenses. There is a 5-year minimum prison penalty for a first-time trafficking offense involving 5 grams or more of crack cocaine or 500 grams or more of powder cocaine and a 10-year mandatory minimum penalty for a first-time trafficking offense involving 50 grams or more of crack cocaine or 5,000 grams or more of powder cocaine."

"In 2006, crack cocaine sentences were 43.5 percent longer than powder cocaine sentences; the average length of imprisonment for powder cocaine offenders was 84.7 months, while crack cocaine-related imprisonments averaged 121.5 months."

yeah, everyone is ill informed but you...Just because you got away a few times because of some stupid cops doesn't mean some wouldn't recognize the odor and arrest you....sounds like you got lucky...not only that but lucky you've never crashed and kill anyone...I've seen plenty high on pot that can't even walk in a straight line let alone drive a vehicle...of course they all thought they were driving just fine... Maybe you should try and see the other side of things.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:lol You have no idea huh? :lol

Too high to walk in a straight line!! :lol

You know how many people are high around you all the time? On the road, in your school, at your job? You are so naive.

Furthermore, there are no roadside drug tests for being high. You can't be arrested for smelling like weed. You sound so afraid because it's obvious you have never experienced the effects of marijuana.

Marijuana a gateway drug.... that is so laughable!!! :lol Seriously, do some research on this stuff. Marijuana isn't a stepping stone for harder drugs. That's like saying drinking alcohol leads to heroine abuse. :lol

I would have to disagree with you on this. With some people its like a gateway drug by making them more relaxed about trying different types of drugs so they call it a gate way drug.

Some people try it and stay on just this or stop all together but most move on.

What do you mean? Are you saying most people get a feeling for marijuana and then move on to harder drugs because they are more relaxed about casual drug usage? Research points this to be factual untrue and also I think you will get the same answer from people who actually use marijuana. Most have been moderate to heavy users for years and they never move on to any drug.

I think people know from the start where they want to go with drug use. If someone wants to try cocaine that's just what they want to do. It's not like caffeine is a stepping stone for alcohol or tobacco is a stepping stone for marijuana. So no, I really don't think or should I say I know most don't move on to harder drugs. That's irrational to think that in my opinion.

I talk from past experiences with my self and about 100 friends when I did stuff. They all said they started the same way.

Just wanted to jump in and point out that there most certainly are roadside tests for being high...And from there the warrants for the blood and urine are aquired...Then the arrests...what fun...now who is missinformed...

Marijuana is NOT a gateway drug! I was doing heroin way before I started smoking weed :lecture

If anything, heroin is gateway drug.

not a very good example...it doesn't mean that some won't just start out with the harder drugs...sounds to me like some are just trying to justify their drug habits...

From a psychological stand point I disagree that they know. I think it depends on the reason for the drug use. I think alot of people who use drugs as a form of self medication find that marijuana becomes less effective with time so they move on to the heavier stuff. Much as an alcoholic who starts out with beer moves on to hard liquor. But as far as experiementing I think you are more or less correct. So as far as marijuana being a gateway drug I think the best way to answer that is "it depends".

: a drug (as alcohol or marijuana) whose use is thought to lead to the use of and dependence on a harder drug (as cocaine or heroin)

That is how merriam-webster defines gate-way drugs.

I notice that they included alcohol in that definition. I know most people on here have consumed alcohol and have done so continually for years- are you guys hooked on cocaine or heroin? Did alcohol open the door to harder drugs that have ruined your life?

I bet not. I bet you sit at home after work and have a beer. Or maybe grab a couple of drinks while out at a restaurant or at your kid's baseball game with no problems what so ever.

THe easiest way to control people is by fear. Just think about what is really going on for a bit and you will find hidden agendas from everyone and from every direction. Everybody wants something. :)

You are right there are other options out there that can be called "gate-way drug" so based on that Mary Jane is a gate-way drug.

That may be true for you and some people, but what about others? That question doesn't have a specific answer for everyone...maybe it didn't lead to other harder drugs for you but it has for others...
