Edit: I am NOT alone in this suffering. It seems Oscorp knows a greater injustice than I could ever. This thread henceforth is dedicated to him.

So, I'm at home one day, cleaning up the house and I see outside my window the USPS mail truck stop in front of my mail box. I think, "oh, maybe there's a package for me", because I was expecting at least a couple any day now. The mail dude sits in the truck for a few moments, and I'm standing in the middle of my living room with a vaccuum handle in my hands, leering out the ____ing window like Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones, anticipating a package to appear from the truck.

But no, the mail guy hops out of the truck with a handful of crap (bills and the usual) and stuffs them in my mail box. I'm thinking, "meh, just bills and fliers, I'll grab 'em later", so I get back to my house work.

An hour or two later I'm done and I head outside to grab the mail, and what do I pull out of my mail box? One of those USPS 'Sorry We Missed You!" slips. It indicates that I could pick up the package the next day.

WHAT?! The mail man didn't even bother to walk to my door step to deliver the package and instead just slipped that notice in my mail box? Were there extenuating circumstances that I don't know about? What an _______. Now I'm thinking this isn't the first time this is happened. I'm paranoid and wondering if that mail guy has it out for me.

I hate going to the post office when I don't need to.

Has this happened to any of you? Does it happen often?

Dude, this ____ used to happen to me all the time too. I actually went to the central post office here and talked to the area manager. They gave me a slip to sign basically stating that I want ALL packages left at my doorstep regardless of whether anyone is home or not. I get packages all the time and I was having to go to the post office 2-3 times a week to pick stuff up. Good luck!

Yeah, we filled out a little form and they put a dot inside our mailbox which I guess indicates to leave all packages at the door. Thankfully they have so far but before that they would never go the extra 30 feet to our doorstep. Although I try my best to have everythig of value sent to work that way I know I will get it.

It happened to me once, I warned the Mailman not to be doing this and now we are the best of friends and he leaves any package in an old truck I have outside my house....:D

Did you ever think that maybe he had pooped his pants and was to embarrassed to walk to your front door. Man, you are so selfish!

I'll have to make sure to do that. They're usually consistent in actually walking the 20 or so steps from the sidewalk to my doorstep, but sometimes they're so erratic.

Shi.tty service will not be excused.

Lol....this has happened with me before as well. This is why I prefer Fedex. I've had so much crap shipped here from Fedex the guy knows me by name and recognizes my car. I was driving down the road once and was stopped at a light. He was stopped across from me at the light and waved at me to signal that I had a package.

That's awesome. I don't think I ever get the same USPS or UPS mail person twice (maybe Fedex is the key...). Or maybe I have and I've never paid attention or felt the need to befriend mine. Wow, I'm an a$$hole. :lol

I know both my USPS and UPS guys pretty well since I do so much business with them. They're pretty cool with me.

I get the same thing from my Fedex guys. I used to work beyond where the first one lived in relation to his route going by my house. So I gave him my phone number and he used to call me and I would meet him after he finished his route to get my Sideshow stuff. It was only a couple of blocks from his house and from my work and he told me he was cool with it because they work on a per package commision.

I have since moved. But the new guy is happy to sign for my packages and leave them in the car that is always outside my house. I leave it unlocked for him and he locks it back up.

I even have Sideshow using FedEx exclusively for my orders.

my mailman usually just leaves the card. mailmen around here usually park the truck and then gather up a block or 2 worth of mail and deliver on foot. i don't think they like to lug big packages around with them especially when most people work during the day and aren't hope to get them anyway. personally i don't mind cuz i work nights and sleep during the day and the constant ringing of the doorbell pisses me off while i'm sleeping. i don't really want stuff sitting outside since it's usually snowing or raining here all year round anyway.

I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't get mail at my house. I have a box at the UPS store which is great cause I never have to be around for my packages to be delivered and I always know my stuff is safe and sound.

so how far away from civilization do you live? do you get running water and electricity out there? do you gotta buy 5 months worth of nonperishable groceries at a time cuz it doesn't pay to go into the city to pick up a few things? please tell me. i wanna learn.

Lol usps are the laziest mailmen ever, you can be sitting outside waiting for the pakage like i was and they will still give you the pink slip, Thats why iallways want ups and not usps.

I live in an apartment building, and I have a job that doesn't require me to start until later in the morning, which means I am at home when deliveries are made.
About a year ago I noticed that after being out maybe twice during a delivery, the same delivery guy stopped buzzing my intercom alltogether. I had about 10-12 deliveries where I was at home checking my tracking, then the 'unsuccessful delivery' would pop up, I'd go downstairs and check the letterbox, and there'd be one of those cards in there.
So one day when I had nothing better to do, I went down to the lobby and waited for him to come. What do I see? The guy walks up to the building with no parcels, but with like 5 pre-filled out cards to put in people's boxes. So I went out and told him off, and told him to use the intercom, and that I would even come down so he doesn't have to come in.
He now leaves all parcels with the front reception :lol Luckily all the ones I need to sign for come by a courier.

At least you got the slip. I once had to go in about a package I had been waiting for, and the seller looked up the status and said delivery was attempted, but I never got a slip. I was able to get the package the day before it was due to be returned to shipper. The post office manager said I wasn't the first person to complain about the same thing in my neighborhood. I think that postal worker got moved on.

UPS >> USPS

How much does that cost a month? I'd be interested in this... but I'm also very cheap/frugal, so maybe not.

They are also the most un-laziest mailmen ever, since they are the ONLY mailmen :lecture

I was in the post office a couple of days ago to mail of an international package. Got there at 4:59, place closes at 5:00. Mine was prepaid, I just wanted to drop it off in person. Girl walks in after me at 5:01, needs 2 stamps for 2 letters she wants to mail, postman tells her the place is closed and she'll have to come back tomorrow. 2 damn stamps!!! Would have taken him less than 2 minutes, but he couldn't be bothered with it. If I had the stamps in my wallet I would have given them to her.

Just goes to show how government employees feel about going the extra mile to satisfy the customer. Read into that all you'd like.
