I swear, USPS mail guy did this on purpose

You can get stamps elsewhere though. Its hard to say when a post office is 'closed' as the doors aren't locked like a regular store. So its harder to keep people coming in late from keeping them later. When a store closes they lock the doors and let those in the store finish shopping. But the post office can't do that. So if someone from 4:59 is still being helped and someone comes in at 5:15 and sees that, they'll expect to be helped too despite coming in so late. So there is a point they just have to say no. But 2 stamps at 5:01 is a bit harsh, she should have been helped.

Maybe it is locational, but I hate UPS. I have gotten many packages from them that are beat/ripped up and had one with large puncture holes in it, two statues were delivered to other houses on the street (the neighbors brought me the statues later in the day), and they have left the "sorry, we missed you" slips multiple times even though we were here. My wife caught the guy bringing just the slip to our door one day and she opened the door and he said, "Oh, I didn't think you were home. Let me get your package." I have called an complained, particularly about the misdelivers, but it hasn't changed.

I have never had an issue with Fedex.

I've had similar experiences as you, Kibishii. I'm not the biggest fan of UPS anymore, and request FedEx whenever I can. Although, like you said, I'm sure it varies with location. I never had an issue with UPS in the past, but ever since my last move, things haven't been the best with them.

this has happend to me as well.l was in the kitchen all morning and then l go to the mail box wich was just out side the kitchen window and there is one of those left in the mail box and the time written on it l was 5 feet from the door.l got pissed off at the post office and told them to hire people with some initiative and ring the door bell or knock on the door.there to lazy and stupid to do that.guess thats were there mail men, then you have to drive to the post office.

I've never had that happen to me since I've been here in Kansas.

I know the USPS mailgirls (all women here in this town), the UPS guy & gal and the FedEx dude. Sometimes they call me to tell me I have a package.

Living in a small town has its benefits. :D :rock

I am a letter carrier and do my very best to provide the best CS possible. I always go to the door to check if my customers are home.
It is a shame some of the stories I have read here, That all you need is a few a,,holes to make us all look like dumb, lazy workers.

Happened to me on a couple occasions--as with all things here, though, worse with FedEx than USPS. I do tip at Christmas, but they change mail carriers for this route so often that doesn't help too much.

Once I was expecting a package and according to the tracking information it was supposed to be delivered that day. Next thing I know it said attempted delivery, no one home. I was furious, especially since it was at my office and we were open!

I called USPS and told them, ok, if we were not here then were is my "sorry we missed you" slip. Yep, we had not even received one of those. I raised hell and made them go back specially to deliver it. I got it the same day. When the mailman came I asked him what had happened, he said I assume you guys were closed. Why would we be closed, it wasn't a holiday and it was normal business hours? What I think is that since it was a big heavy box he didn't want to be bothered with carrying it.

On the other hand, my mail lady now days is a complete angel, goes out of her way constantly to deliver my mail. One day I opened my office late and she came back before returning to the station to bring me my mail.

At least you got the slip. I once had to go in about a package I had been waiting for, and the seller looked up the status and said delivery was attempted, but I never got a slip. I was able to get the package the day before it was due to be returned to shipper. The post office manager said I wasn't the first person to complain about the same thing in my neighborhood. I think that postal worker got moved on.

UPS >> USPS

Oh wow you've got it worst than I do. That sucks. But at least the postal worker that's behind it is gone, right?

I reacted strongly to what happened yesterday because it was like I practically caught him in the act of being lazy. I can understand that in certain circumstances (like the ones brought up by King Darkness), but from where the mail truck was parked on the curb to my door step is 20 steps at most.

Oh well. I'll just need to keep track of the postal workers that have my neighborhood route. Easier said than done, though.

I've never had that happen to me since I've been here in Kansas.

So, I'm at home one day, cleaning up the house and I see outside my window the USPS mail truck stop in front of my mail box. I think, "oh, maybe there's a package for me", because I was expecting at least a couple any day now. The mail dude sits in the truck for a few moments, and I'm standing in the middle of my living room with a vaccuum handle in my hands, leering out the ____ing window like Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones, anticipating a package to appear from the truck.

But no, the mail guy hops out of the truck with a handful of crap (bills and the usual) and stuffs them in my mail box. I'm thinking, "meh, just bills and fliers, I'll grab 'em later", so I get back to my house work.

An hour or two later I'm done and I head outside to grab the mail, and what do I pull out of my mail box? One of those USPS 'Sorry We Missed You!" slips. It indicates that I could pick up the package the next day.

WHAT?! The mail man didn't even bother to walk to my door step to deliver the package and instead just slipped that notice in my mail box? Were there extenuating circumstances that I don't know about? What an _______. Now I'm thinking this isn't the first time this is happened. I'm paranoid and wondering if that mail guy has it out for me.

I hate going to the post office when I don't need to.

Has this happened to any of you? Does it happen often?

Yup, used to happen to me when we had this one mailman who used to pull all kinds of ____. I complained. He has been moved to alot of different routes over the years whenever he gets alot of complaints about him.

It's happened to me before as well. I even took a day off of work one day to be at home to sign, and he left the "sorry we missed you" sheet without even ringing the doorbell. Bastard.

Sort of. I had a postal money order coming my way from a guy on Ebay. After about 3 or 4 days of it not showing up I e-mailed the guy and he tracks it and says it arrived here on the 18th. That day was the 24th!

I go up there on the 25th (I have kids I watch after mind you so I HATE going to the post office)(yes I am legally allowed to watch after children, strange.) and the guy says they tried on the 19th or something and that I probably would be getting another notice today when I got home but I got the letter right then from him by showing some I.D.

Yep, got home, and low and behold there is the notice but nowhere on it did it say 2nd notice (not sure they do) or anything like that.

My patience level after winning/ buying something like the collectibles we purchase is pretty much zero. If I saw this happen and had to wait another day, I would have to report him or something.

Same here, If I do not step outside so that he can see me, he will just fill out that note and stuff it in the mailbox. At least UPS and Fedex makes one attempt by knocking on my door, but usps? Nope!

USPS delivery men are the same as your everyday mail men. They "think" they know when youre home and when youre not cause they're there everyday. So they probably assume when they shouldnt and bypass the visit to the door whereas the others are only there to delivery a package on select dates so theyre not familiar with your residence.

But honestly, youd think such practices would be switched with USPS being more disciplined and the other the douches.

regardless, they should knock on EVERY occasion ... :monkey1

Granted that my mailbox is nowhere near my front door, but they always leave a card and never attempt to deliver. And the post office I have to pickup at now doesn't open until 9 AM, so I can't go on a work day. If USPS stops working on Saturdays I'll really have a problem.

One time I filled in the card to have them redeliver and leave without a signature. That was the last I heard about that package. I had to go to the post office with the printed out tracking and pick it up. Never even another card - they just gave up.

I hate USPS,
