No way. Tips are a thank you for sevice rendered. Not a bribe for good sevice TO BE rendered.

But I garantee you all...my FedEx guy is getting a 50.00 gift certificates for Outback Steakhouse this year.

so how far away from civilization do you live? do you get running water and electricity out there? do you gotta buy 5 months worth of nonperishable groceries at a time cuz it doesn't pay to go into the city to pick up a few things? please tell me. i wanna learn.

Not Far. Yes. Yes. No.

Any more questions?
How much does that cost a month? I'd be interested in this... but I'm also very cheap/frugal, so maybe not.

I believe they are all individually owned so the prices will vary, here a small box is $120 a year and a large box is $200 a year. I think there is a medium box option too, I cant remember.

For me it is 100% worth because of the quality and convenience of it. My packages are always safe and sound, everything gets signed for, never miss a package and they text and email me when my stuff arrives. Its great. Its also great because its a street address, so none of that 'cant deliver to PO Box' crap.

I had to put up with this crap with bloody Royal Mail. Numerous times I got the "Attempted delivery" crap, and someone was always in.

One time when I was waiting for an important letter, he even left my place till last, skipping mine and then coming back to it once he had been to other flat, dropped off the "attempted delivery" crap and then shot off.

Another time when I was out, I returned to find he put the "attempted delivery" slip into the letter box and it had nothing written on other than a tick in the attempted delivery box. No tracking number, no time stamp. So at that point I filed a complaint and since have had a different postman. Still havent received what ever it was he attempted to deliver that day. Bugs the hell out of me. After complaining about it, bloody royal mail sent me a form to fill out regarding it. But I still needed that sodding tracking number to get any results. Such a joke and pisses me off so much.

Now if I have tosend anything larger than a standard letter or of any importance I'll use parcel force or someone else. Hate royal mail. Theyre useless.

Sorry for the little rant, but get the same "attempted delivery" crap here.

Its a worldwide conspiracy I tell you

And the post office I have to pickup at now doesn't open until 9 AM, so I can't go on a work day. If USPS stops working on Saturdays I'll really have a problem.

I thought it was just going to be no home delivery on Saturdays but the branches would still be open.

I've had this happen to me as well, but my favorite USPS antic was when I received my diploma from graduating with my Bachelor's degree. It was shipped in a thick cardboard sleeve with "DO NOT BEND - DIPLOMA" stamped all over it. What does the delivery man do? Folds it in half (couldn't have been very easy to do) and crams it in my mailbox, ruining the diploma. I didn't work hard for years to have my diploma ruined by some damned USPS worker. I called and let them have it, and luckily I work at my school or I would've had to pay for a new one. No wait, I would've sent the bill straight to USPS.

I've only experienced this once, but it was from FedEx, not USPS.

About 9 years ago, I had just bought my first laptop ever online: A titanium Powerbook G4. It was my first laptop, my first mac, the titanium had first been released and it was virtually the first sleekly designed laptop ever, OSX had just come out. So yeah, I was excited. So excited I opted for Saturday delivery.

I was up very early and waited eagerly all morning. I went outside to get the mail, and found the "sorry we missed you" notice from FedEx.

Hell no. I didn't pay for Saturday delivery to get the shaft and have to wait until Monday.

I immediately called the distribution center who told me the truck was still out and couldn't be rerouted. So I drove to the distribution center and waited. And when the driver came I gave that F'er a real piece of my F'n mind.

I got my laptop and had all weekend to play with it.

I would of done the same if I was the mail man :rotfl

I am a letter carrier and do my very best to provide the best CS possible. I always go to the door to check if my customers are home.
It is a shame some of the stories I have read here, That all you need is a few a,,holes to make us all look like dumb, lazy workers.

Not Far. Yes. Yes. No.

Thanks. That may be worth it for me. Because I HATE waiting in line at the post office. I have one near my house, and two near my work, and the two big ones have a 45 minute line whenever I go 80% of the time. The smaller satellite post office is the one where the guy couldn't sell a girl two stamps, and more times than not, they send me to the larger branch office because they don't have the capabilities to do whatever I want, like mail an international package with insurance.

Speaking of mailing an international package with insurance, I've noticed that now their (USPS) system is completely F'ed. If I sell something on Ebay, which I do often enough, and will ship internationally, I like to print out postage from the paypal/ebay transaction. For some reason, on an international shipment, you can't purchase insurance online, it tells you to go into the post office to do that. So I go ahead and pay for and print out the four 2976 customs slips, using all of the stored information from the transaction. Then when I go into the post office, wait 45 minutes in line, and tell them all I want to do is add $400 of insurance to my already prepaid and prefilled postage forms, when they scan the bar code, none of the information comes up on their computer. So they have to retype everything, figure out new shipping costs, subtract what I already paid (which includes an online discount), and then add insurance. It's so g'damn ricockulously inefficient that we both get frustrated.

I know this isn't the post office worker's fault, but it's been like this for over a year now. And when they ring the postage up again, it's a crap shoot as to whether I get the online discount or not. Once for $400 insurance, which should be something like $5, I had to also pay the difference between online and non-online postage rates in addition to the $5 insurance. And the mean lady behind the counter made it sound like it was my fault somehow. The last time I had to do this, I asked to speak to a manager, explained to her what was happening, why their system was broken, and why I should only be responsible for the cost of insurances, not the difference in rates. The whole process took a good 30 minutes, and I'm sure everyone in line hated my guts for causing a holdup in the line, even though it was just a manager and not one of the workers moving the line. I really hope they get that fixed soon.

So yes, I still believe UPS >> USPS.

I only deal with USPS when I absolutely have to.

USPS is still the only place that can get you a letter shipped pretty much anywhere in the county for only 44 cents. You can't beat that!

Plus the Post Office is the only government organizatuib that supports itself. There are no tax dollars supporting it. It functions on its own revenue just like any other business :lecture

I'm sorry to hear about all the trouble people are having with UPS. Luckily for me, my UPS driver is an old friend of the family, so I always know he'll take good care of my stuff. If i'm not home he goes next door to leave it with my aunt and uncle.

Some of the drivers mentioned here sound alot like our garbage men. If they don't feel like picking up the trash you have stacked neatly beside your garbage can, they won't take it. Not to mention our trash can sometimes ends up in the ditch when they just push it back to the driveway.

Edit: I am NOT alone in this suffering. It seems Oscorp knows a greater injustice than I could ever. This thread henceforth is dedicated to him.

So, I'm at home one day, cleaning up the house and I see outside my window the USPS mail truck stop in front of my mail box. I think, "oh, maybe there's a package for me", because I was expecting at least a couple any day now. The mail dude sits in the truck for a few moments, and I'm standing in the middle of my living room with a vaccuum handle in my hands, leering out the ____ing window like Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones, anticipating a package to appear from the truck.

But no, the mail guy hops out of the truck with a handful of crap (bills and the usual) and stuffs them in my mail box. I'm thinking, "meh, just bills and fliers, I'll grab 'em later", so I get back to my house work.

An hour or two later I'm done and I head outside to grab the mail, and what do I pull out of my mail box? One of those USPS 'Sorry We Missed You!" slips. It indicates that I could pick up the package the next day.

WHAT?! The mail man didn't even bother to walk to my door step to deliver the package and instead just slipped that notice in my mail box? Were there extenuating circumstances that I don't know about? What an _______. Now I'm thinking this isn't the first time this is happened. I'm paranoid and wondering if that mail guy has it out for me.

I hate going to the post office when I don't need to.

Has this happened to any of you? Does it happen often?

same thing used to happen w/ me. i'd catch our mail lady not even attempting to drop a package off. just sticking the notice in the box and take off. it was like a 40' walk. i actually got in my car and chased her down once. i didn't say anything. just handed her the notice and she gave me the package. she dropped stuff off after that.

i figured it was because she was older and ready to retire. in fact we did get a new guy not long after that. but after almost 2 years...she's back. gah!

UPS and USPS are very reliable in my area... FedEx are the ones that seem to always delay the delivery by a day or two or say that no one was home when there is no door slip and I've been their waiting on them.

So when in the hell did the USPS change their box - large box dimentions. It use to be a box had to be over 84" total girth to be considered a "large box" but now anything with one dimention over 12" is a "large box" no mater what. This crap change just cost me $16. WTF!!!!!

Do you use UPS for that, USPS, or FedEx? I almost exclusively use USPS, but wonder if some other company is better for over-seas shipping in terms of cost with tracking.

USPS I heard is the best for international and the cheapest, UPS I heard is a butt raping.
