No chance in hell! If yur referring to me....... Dont hate Thrifty! :wave. All I know is, most of the statues SS releases only go up in value and the second you drive off the lot in a new car, yur car just lost thousands in value, so I would never sell off my whole collection for a car or stop collecting all together. Just sounds silly to me unless it was an emergency.

I hope my car runs smooth for a long time to come, because the thought of 400+ car payments after this car turns me off for sure. If I hit the lotto, then I wont mind so much :monkey3. If I still had my first car with it payed off; it really is crazy to think how much I could have banked all the years, but I love my car, so no regrets here.

It was for the OP....:lol

A piece is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Even then you are never guaranteed that value later on anyway.

I'm willing to pay whatever it takes :gah:

Mortgages suck but it beats the hell out of paying rent and having nothing to show for it but increasing rent bills. :lecture

People always tell me that I could own a home for what I pay in rent right now.

I pay $610 a month. No way a house payment would be that cheap, and that's not even including property taxes! :thud:

As my kids grow up, I'm finding that I'm getting a new appreciation for my statues and busts. My two and a half year old daughter loves going around and naming them all... In time, she'll start asking more questions about them. It's been more fun than I thought it might be to share some of my hobby interests with her.

:)

That's awesome! :rock

Southern MO it is....

My wife's friend has a 50,000 house, it's prolly cheaper than that.

Where I live it's hard to find a house for less that $200,000 unless you want a POS fixer-upper... which I don't.

Property taxes are crazy here too.

First, rent includes property taxes. Landlords don't pay expenses out-of-pocket when they have a renter ... they figure the expenses (including taxes) into the rent.

Second, buying is typically cheaper than renting for precisely that reason -- landlords don't go into the rental property business to lose money. It is common sense. Smart non-desperate landlords don't rent houses out for less than the mortgage payment ... which means they're taking more rent on the property than they're spending on the mortgage/taxes/fees. Which means it is costing you more per month to rent than it is costing them per month to own.

My wife and I rent our 2,550 sq.ft. house for the time being (we're paying off debts before we buy), and my parents own a 2,500 sq.ft. house very nearby (w/i about 10 miles). We're in the Houston suburbs. My parents pay about $300/mo. less than I do.

No kidding. Who's the redhead with the rack? Holy moly.

Of course. But my point still stands. It is cheaper per month for me to rent than it would be to own a home. And in many cases a lot cheaper.

Sorry for getting so off topic TF!
