OK,
I don't know if I should freak out, worry, or what...
I bought an item on Ebay last Thursday, from a seller with a not so perfect record,
but with a good deal on an item,
I exchanged messages with the seller to be sure the item he was selling
was as described, because he didn't have actual pics of the item...
But since he reassured me that the item was indeed complete, I bought it...

I got a shipping notification the next day, and shipping notice a couple of days ago, I'm waiting for the item to arrive.

Today I got this message from the seller...
really weird, and it's sort of a red flag for me...

Dear buyer can you please leave any feedback. Your package is shipped and I will need feedback so our family can eat tonight. Thank's

I mean... WTF???
Even if he's selling this item due to hardship... what the hell does this has to do with feedback?...
Potential scam?...What do you think?

Now, just in case, I paid with Credit Card, in case the item isn't what I ordered...
We'll see...

Maybe he needs the feedback so that paypal releases funds into his account.

Sometimes they need proof the item arrived. Its wierd.

Does this mean homeless people in the Philly subways are going to start asking me for feedback instead of money?

Some guy once asked me for $16, I told him if I could spare that I wouldn't be taking the subway.

Sounds weird - but you can leave feedback simply stating that he was pleasant to deal with but you haven't received the item yet.

No harm done there, and truthful.

But yeah, pretty odd.

:lecture Sometimes PayPal puts a hold (like 22 days) on a payment until positive feedback is received. I'd still wait until everything is on the up-and-up before I'd leave feedback, though.

You can leave feedback and still get a refund if you paid with paypal, and the item never arrives.

Just say in the feedback, the item isn't there yet but the seller has good communication and is friendly or something.

This happened to me recently with an item sent to Europe. I don't ship outside of N. America anymore. I waited over 3 ef'n weeks for something I even proved was shipped. Stupid. Both Ebay and Paypal are weak.

Yep I would just wait and leave the feedback as soon as you receive it. I know as a seller I hate when people wait to leave the feedback as it makes me wait for payment.

You guys are too funny!! :lol:lol

I didn't know Paypal would hold funds like that... weird, since the guy is in Virginia,
I'll just wait until item arrives...

Here's my response:

Hello there,
Item hasn't arrived yet, I'll leave feedback as soon as I get it.
I'm not sure I understand the rest of your message...

Thanks

Even if you left him feedback today it probably wouldn't even show until tomorrow through paypal. Then he would have to wait two to three business days for the money to be put into his bank account and have it to use. So chances are his family isn't eating until Monday now. :monkey1:lol

He would have been better off holding a cardboard "Will Sail Collectibles 4 Fud" sign at a highway offramp. :lol

Agreed, some new system they have for sellers under a certain amount of feedback I believe.

Maybe they want to read your feedback first before they eat tonight? Your feedback is like a prayer.
