One thing that i really wish Hot Toys would do is make accessories compatible across multiple figures in a line when compatible.

This has been touched on wht the Iron Man MK IV & MK VI and
The Terminator line...

  • The instructions of the iron man MK VI showed how the Tony Stark Headsculpt from the MK IV was compatible and worked with the MK VI.
  • The T-1000 Terminator Robert Patrick Headsculpt provided with the T-1000 disguised as Sarah Connor was included to compliment the sold separately T-1000 figure.
  • The machine gun supplied with the Bank Robber Joker was used by the Standard Purple Joker, so having the BRJ gave an accessory that can bes be used for the regular Joker.

I would very much like Hot Toys to maximise this as a way of making a collected line of figures compliment each other to reward those who collect a vast amount of the particular line without making it a neccessity that one would resent as having to buy them all.

A few examples of this could've working on past releases:

The Iron Man War Machine could've had a "navy drone base" similar to the one with the MK VI and with the MK VI itself these two could've been designed to work solo or connect to each other for a more dynamic display.

The Iron Man Gantry (solo version) could have supplied a screen accurate Tuxedo that Tony wore at the expo, for use with a TT body and any of the previous Headscuplts supplied with the previous Iron Man figures.

For Future Releases:

  • If a Sebastian Shaw figure is made for the X-Men First Class line a seperate Headsculpt or magnetic hair-piece exchange can be provided for him to use the helemt provided with Magneto.
  • Red Skull (if announced) could come with a bonus Battle-Damaged Cap Shield
.

On another note, i'd like to see 2-3 complimentory 1/6th scale environments to recreate particular scenes. (2-3 because the cost wouldn't be cheap it and they shouldn't take away from the figures being ordered)

  • The beach scene at the end of X-Men First Class could be the basis for an environment base to hold 2-3 figures from that line.
  • Or the inside fo the Blackbird Aircraft.

Thoughts?

I don't see any reason why they would make a series of compatible pieces/accessories to save the collector a few dollars. They're in the business of making money and striking while the iron is hot, not giving our wallets a breather.

Idea is to make collecting the whole line more beneficial as the accessories can be mixed and matched and combine to make more dynamic setups.

They didnt need to include the Robert Patrick head with the Sarah Connor T-1000, but they did so the owners of the Cop T-1000 had more options for display. If they made a Race Suit Tony Stark the Mark V briefcase make a perfect accessory.

These wouldnt be sold separately so there is no saving additional dollars for the customer or losing for HT, but if included or designed to work together they give added display options.

I don't know if it was as generous an attitude as this so much as if they didn't include it who the hell would've bought that figure? OK guys, you can have a good looking Sarah Connor and you can have an ugly one. But the ugly one is actually the T-1000, geddit? :lol

Ok, I see what you're saying. I misunderstood your OP.

At any rate, I can't comment about the T1000 b/c I don't follow that line at all. As for the race suit Tony or Tuxedo, I think that a release for them as individual sets is a very real possibility, considering the Casual Bruce Lee and Suit Bruce Lee releases only a month ago. Why would Stark be any different? :dunno

So for example if they did throw in a tuxedo from the movie with the solo gantry, then those who have the mark IV can use that headsculpt and a standard truetype and you got yourself an expo tony stark ready to go

I understand your point, but why would HT do that when they can market and sell a Tony Stark tuxedo version fr $160-$180?
