I really thought SSC would announce a 1:6 scale pre-order for next Friday. Instead Thursday's newsletter sucked!! We're alomst 1/4th of the way thru 2007 and all we have to show for it is a Bubo creature pack and a Derjerik expansion pack.

I guess I really expected SSC to unload in this the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. Instead all they've provided so far in '07 is a fart in the wind!!

I guess you missed the Darth Maul PF announcement and the new VS/Diorama announcement

It's so funny, people ***** and complain when too much stuff comes at once. Or they ***** and complain because not enough stuff is coming.

We will have our next 12" announcement in the next two weeks.

I just like to **** and complain in general regardless of subject. Make me feel important :rock :rock2 :rock :rock2

Hey, at least you know more announcements are coming eventually. There's plenty of folks who wish they could say the same about most of Sideshows other 12" lines.

I lamented that I had no shoes, until I saw the man that had no feet.

I dunno, the Maul PF and the brilliant start of the Diorama line have made the first two months of '07 quite happy for me.

But yes, I'm getting more and more glad that I don't collect the 12" figures. That line has been sorely lacking in significant announcements ever since Leia as Boussh, and that's pushing six long months now.

I asked if I could borrow his shoes, since obviously, he won't be needing them anymore. Bless him.

I was thinking about this earlier, and part of me is thinking, we've been told there will be a 1/6 figure at C4 that is iconic, which suggests that it is likely a character/version we haven't seen yet, but, being a non-attendee, I have hopes this figure will follow Darth Vader pattern and be a variant of a figure, so that would mean if it's a new figure, the PPO for the non-convention version would be soon and also, the release date of that figure would be shortly after the announcement if we're to get that version before the convention, so part of me thinks perhaps the lack of preorders could be because they're developing some core characters for an order and ship release instead of having to wait several months after PPO to finally get the figure.

Possibly. There's definitely some new strategy at work behind the scenes. Maybe they're tired of the whole advance pre-order and mass cancellations that go on when you order a figure 9 months in advance. Maybe they're giving themselves some time to close the gap. I would certainly prefer to pre-order a figure and receive it within a 3 month window.

Well part of my suspicion is looking at the delays with some of the other 1/6 lines, like LOTR and Terminator, I started wondering, because I collect these lines and they're great but they don't strike me as oh, that would have to take longer to make, so I wondered, maybe they're behind the scenes cranking hard at Star Wars to give us more IN HAND items for 2007 cuz at this rate, there will really only be 3 more figures we receive during the anniversary year which considering the slew we got last year would be a stinky scenario, so what if they're working to maximize how many we can actually add to our collection before the year is out.

threads like this are fun. how old are you again?

If that's the "secret plan" then I'm all for it.

My only other theory is that the line is moving away from PT Jedi which means having to put more time and work into costume and accessorie design where last year's realeases were like a cookie cutter production run, the Jedi outfits were basically the same throughout the realases, lightsabers were the same but for the hilts, if you start doing Leia's and Lukes and Palpatines and other characters they'll be hitting the drawing board for cloth ideas and things like that where they didn't have to think too much with last years figures.

Yes, except they had all last year to get ready for this... exactly for the reasons you state: cookie cutter patterns free up time to prep other figures.

More likely its the original reason: shorten the time between pre-order and delivery; thus stop excessive cancellations.
