Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

I agree that Once Upon A Time is one of the best westerns ever. It is my personal favorite. But Liberty Valence is still my number one western want, as he has been for years. Such a perfect western bad guy.
I'm surprised you didn't mention this character of Lee Marvin from Cat Ballou:

I'm sorry; I know we're talking classics here, but, again, this guy. There's just something extremely appealing about him. Bridges' portrayal was fantastic, and the character design is what I think makes me want it so much. A high-end figure would be absolutely badass:

Someone will make Bridge's Rooster at some point - maybe even Rainman, who has expressed interest. I feel like now, with Iminime stirring interest with the trio and Leone in general - is the best time for Harmonica and Frank. Honestly - if you bought any of the trio, watch Once Upon a Time in the West. It is an amazing movie.

The only way it should happen, or the only way you'd want it?

My way or the highway :) It's probably never gonna happen anyway, so keep dreaming for that Bridges Rooster & I will have my fingers crossed for any Wayne that might get made down the road

Absolutely. Mind you, I'm not campaigning that it should be their next project or anything, I just think it'd be awesome to have, at some point. As for Rainman, I'm not sure about that. His Dude is awesome, but I'm not sure his style would benefit Rooster. No offense meant to him, but, to be honest, I sort of prefer IMINIME's attention to accuracy.

That isn't to say that Rainman's stuff isn't accurate, but the thing about his stuff, that's arguably the reason for his large fanbase, is that he's got his own "style." I'm not saying it doesn't work, but I can't say it's for everyone, (I'm not too big on it, myself). I think IMINIME sticks more to the source material and focuses less on artistic flare, and that's why I think, for me, I prefer their work; it matches up to its own on-screen counterpart almost exactly. I find that Rainman's work has a sort of "through the looking glass" feel to it, where you're seeing how he sees these characters, and, as I said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I think, again, that it's an acquired taste.

Don't be greedy. You're telling me that you'd deprive us Bridges fans, even if you already had a young Wayne?:lol

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

Not a huge Cat Ballou fan, even though that's what Marvin won the Oscar for somehow. I'm a massive Coen Bros. fan, but no doubt Wayne is the way to go for Rooster.

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

I don't know. Wayne's Rooster is something you see on a monument. A 12 foot tall bronze statue in the center of some town somewhere, because Wayne, like the statue, was larger than life. To me, when I see that, I don't see "Rooster Cogburn;" I see "John Wayne." Whereas, with Bridges, I think the reason I like his interpretation is that, like the title of the source material, he's a man of true grit, however boisterous or obnoxious he may be at times, it's an interpretation where the character isn't overshadowed by the man. Bridges is Cogburn; Cogburn is Wayne, if that makes any sense.

Plus, it'd be a nice precursor to another Bridges character that the Coen's are famous for. You're telling me you wouldn't like to see His Dudeness and Shomer Shabbos Walt, at some point?:lol

I'm just saying, assuming IMINIME already did a Wayne from, say, Rio Bravo, I'd rather have a Bridges Rooster, and a more versatile Wayne.

Ah, well, I'd still like to see what Denny and his team could do with it.:lol

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

If I could only have Cogburn, I would choose John Wayne. If I could have John Wayne in Rio Bravo, The Cowboys, etc. then I would be ok with Bridges as Rooster.

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

That's what I'm saying. To me, John Wayne didn't have a defining role, John Wayne defined his roles, and, frankly, I think that most people, when they imagine John Wayne, imagine something more in-line with Rio Bravo. Red shirt, vest, and 10 gallon hat; not an eyepatch, mutton chops, and a trench coat.

Agreed. To me, Rooster Cogburn is such a specific character (eye patch, jacket, etc.). I would want my John Wayne to be more chacteristic of his other movies.

The Searchers as Ethan Edwards man :lecture

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

I'm just saying, when you picture Wayne, you see him
More as the traditional cowboy of those films than the old boozer from True Grit, do you not?

I agree with you on that. To me it is like Eastwood. Whether it is GBU, A Fistfull of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, High Plains Drifter, he was basically the same person. But, a Clint from Joe Kidd, just wouldn't seem right. Very good movie, but not a good representation of our image of Clint.
