Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

Man there are a lot of interesting points in this thread.

I don't have a problem with Wake selling his Blondie, after all he bought it before CS, he set a low bid and let people go with it, but he also used pics that were paid for by iminime in the sale, so not sure about that but all this doesn't bother me.

What does slightly bother me is if I ever disagree with something now in an Iminime thread, and mind you I never am bashing the figure I am merely stating a difference of opinion, I am then bombarded by Wake and fellow "brown nosers" haha with i guess you could call it "attacks". The jist being I avoid any criticism now against iminime products due to the fact that I don't want to be hassled with people all jumping down my throat. Again this is just my own personal beliefs and aren't a public fact haha so go easy

W
Personally I would probably not patronize a buissiness that participates in such a practice---------------------------------------------unless I really really had no other choice.
But not on any regular basis or from regular stock
Just FYI, Big Bad Toy Store does this all the time, as do lots of other online e-tailers. Sideshow is really an exception to the rule by always offering their stock for MSRP, no matter how rare or valuable they may become.

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

Iminime didn't pay for those photos. I took those when my DX arrived. I posted those pics AFTER most had posted in hand pictures of their figures remember?

The trio shots have a different background.

Additionally you are welcom to disagree or criticize anything. Go back and view the WIP threads ... I'm the first to admit when a likeness is off and the first to go to Denny when there's a consensus.

This is the truth I think, but not just for Iminime threads, but Rainman threads, and really Hot Toys and Sideshow threads as well. I've tried to have reasoned discussions before on a variety of issues, but people have their pet favorites that they defend, sometimes justly, sometimes just for the sake of defending them. People overreact, or critics go too far, and conflict occurs. In the custom world, artists and businessmen like Rainman and Denny get frustrated and take a break from the forum (sometimes for good reason, sometimes for less than good reason IMO), their supporters get up in arms and start blindly tearing down anyone with any criticism, while we also see trolls who have no interest in an artist coming in and criticizing price, or behavior, or the collectors, or whatever, and it becomes a kind of cycle. I have found that with Denny it is best not to criticize at all, for fear that he'll get angry and stomp off.

I think, given Omar's relationship, it's worth giving some thought to his selling behavior vis-a-vis Iminime products, particularly when he publicly promotes his sales in these threads. But these discussions should be based on evidence and reason, not conjecture and apparent bias.

Couple of things. ... Denny doesn't mind criticisms when they are based in the work. For instance "hey Denny, the forehead is too big" he doesn't take that personally. But when people make comments about his work ethic or willingness to give the best product or lowest price without understanding the intricacies of his business he does get upset. And I think rightfully so.

Regarding my sales practices... This is really the only time I've sold a figure on eBay that I bought from Iminime since becoming a rep. And I for see it being one of the only times I will. I don't buy the ones I don't like (and yes I buy--I don't get them for free). And the reason I posted in the thread that my Blondie was for sale had more to do with the fact that it was obviously my Blondie in the auction. My pics. My horse. Etc. and I wanted to be transparent about it. Remember my starting bid was $50

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

As I recall, one of the biggest reasons Denny got frustrated before was criticism over how a final product turned out in relation to expectations. So, I would say it's tough to gauge what's going to turn him off. But regardless of that, there definitely is that knee jerk response from defenders no matter what that ajk is referring to, so the skittishness some feel is understandable.

As for your auction, I only meant that you made it public here to promote it, which is also the thread by which you promote direct sales of Iminime product. That fact makes it worth discussing IMO, though I don't think you did anything wrong considering all that we know (i.e., you didn't get special advantages in acquiring the DX, and were selling product you picked up the same as any other collector would).

Yeah don't feel the need to justify any of this mud slinging Wake, Most of the times people have got their facts wrong & are just making spurious accusations.

Just curious... were the boots improved this time around on Blondie?

Yes I think the boots on the Trio Blonde have been improved, Wake put up some pictures a few pages back, when he got the proto figs. Re: page 70 onwards.

Did you get the trio as well Shells?

Re: [iminime] The Bad & The Ugly - Completing 'The Cowboy'

Yep, what can I say? I think im a bit bonkers :exactly::lol

Nah your not just sell the cowboy from the trio when it arrives next year lol get some of your 3k back. If you'd bought a full set for 3k as well as the trio that would make you bonkers. This way you've picked up the DX sculpt.

That sucks, but inevitable I guess.

What sucks about it is that WE KNOW ONE OF THE 36 DX BUYERS GAVE IT TO Q. Now to find out which one. Its really dumb on the part of that DX buyer... all they are doing is diminishing the value of their own collectible. I hope Q paid 3k for right to cast that head.

I don't know that it will affect value much honestly. Serious collectors aren't going to be satisfied with Q's cheap counterfeit junk. As for finding who it was, it would be nice if that happened, but I don't think that's likely. Maybe if it were 3 or 5 guys instead of 30+.
