Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

That price is clearly trying to take advantage of buyers. Bill's going price was OFFERED BY SELLERS determining it's FAIR VALUE. You should get your facts straight!

But your not arguing the sum of $4000 for Bill lol. I thought he was worth $3000! Has he really gone up that much in the last fortnight ;)

If you own one why don't you try and test the waters! But if you don't how could comment on anything if you haven't been approached with offers!

I don't get why so many are trying to piggyback off of that figures value. What's even worse are these phony collectors who claim praise for an artists work but CONTINUOUSLY dump there work. To each their own and do what you will with you stuff, but real enthusiasts miss out because of these opportunists hurting the hobby.

I do not own Bill no. I have 3 Rainman figures alas he is not one of them :( maybe one day. Just out of interest I have a Wonka Fullset I may be selling in the next few days as I have managed to find myself the DX what do you think the 'Determined by multiple OFFERS FROM MANY INTERESTED BUYERS that created it's FAIR VALUE' is? Just thought I'd check with the Rainman price guide before potentially offending anybody.

I see both my posts quoting you reflect quite nicely your constant need to edit your posts ;)

I'm not sure how buyers are being taken advantage of. No one is holding a gun to any given buyer's head. Fair value is what a buyer/seller agree is fair, and that's the long and short of it IMO.

That's fine! I sure hope that they sell for that much because it can only help to add value to the work not hurt it. But clearly this is an attempt to cash out on a trend of recent sales on some of these figures. That price is bull****! and it's a piggyback move. If it's on eBay why not allow bidding and let fellow collectors determine it's value?

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Because some sellers are risk averse. If someone really wants to just sell and let the market determine price, then they will list at 99 cents and let it go. But some may not necessarily want that to happen. I personally don't list items on eBay for much more than they typically sell for, but I list my starting bid price as the lowest I'm willing to take for something 99% of the time, and so I never feel much remorse about selling. If no one bids, then I re-list, or hold onto it. No biggie. Of course, listing $2K or more for a given Rainman figure is trying to cash in on secondary market prices for Rainman stuff, but so is listing an auction at 99 cents if you know it's gonna go for a couple thousand dollars. The only way you avoid that is re-selling for retail as a Buy It Now, and there aren't many who are going to do that.

The answer to your question is however deep the seller is making you Dig in your Pockets, is what it's going for.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Whatever your paying for the DX is what it's probably going for I'd say. So the anwser to your question is how deep the other person selling you the DX is making you Dig in your Pockets.

No you misunderstand I have already purchased the DX I know what that's currently worth a quick look on eBay will tell you. It will need to be prised from my cold dead hands before I sell it! I have a Wonka fullset that I picked up earlier this year whilst still on the hunt for the DX set that is the one I will be selling. Just Wonka no Oompa...

Surely that same logic could be applied to the Blondie and Mortimor currently listed on eBay no? :dunno

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Hmm so again that aftermarket pricing guidance... I will say it again. There is no such thing as a 'fixed' aftermarket price. Its whatever one is willing to pay for to be able to prise it from the owner... or whatever the owner manages to sell it off for... simple economics.
The Blondie figure's pricing should be testament to that... two listings with two different outlooks... Surely both can coexist... but if both will sell is again a different question.

How about a Bill the Butcher from Trev :monkey1

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I'm the type of collector who only needs to have 1 "ultimate" version of a given character in my collection. I've never felt the desire to hold on to past versions of anything if a representation that I feel is "better" comes along. I don't have the money, and I don't have the space. Now I'm not sure what Steve paid for his Rainman Blondie and Mortimer, but he could share the same philosophy, and he could just be trying to recoup his cost on the figures.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Considering that Iminime is now apparently doing at least 3 characters previously done by Rainman, I would say the odds are pretty good that Iminime tackles Bill at some point :lol
Actually I have zero interest in Butcher... because of the character. Yes please dont kill me but I didnt really like Gangs of New York that much.

Ill put the resulting :cuckoo: that this post will invoke...

Both of us must be crazy because I agree with you 100%.

Rather see a bunch of characters; Heat, princess bride, wizard of oz, Michael Corleone, gandalf, brave heart.

$4000.....**** Off is the right sentiment. Trying to create a secondary market without any real demand (Like Bill) is a cheapmove. But if someone will pay that price then it's settled.

Anyways, This Blondie looks fantastic! I hope we get more details soon!
