Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I'm the type of collector who only needs to have 1 "ultimate" version of a given character in my collection. I've never felt the desire to hold on to past versions of anything if a representation that I feel is "better" comes along. I don't have the money, and I don't have the space. Now I'm not sure what Steve paid for his Rainman Blondie and Mortimer, but he could share the same philosophy, and he could just be trying to recoup his cost on the figures.

You could be right and that maybe he is trying to break even. :dunno
IMO I wouldn't pay that much but if people really desire to have that figure and pay that price then all the power to them.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Considering that Iminime is now apparently doing at least 3 characters previously done by Rainman, I would say the odds are pretty good that Iminime tackles Bill at some point :lol

I think Trev taking on Bill would be a dream come true. I own Scotts, and Rainman's so Trev's version would be a dream. Scotts and Rainmans Bill are in great demand let's add Trev for the Trifecta!

I can get behind this! :clap especially when it's difficult to even find one on the market and also the going price of what it's worth is really crasy.

Honestly I don't think even Grove could improve much on Rainman's sculpt, so I don't think I would be so interested. . .but maybe if he did a different sculpt from later in the film (i.e., not the version with the leather hat sculpted on), and if Iminime could do a different, corresponding outfit. . .

I personally think S.Peterson aka Velvet Morning's Blondie is the most accurate one to date.:)....and the hardest to obtain.

I'm not sure how buyers are being taken advantage of. No one is holding a gun to any given buyer's head. Fair value is what a buyer/seller agree is fair, and that's the long and short of it IMO.

Thank you. Somebody with a brain.

Actually I have zero interest in Butcher... because of the character. Yes please dont kill me but I didnt really like Gangs of New York that much.

Ill put the resulting :cuckoo: that this post will invoke...

I'll join you bro!:1-1: DDL performance was tops but never felt the flick like that! Commence flames! :monkey3

Both of us must be crazy because I agree with you 100%.

Rather see a bunch of characters; Heat, princess bride, wizard of oz, Michael Corleone, gandalf, brave heart.

I'll throw my hat in there as well. :lol
And yet the Rainman figure is one of the more popular he has done. I think there would be a market for another Bill (even though I wouldn't buy if it was the same outfit as before).

I should say that this is a case where a great performance trumps a film as a whole, because I agree that Gangs isn't a top tier Scorsese film. But the performance is so damn good and the figure is so great that I ultimately had to buy this guy.

I think Kara is talking about Rainman's Bill sculpt, to which I'm inclined to agree. Blondie on the other hand...trust me, it's no contest.

How about talking about an overlooked subject like Iminine re-doing something Rainman has already done? A Big F-U to the current Blondie owners in my opinion, but I won't cry about it. I'll just carry on and jump on the bandwagon (obviously with your permission) :wink1:

Rainman was actually consulted before Denny approved the project. And I can understand the frustration, but I imagine that most of it will dissipate once you have this figure in-hand. :exactly:

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Yeah, I was talking about Bill Neo. I don't care much for Rainman's Blondie honestly, and have little doubt Trevor will give us something mindblowing.

Why should any company producing unlicensed characters feel the obligation to cater to the feelings of owners of unlicensed characters produced by a different artist?

After all, its art, meaning that its more or less unique or, at least, severely limited.

There's a Velvet Morning Blondie, a Rainman Blondie and now there'll be an iminime Blondie. The ******* you comes from human beings being novelty driven and willing to discard any previous iteration (followed by a sudden drop in value of those same pieces which shouldn't matter if one collects them for being grail figures and not as investments) as soon as a new one shows up on the horizon. That, however, is not any artist's fault.

If anyone has the moral right to complain in this case, its Sergio Leone or Arrigo Colombo if they hold the ip rights to this ;)

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Bill is my favorite from Rainman, but to say there is no room for improvement is a bit of stretch. I think Scott's Bill captures the character more even though it doesn't seem to be as refined as Rainman's. All figures have room for improvement, but that doesn't diminish their greatness.

I fully understand this point which makes this even more disappointing, but at the same time I am excited to see what the improved Blondie looks like. A lot of mixed emotions on this one.

Of the three, Angel Eyes came out great. I agree Blondie could use an improvement and especially in the height department. Tuco needs an immediate upgrade.

If people want to continue depreciating Blondie's value, by selling it for less, than thats their prerogative.

I have the Full sets, complete with Secret Items. To me its a lot more than these ridiculous prices people are putting them on for sale for.

I would love to see someone try. Anything is possible. . .but, I've seen many 1/6 scale figures in my day, and RM's Bill is in the top tier. For that reason, it's hard for me to imagine what an improvement would look like. But again, could happen of course. With Hot Toys for example, it seems like they are always making us question previous ideas of what a great figure is with all the improvements they constantly throw our way.

ah okay, sorry :) my bad!

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Rainmans Blondie has Always been valued on average $700-$900. Where you getting this $2000 dollar number from. Don't be mad because you got jerked on that deal.
