I'm guessing its got a lot to do with the subject of this very thread.
There aren't going to be enough DXs to go around and some people are going to be very annoyed if they've paid for a VIP membership and still can't get the exclusive version.

Maybe they figure they already have enough members that are going to be racing to get this and want to limit the rage emails?

You're probably very right about this but all those with this frame of mind aren't viewing this correctly. The VIP is a great membership if you are going to buy several pieces within 12 months and can make use of 3 sculpts. It doesn't ever guarantee (nor should it) a figure and everybody has a chance of scoring or missing all the same.

The nice perk is that you get to order before general sales day but in a situation like this, half of the purpose is defeated. This is so popular that Denny is allocating some to VIP's and some to GP; it's not like VIP's get first crack and whatever is left goes to GP. That in itself is a very fair move on Denny's part.

If you guys think this is bad I wonder what you'd be saying if you were involved in Rainman's recent Vince sale where he didn't allocate and VIP's ate up 31 sets and only left 4 for GP. Or when Beto makes 10-15 figures of something that 40 people want. Try snagging one of those in a thread full of wild rabid dogs

The point is this is the way the custom world works. As far as the VIP spots go, that’s something different. As I said I think that Iminime has a lot more recognition now and naturally there will be more people looking for memberships. I don’t think it’s a good time for Denny to close the book but maybe he has very good reasons that we just aren’t seeing yet

No question that anyone willing to pay the $300.00 premium -- even with the extra goodies -- should be guaranteed a spot. That is basically the sole reason that convinced me that the premium wasn't worth the risk of paying and then not getting a DX. Anyone that's paid and misses out will feel like a chump.

I agree with you to an extent. Ideally, a VIP member should be guaranteed a DX spot. However, that isn't the sole reason why many have joined. I presume you already know the benefits of said membership and I will not divulge into details. What I will tell you is that if all 70 VIPs order a Cowboy(DX or Reg), there will only be around 10 left for general public. Take into consideration that a few sets will go to retailers. Actually Beto was kind enough to extend the Friday the 13th Jason III release to 3 additional people (of which I was one) and allow me an extra spot on a second run of the Evil Dead Bruce Campbell figure. All of which he's doing himself with Lu. He didn't come on the board and promise 10 figures and then a few days before release cut 3. Not the same thing at all, especially given the divergence of resources between a 2 person team and Iminime. At the same time, whatever... it's their business and I'll get over not getting one if that's the case. Just Iminime and Beto & Lu are not comparable, IMO.

Yes, and assuming you've read my previous posts, I've acknowledged the VIP membership is totally worth it for a certain type of collector. I have zero interest in Tony, Rick, Darryl, etc. For collectors that it matters to, it's totally worth paying the $300.00 and missing out on a DX of another favourite character. But for those that paid just to get Clint and then still miss out, not so much.

Man people will complain about anything, the VIP Membership has been open for so long, and it never said guaranteed DX spot, what is there to complain about, Denny can do whatever he wants with his company anyway yet majority of the time he comes here and listens to his customer's suggestions and does some major changes to his figures based on what we have to say, one thing he does that people don't agree with and the complaining starts.

Not only do VIPs get 10% discount on full sets, they also get 3 free head sculpts that they can sell off to earn back a big fraction, if not all, of the membership fee. I hope you see the bigger picture here.

Lol, I guess you didn't read my previous posts, then. I was sorely tempted to get the membership and sell off the headsculpts just to get this one figure, because it's the only one that means anything to me out of all of them. I'm guessing I wasn't the only one but maybe I'm wrong on that. Anyway, I'm only talking about my specific POV on this. I've acknowledged again and again that the membership is worthwhile for certain collectors, so don't take it as a personal slight if you find some other value in Iminime than this Eastwood sculpt. I don't, and that's not an insult to them.

Honestly, if this sells out in seconds, and if Hydeous is right and Denny upped the edition size, it wouldn't bother me one bit. Putting all the VIP discussion aside for a minute, I wish everyone who wants a DX could get one. Like Pop says, that isn't how the custom world works, and the rarity is truly something that drives the collecting here oftentimes. But still, it sucks that some folks are really gonna want this and may have to miss out. Hell, I may be included among that group, and if so, I think that will really suck

Yes, I agree. It could be done and maybe at a profit/break-even/at-worst-small-loss (and I considered all of these) but I'm not willing to go through that much hassle just to have the privilege to spend $650.00 - $700.00 on someone's figure. To me, the fact that I'm willing to buy it should be enough. Anyway, as I've said before, I'll make a run for the figure and if I miss out, then that's totally fine. I had some issues with their model but really in the end it's their gig and none of my business. Best of luck to everyone interested in this release.

I know, and you have my sympathy. I'm simply trying hard to convince Invictus that the VIP membership is worth the risk even for his/her situation. I should just stop because the opportunity is gone regardless of his/her opinion lol.

Yeah that's a bummer, I just spent all day convincing myself to get the VIP to ensure I get a regular figure. Kinda disappointed that I can't do that now. I guess I will have to take my chances on open order day - I am going to be really bummed if I miss this.

Honestly though Jeff, I really don't think it is worth the risk. It doesn't lock a spot so it's still a gamble. All of us know what time the starting bell is so all the VIP's essentially have an equal shot at hitting or missing.

The VIP membership is no way structured to be a tool to help out with a "one and done". It best serves people who are in it for the long haul. (I'm not trying to be Mr. Big in the least bit so plese no one misunderstand me. This is just an example of how and who the membership benefits) I own 6 Iminime figs, have 4 on PO (not including Cowboy) and am anxiously waiting for 5+ that have been green lit to come to life. The more you buy the 10% discount eventually pays for the membership; past that you enjoy a true discount and get 3 free sculpts.

I know that you keep mentioning that you can sell off the sculpts to get your initial investment (+) back which is very true, but also consider that some people want to use the sculpts too . There is definitely a ton of value in that as the sculpts usually run $120-130 to buy. I've seen that perk come in extra handy in situations like Ra's & Neo to name a couple. Denny offered a small batch of Ra's to VIPs and that was key for people who missed the full fig. People got an extra Neo for their pt. 2 bashes.

Then there is the presale perk. There's a lot your $300 gets you but it's not meant for the one & done

What I meant with my comparison between Iminime and Beto/Lu was that they are both custom artists that are limited (for different reasons) in how many pieces they can make; and this type of product will more times than not leave some people in the cold because there is just simply not enough to go around.

And Iminime is a team but they are not huge. IDK what they are up to know but excluding Denny I think that they are about 7-9 in total. That is accounting sculptors and painters. They are also working on several projects at once so they are spread basically as thin as Beto & Lu are; and Iminime is pumping out 4-7 times the run that they are
