Thanks, Kara, much appreciated. I can't help but take the criticisms a bit personally, although I know I shouldn't.

Regarding the sculpt's paint, here is a pitcure of the final paint sample that was shown before the proto pics (for comparison purposes):



Regarding the outfit, I think some futzing will help (as it always does), but even without it, I think this figure has Rainman's beat in every department but the shape of the boots.

Dude I'm not directing anything at you. I know that if it wasn't for you this would not be the quality that it currently is and you did a great job coordinating an awesome group of talents. You have a lot to be proud of so definitely don't take the nits to heart! But I stand by my feelings on the boots and it's not meant as a personal shot at you so please don’t take it that way. I just don't know how those got the thumbs up. If they were the best that they could be, then maybe another avenue should've been explored.

I really think the outfit is pretty damn good for the price point so that's not one of my nits at all (there's no way to expect Rainman/Lupita/Kato quality tailoring at this price). I love what I see of the gun and I think the belt looks super official. My only problems are the age of the sculpt, the boots and maybe the color of the hair. This pic that you showed of the DX looks much better than it appears in the protos. Do you have one of the regular sculpt that is equally as convincing?

But then, folks do the same with Rainman (particularly with sculpts). Is there any custom artist in existence that produces pieces folks couldn't potentially quibble with on the final product?

This is absolutely true. I know that you and I differ in the way we like to see artists handle releases because I believe that this particular art form should have more to do with accuracy and realism than artistic license. No one is perfect no matter how talented of an artist they are and I believe that most artist can use a little outside perspective to point out some things that they overlooked.... but some things is one thing and many things are another. Many things is beginning to get a bit frustrating.

If you go on right at the preorder time, I can almost guarantee you will, i;ve gotten what i wanted at preorder time of super popular items with runs of 10 or less. 50 is a big run. Just don't doddle or think about it, have your mind made up you want it before preorder time and you will be OK

No one is perfect no matter how talented of an artist they are and I believe that most artist can use a little outside perspective to point out some things that they overlooked.... but some things is one thing and many are another. Many things is beginning to get a bit frustrating.

Awesome I'm sure this will be amazing I'm getting regular boots with some weathering will be good. I am kind of thinking of getting DX but with a run of 35 I doubt I'd get it so I doubt I'll try

I wish that Denny's 3D sculptor had started 8 months ago, as I would have surely explored that avenue....alas, he didn't. Like others have said, at least they're not generic, over sized plastic boots from "xyz" company. I still think that with some minor tweaking to the sole and weathering, they will look excellent. I still think I made the right decision.

I somehow missed that Dane put the pics up on the first page, Ive been looking at 155 which are of a lesser quality, I think many might be pleasantly surprised with the way the figure looks in the higher quality pics...

My beef is with the poncho, the velcro on the shirt and the boots which obviously cant be fixed (and the paint job bringing out the age a bit) otherwise? Damn fine in my estimation. I'm pumped!

Those pics are much better, IMO. Only nits that stand out for me are the boots and hands. Shirt and poncho don't bug me at all and I'm guessing they will be relatively easy to futz.

Those would do nicely, but their site is all screwy. Can't even tell if those are in-stock or not.

It doesn't have a big sold out label on the picture so they should be in stock.

I'm a little confused. In actuality there is absolutely no difference at all in the paint job between the sample pic and the proto pic, right? That's what I assume when you say the lighting is to be blamed and I hope my assumption is true.

You did a bang up job dude! I know that you poured your heart into this and it's not easy being the middle man coordinating with a bunch of folks via email. I love the set and it looks great. Any improvements are always welcome but nonetheless I'm all over it come tonight

BTW, who made the belt? I thought they were credited somewhere but I can't remember.

Also, when you speak of the tweak to the sole and heel of the boot, is this something that is going to be done by SMcG? If so can you update us with what the results of the fixes could be?

That's exactly it. The sculpt in both the sample and proto pics is the same piece
