That's fine, everyone (just about) is welcome here. But if you didn't have such an elitist attitude it you'd probably be more fun. These are just figures, statues, etc... not anyting worth getting huffy over.

I'm don't get huffy over things. I just have a strong opinion. Huffy is when I talk about Politics and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I've never used bad language here or attacked anyone personally. I've tried my best to post in well written post. Also I've made it known that I do buy Sideshow items. And while I do have a problem with their 12" (mainly buy their 12” because of their licenses. Medicom isn't going to do a Clancy Brown Kurgen or Jason Voorhees anytime soon) I think everything else they do is great -which is why I buy from them.

Also just for the record I don't have that much of an issue with the other Star Wars 12" Sideshow has. Luke to me is the worst one of the group. The Anakin doll is ok; he doesn't look like Hayden at all. Looks like they made Anakin a bit more hardcore looking than Hayden actually is, which is a bit of artistic license I don't mind seeing as I think it reflects the spirit of the character well (just like I think the Medicom Luke reflects the spirit of the character well). Mace, Qui Gon, Obi Wan is ok. I don't really have a problem with any of them, a quick repaint of the heads and they could look very very good.

The Medicom Boba looks outstanding. The positives of them having a thinner body is that the armor could go over the body and lay very naturally. I can’t wait to get that one. Same deal with Vader and his likeness looks just like Sebastian Shaw (from the paler Special Edition –they nailed it).

Name calling and references to body parts is not appropriate and some have been removed. This is not a kiddie board - but is intended to be family friendly for the most part.

Just did another comparison... I'll be the first one and say the nose is off.. but other then that I think it's pretty dead on.

Overall, I prefer Sideshow (what do you expect), but I really enjoy the one Medicom figure I have. I anticipated Vader being wonderful and he is! I keep him seperate from the rest of my collection because of the height difference, but he's a super-high quality figure. I'm not sure he looks exactly like Shaw, although I think they got the essence of the character down beautifully.

I will never buy another Medicom figure. It's not a quality issue. It's expensive! i just can't afford it. And I don't think it's worth the price, though, as I said, I am very happy with my Vader. He's easily a $75 figure, but not the $150 I paid. He's gorgeous, but I can't afford to collect the line, so I'll stick with Sideshow, which everyone knows I am VERY happy with.

I'm not sure I understand the need to contrast and compare these figures. To what end are we making these comparisons? I doubt anyone needs to mull over which figure they want at this point, and the quality of both figures is beyond dispute, whatever their individual flaws.

I'd love to paint a Medi-Luke head, just so I can see what the real sculpt is. My Medi-Vader is the ONLY figure i have that has gone un-modified. I'm willing to paint up a $40 - $70 figure, but once we get into three digits, he stays as he came! I'm even scared to throw out that enormous box he came in!!

lol... why cant people just get over it. the medicom luke is a great figure, but not the best for likeness.
lol thats what i've been saying!! but then the bashes, oh so many bashes. :lol

I only have the SSC Luke, which I think is great, but I kinda like the Medicom version better from all of the pics I've seen. The tailoring of the costume looks great, and while the likeness isn't as strong as Sideshows IMO, it still gets the job done. Plus it's on that lovely RAH body.

I couldn't find any other threads, and I didn't think it was worth it to make a new thread, so here's a quick repaint of Medi Luke.

Just the hair, but I think it helped a lot (the green highlights really didn't do it for me).

Nah, I wish...
I'm brutally untalented with brush and paints! I have friend who does all the customizing for me.
I'm pretty specific about the effects I want to achieve, and I have some interesting ideas on how to achieve them, but I let him do all the dirty work!
I'm sure he ignores all my wild ranting and just does the things he knows how to do... and he always hits the spot!
