If I remember right though, in the movies, you don't see it that often.

He's known for it, but he was also embarrassed by it, kept it hidden by his hair most of the time. IMO it being hidden by sculpted hair isn't a big deal. Not like that's going to be what people focus on when looking at the figure anyways.

Isn’t it like, his whole thing?

His scar and the surrounding story is a thing of folklore in the wizarding world so Harry often wears a fringe to keep it covered and avoid attention.
He never strategically parted his hair specifically to flaunt it so it was a character-honouring choice by InArt to sculpt his hair over it.

The fact you cant see the scar with the sculpted hair, makes rooted the easy choice on this imo, now im just between getting the giant backdrop or not
The scar is a massive bummer for me, I wish they would have been able to find a way to show at least some of it, but I guess it wasn't always visible in the film either, so it just is what it is. I personally hate rooted hair as I think it makes these look less lifelike and more Barbie like...but I guess that's why art is entirely subjective. At least I'm saving a bunch of money just getting the sculpted.

In most cases I agree with you on the rooted hair, but InArts is like no other and very, very well done.

Yea, I can understand saying HT/Phicen/SWToys rooted hair attempts being akin to Barbie hair but not InArt. With InArt, it makes them look more lifelike, not less.

Easy comparison would be the sculpted and rooted Joker. Rooted Joker looks much more lifelike than the sculpted. Or even better comparison would be InArt Pennywise vs HT Pennywise. InArt takes the cake for realism. I would say sculpted and rooted Aragorn are pretty comperable to each other though, more so than the rest.

Nope, and that’s another concern I somewhat have with InArt. Yes they released the Joker and it’s a pretty good set, but they already have quite a backlog of figures that are still to be released. I feel like a lot of the stuff they’re working on will be a year or longer out. So essentially Hot Toys wait times.

Thats definitely concerning. Plus with a character like Joker any defects or obscurities in the flesh tone paint can be covered up with the white make up.

Same thing with Pennywise. I’ll be curious to see a character with normal flesh colored paint apps.

I also wonder how long we’ll be collecting pre-orders instead of figures. I know all the companies tend to have that issue but there’s already a fair sized backlog from InArt.

Probably not the most viable thing but it’s almost too bad they couldn’t just announce a figure or two at a time and then work on and deliver them in a reasonable amount of time instead of piling up more and more.

Another thing is that the assortment of figures they’ve put up for pre-order so far is pretty random. The only two that are part of a set are Gandalf and Aragorn, and really they’re from the same film but aren’t necessarily characters I’d associate together. It would be nice to know if they plan to complete lines or if we’ll continue getting random releases.

If Pennywise is Q3 July/August then Gandalf either releases in late Q3 (September), but imo more likely Q4, which means that from PO which was May 18th 2022 for Gandalf until release somewhere between 16-19 months will pass.

That means Aragorn is going to be Q2 2024 at the earliest if they do everything with the same speed.

I think it's sort of damned if they do, damned if they don't. You already have ppl saying that InArt is taking too long with showing new product and we should have already seen Legolas, Ringwraith and Dune go up for order. So if they slowed down even more, more ppl will get upset. With TDK Joker, folks on this board were already starting to think InArt was going to be another Molecule8 b/c of it's slight delay.

So, who do you satisfy? If InArt try to rush and we get an inferior end product b/c they were trying to push product out, then those same ppl will say, at a minimum "Why didn't InArt just take their time instead of giving us this crap rush job?" We've already had QC issues with TDK Joker.

I don't think they can afford to only reveal 1 to 2 products and hold until those are fully produced before moving on to 2 more. Like you said, just not the most viable thing for them to do. If and when InArt get enough POs under their belt, is when we won't feel like we're just collecting POs b/c we'll then be receiving at least one product while the next one in line is being produced and the cycle will continue. It's b/c HT has so much product out that it doesn't feel that way with them, even though they're doing essentially the same thing.

I think they try to aim for the 1 PO and 1 Release for each Quarter of any given year. Maybe later on they can increase it to 2 PO and 2 Release/Quarter of any year.

We got Joker in March-May Q1-Q2 their first release (I am not even sure everyone got it already), then Pennywise Q3 supposedly, then Gandalf will be Q4, then Batman is next in line I guess? Thats Q1 2024, then Aragorn Q2 2024 and so on.

You're never gonna get that from any company though. There are two separate teams handling this stuff and it's not how a companies pipeline operates.

They don't announce Harry (or any character) and then pause all artists on their team to focus on their production side of things. Once their team finishes Harry's prototype (probably weeks or months ago), those artists move onto the next project while the factory side of things continues working separately. Most might even be working on multiple figures at once. It has zero effect on their production side of things or the factory workers.

It's the same for Hot Toys. Their backlog is massive but what is the alternative? Do they just close shop and put their artist out of a job until the factory catches up on releases? Or do they just continue working on the next figure one by one? They go with the later and so does pretty much every company. It's just the nature of how things work.

It's no different then when HT announces preorder after preorder. Here because InArt is fresh in the scene people are all on them and have high expectations. I'm OK with the wait as long as all figures release have amazing quality and detail. Plus we won't know what they can do with flesh tone sculpts not covered by facepaint until Gandalf, The Batman/Bruce Wayne and Aragorn release.

That’s why I acknowledged in the original post that you quoted that it’s probably not viable.

My only thing to bring up to counter is that Hot Toys is almost an entirely different issue since they’re so big and work on so many licenses.

InArt on the other hand is still new (I know they’re owned by Queen Studios and also do statues but their sixth scale division is new) and while they have one proven release they could use more released output to gain more of a track record.

Just my opinion.
