That turned out great! It's infuriating we had to buy it separately but better to have it than not.
Yep. Thanks much chrisstbh; pics much appreciated. Looks good(y); plenty of material, drapes well, some finishing/distressing.

Thank gawd there are customizers who can step in; really don't have the time right now to mess about trying to make my own Ranger cloak. Mine are in my state but who knows how long it will take from the main shipping hub.:impatient:

For the people with the sculpted hair version, does the hair look better in person? I swear every picture/ video I see the hair looks so clumpy and overly shiny like melting chocolate.

Nice.
The hood sits totally naturally, which was my only worry so I’m glad that’s alleviated. InArt’s one appears to poke out like a cone, which I despise in cloaks.

This cloak just makes me feel like I should get that Prancing Pony dio- and a 4th rooted Aragorn…
That’s a lot of cheddar to make the most of a $30 cut of cloth.

The ranger cloak came in and he looks amazing with it on. I had to take my Aragorn out of the box and now I decided to pose him and leave him out for a short time as Strider. Fully assembled he looks amazing. These are just quick images of him with the cloak on. Topo did a great job and I might even weather it just a bit more.

Here is a link to my sculpted before I sold it and kept my 2 rooted 😅 Yeah I did find the hair overly shiny so ended up dulling it down with a few coats of matt. Was much happier with it. Also felt the facial features felt sharper but the rooted were the winners in the end. Hair wasn’t as clumpy as some of the pics make out.

I haven't seen a single photo or video of the sculpted version in this thread (including my own) that makes it look nearly as good as it does in person. After seeing a bunch of average-looking sculpted photos in this thread, I was very pleasantly surprised by how it looks in person.

Ranger cloak arrived I wet it to get rid of the creases. The hood and sides are wired Really happy with it.
Yeah just got mine, still futzing around but IMO well worth it.

The material for those who wanna know is a thin nylon/polyester, nicely finished - almost invisibly - with tiny stitches. IMO definitely needs a BIT of softening/water treatment. Maybe some more dirt if you like. Appreciate the wiring, hand finished distressing, drape and volume, the braided to-scale cloak ties, the ankle length. No material skimping. A good photographer could have fun taking this "Ranger" out into the wild:monkey3 to do some windblown shots.

IMO you could cut a hole to feed straps through without the material running. Not sure what the screen version had.

Now I feel my pricey figure is complete; or at least what I'd had in mind. Thanks to this Topo person(y) - saved me hours, days of work mucking about trying to make a to-scale accurate cloak.

He does look amazing IMO thanks to the weathering on the tunic + weathered cloak e.g. the more dirt the better = film accurate leading the hobbits. If only I were rich and could buy multiples to dirty up the belts and straps and portrait. Some will but I don't have the b@lls he cost too much. Maybe I could try some chalk dust etc.

Really glad I ordered the ranger cloak, the quality is good, although I doubt I would use it if I didn't have a second figure.
It's a nice way to display the two; one as Aragorn and one as Strider.
Looking way back in time, far as I can tell Topo's cloak is a pretty accurate dup of InArt's - Justin's review vid (an influencer who got the cloak :pfft:unlike the peasants) mentions it "feeling like a raincoat/waxy". Which I assume means nylon/polyester, like Topo's cloak. Same stitch edging on the hood.

Inart's - far as I tell - has more brown weathering. Maybe. But yeah I'm pretty happy and don't mind futzing/water treatments/extra distressing/waxing. Like Neko in this thread pointed out, and others, Aragorn has a decent number of scenes in FOTR wearing it. 35$ is well worth just the labor this would have taken me. (y)

That does look much better, thanks for sharing. How did you go about protecting the face while spraying the varnish on the hair?

I just masked it off with some paper, easy enough to put some between the sculpt and the hair. Then just used an airbrush applying a few thin coats of Vallejo matt varnish
