No matter the pictures I look at I still can’t unsee De Niro. I know it’s McKellen, I’m “seeing” McKellen, but it just screams De Niro to me.

I didn’t PO as I’m not really a LotR superfan, but I’m glad the previous Vegas pics were just a case of bad lighting.

The likeness is better now. And the softness makes it look better.
The worse part about Asmus sculpt is eye placement/color. And InArt definitely managed to make PERS without causing the eyes to look weird.

The InArt sculpt is good but isn't the "Honey, I shrunk the wizard" great.

Personally, not worth the price to upgrade.

The biggest flaw with the Asmus sculpt was with the eyes and InArt's definitely look better. The moustache looks better, too but again not worth doubling up on the same exact character.

But if you don't have a Gandalf the Grey, this one would be the one to get, if you don't mind paying more.

It's not perfect and for the price maybe we should be demanding perfection but it's probably the best mass produced 1/6 Gandalf the Grey we're getting for a while and its good enough that once its on the shelf I'm sure the imperfections won't be obvious. It seems to look a bit less like De Niro to my eye at least which is good. I'm definitely keeping my PO.

I said this a few posts ago, but I entirely agree. If I didn't have the Asmus one I would have been all over this InArt version. It's clearly better - and I am still a fan of Asmus as a company. But I just spent a lot of money on the Asmus Crown version and I really don't want to spend hundreds on an upgraded version of the same character. If InArt started with Gandalf the White I'd probably hop on it, but I just can't justify another Gandalf the Grey right now.

You could just sell your Asmus one. The price different is basically negligible here, it costs almost the same to get the Crown Gandalf to the UK as it does the InArt one.
The issue here is finding someone to buy the CS GtG for at least 350. I paid for mine eur400 shipping included. I know it took a while for you to get rid of yours.

If money wasn’t an issue, this would be a great Gandalf to get. Those new pics look amazing. But I’ll stick with my Asmus Crown Gandalf. On the shelf he looks awesome to me and fits in with my other LOTR figures nicely.
Congrats to those who are picking this up. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it👍

I’m super happy with how this has turned out. It finally puts to bed my regret of never getting the Asmus Crown. I can deal with an 1/6 scale inch difference in beard size!

Yep, better sell it now.
When the InArt Gandalf's finally released, it will be so much harder to sell the asmus crown gandalf with a decent price.

I have two problems here.

1. Finding someone to pay the $325 or whatever it was to break even with the InArt version coming out

2. I sold my house in September and am staying in my parents house until I find a new one. My Gandalf figure is in a box…somewhere in that basement. Which box is it when I have 94 sixth scale figures is anyone’s guess haha

Also a problem trying to find a place to still buy the InArt one now, which is probably why I’ll just by the Gandalf the White if it’s any good.

Clothes doesn't have weight at all. Seems cheap. That's a fact.
I disagree, at this scale it could easily look out of scale with too thick fabric. As it is, it looks like real clothes as it isn't too thick. If you look at cloth on real people, it drapes just like the figure. They could have easily made it look silly if the cloth was too thick

That sculpted hat and gray cloak do look a whole lot better than the Inart ones.
That’s why I don’t get all this debate.

There are some parts of the Asmus figure that look better than the InArt figure. That’s ok.

Everyone can get a good quality Gandalf that fits their budgets and display styles. That’s a great thing.
