I don't know if this has been said already, but it was confirmed in this month's Empire Magazine that the children at the end of the film are different to the ones in the dream, and that they are also two years older. Nolan made them wear the same clothes just to mess with our heads some more.

Good to know! :)

I don't have a link, but here is a picture of it

It was in my Empire Magazine which was just posted to me today.

They are a very well known Movie Magazine so I doubt it would be false.

Well your question is the main practical reason that the ending can not be a dream. How could he possibly have gone from Limbo to another dream? I have brought that up multiple times and all of the answers are purely speculation.

Here a couple of my posts that mostly explains why I firmly believe that the ending was real.

As to the ending being 'predictable' I have this thought:

So I was actually surprised by the ending! Again, I am fully convinced that the plan worked and that the top will fall. (It was wobbling at the end after all!)

I completely agree with you. Especially with the "twist" being that the ending wasn't actually a twist. About halfway into the movie, I was waiting for it to end with either a revelation that he has been dreaming the entire time, or that Mol had actually been correct (which may overlap with it all being a dream, I didn't think too hard about separating those two theories).

Hopefully this will end all the "it was all a dream" theories. I'm sure there will be hold outs though, just like those that want to believe Harvey Dent is alive depsite the script saying he died.

Another bit of info supporting the "not a dream" theory.

Jeffrey Kurland, the costume designer on Inception had this little revealing tidbit to share in an interview with 'clothesonfilm.com'. New York Magazine's Vulture caught this little bit of info (The same publication that ran the recent Dileep Rao interview):

Jeffrey Kurland said:
interviewer:How much does costume reflect the inner machinations of the plot, particularly in a film such as Inception? For example, Cobb's children are wearing the same clothes at the end of the story as they are in his dream 'memory' throughout the film. Is there something to be interpreted here?

Kurland: Costume design reflects greatly on the movement of the plot, most significantly through character development. Character development is at the forefront of costume design. The characters move the story along and with the director and the actor the costume designer helps to set the film's emotional tone in a visual way. In a more physical sense the costumes' style and color help to keep the story on track, keeping a check on time and place.

On to the second part of your question, the children's clothing is different in the final scene … look again …

io9's reaction: So the children are finally wearing different clothing when we see them in the "real" world. And Vulture points out that they're also played by older actors than they are in other scenes. And actor Dileep Rao also told Vulture, in another interview, that at the very end Dom Cobb's top is supposed to sound as though it's wobbling and about to fall. So is Cobb really awake after all? It sounds like it... for now, at least. We'll have to re-watch the movie another half dozen times to be sure.

I noticed that Cobb wore his wedding ring, but I didn't know that he only wore it in dreams, that being said, if he's wearing his wedding ring in the final scenes, then it's all a dream. I didn't notice either way.

I'm glad to see Jordan Gordon-Levitt do such a good job in this movie. I always liked him.

Dicaprio just might look hot by the time he reaches 45 or 50. :lol

Looks like Nolan has scored another box office success.

Inception debuted at #1 and is still #1 after 3 weekends.

Budget: $160,000,000

Domestic: $201,725,628
Foreign: $171,500,000
Worldwide: $373,225,628

It's still averaging 4 Million per day domestically at the box office.

Those are great numbers-- I love it when an original idea shows Hollywood that remakes and sequels aren't always necessary...

Am I the only one who gets the name Joseph Gordon-Levitt mixed up with Herschell Gordon Lewis?

I have,a mental block about it. :monkey4

Yes, yes you are :lol

:D
Although, I would've loved this in 3D, it kind of would have, taken the coolness away from it just being such a great story
