I'm going to talk about the movie for a moment (I realize this may boil some people's blood......) and get back to the "predicatable" ending.

If you watch any of Nolan's films you could argue that evey single one of them have predictable ending, you can do this because he always lays the answers out to his movies in plain sight. The reality is that he's never actually trying to trick anyone and that if you are paying attention you will know the ending before it happens.

The perfect example of this is the Prestige, the answers to that movie are always right in front of you, on purpose, call it a bonus for those who are actually paying attention. He's said of both The Prestige and Inception that he's not hiding anything and that the answers are right in front of you and pretty obvious. This isn't a case of bad writing it's just how he lays his movies out.

Now if you are paying attention and you think the movie sucks because you knew how it was going to end then honestly that's cool; as for me I like the ride enough that I don't care that the ending is a bit obviuos (again it was meant to be). I just enjoyed a nicely constructed movie and honestly with all the Tron's out there it was a rare treat.

Prestige, yes. I agree. It's all there. But that's not the case with Memento. So it's not something that Nolan does in every single one of his movies. There's no way anyone could guess the ending/twist in Memento. And that's because of the technique used in that film (Unreliable Narrator).

Floored me the first time :horror :thud:, still my favorite film he's done.

I guessed it and I'm no genius.:wave

A cookie that looks like Robert DeNiro?

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

I agree with SOD's post (LOL).

He does put it all in plain sight in both Inception and Prestige, it becomes apparent as you watch the films the 2nd or 3rd times. 'It's all part of the plan'.

Memento was genius. Inception was a different kind of genius. I love them both.

Meh.. I call BS.

Are you honestly gonna pretend that you guessed:

1. That Leonard's wife survived the attack

2. That Leonard was the one who actually killed his wife

3. That Leonard ALREADY killed the other guy responsible for his wife's attack over a year ago from the starting point of the movie

AND..

4. That he lies to himself and contributes to an "unsolvable mystery" to keep his sanity intact, BEFORE all that was revealed!?

Riiiiiiiiiiight... sure you did.

And yeah no spoiler tags. Memento is old as hell, if you haven't seen it by now screw you.
