Yeah its kind of funny, if Sideshow announced that the next 12 inch figure would be an EU alien Jedi that was just Kit Fisto painted black with an edition size of 5,000 people would be "eh, no thanks," or "whatever that's cool but a little too random."
But if they announced that same figure with an edition size of 1,000 suddenly 6,000 people would be taking time off work and having their wives, mothers, kids, etc., logging on on different computers to try and snag one so they "wouldn't have any holes in their collection." :chew
I like the idea of obscure or EU characters still having low ES so we can still have something to sweat and get excited about for half an hour on pre-order day. It really is an entirely unique thrill in and of itself with the joy of victory or agony of defeat but in the end it wouldn't *really* matter for most of us.
For instance if I were to collect the GG animated maquettes I'd be more inclined to pick up the ones that matched how characters looked in the movies (like Yoda, Anakin, Grievous, Leia/R2, etc.) just so I wouldn't have to explain who the girl in the random white parka and bald clown woman are among all the SW characters to everyone who visited our pad so missing out on Snow Padme and Assaj isn't a big deal.
That said I *will* be trying for SS' upcoming Arctic Padme but I wouldn't mind if it had a low ES to make it...interesting.
