In fairness, the arguments in favour of Jurassic World haven't amounted to anything more substantial.

Oh I know. Pretty much all we have is "I liked this move," "yeah well I liked *this* movie."

Independence Day was big when it was released. Will Smith became a huge film star because of that film and then went on to do Men in Black, which was also a huge hit.

I'm not surprised they chose to make a sequel. With most of the big box office earners being sequels these days, it is much easier to make a follow on rather than develop a completely original idea.

I love ID4, it's such a good movie!! The trailer for the new one is up, unofficially. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be as loyal to the practical effects as the first, that is one reason it has aged so well.

That looks like a mash up of Starship Troopers, Armageddon and Battle for Los Angeles.....

nice to see full blown sci-fi stuff, i hope the force field tech is there but fighter jets going boom, i dunno what happened there.

this could've been a macross/robotech-ish movie. i mean, it already is. :]

Me too, I love the 1st one and after seeing the trailer, I'm excited for this.

Trailer looks alright, but it's missing that big money shot of the white house bowing up. I'm not sure when this movie takes place or how many years after the original, but it seems like the earth is back to normal after the destruction from the previous film. I like how the humans are using the alien technology and it's nice to see the original cast back. Too bad Smith is not in it, because him not being there was noticeable, imo.

If the marketing of this film is anywhere near the level of the original, I don't see why not. 90's nostalgia could be in full effect, but this first trailer wasn't too impressive, not by Roland Emmerich's standards,imo. His movies always look epic in the trailers.

Love the first one. It's a fun movie, with great action and great looking effects. Can't wait.
