Hmmm, I don't know. I'm not a big fan of the Indy movies, they were fun, but nothing too special for me. And I thought the Last Crusade was pretty bad.
Besides, I think HF has been sleepwalking through his roles since the late 80's, so I really don't expect much there.
I'll probably go and see it, but I just don't think Lucas and Spielberg will be able to pul it off.
Again, I think the world and our tastes have moved on, and I don't think you can do a movie like Raiders or Temple nowadays and satisfy people. So the tone of the movie will have to be somewhat different, and that will be tough to pull off in a satisfactory way.

I think there's enough of us children of the 80's that loved these movies to make this one a blockbuster. I hope they can capture the same wit and humor that made the originals so appealing.

I still remember going outside with some cheap cowboy whip I had and pretending to be Indy.:D Good times...good times.

Just saw Disturbia today and Shia did okay. I can see him as Indy's grandson easily. With Cate Blanchett in the film and Speilberg directing, I'm very eager to see it.

Raiders, along with Star Wars (and Superman) are the seminal films for me and influenced my life's direction. I loved Last Crusade and hope they convince Connery to do it if it's integral to the story (but I'd hate a cameo just so they could say they did it).

I for one am looking forward to this movie.

Is Ford too old to play Indy? Well did anyone see Never Say Never Again? Sean Connery was 51, played that as a strength and made one of the best Bond films of the decade.

If Connery could do it then why not Ford? Harrison is supposed to be getting in sick shape to hold his own as Indy.

Shia LaBeouf is a good actor and no matter what role they put him in I have confidence that it will work out. Maybe he will be the comic relief like Short Round in Temple or Marcus Brody in Last Crusade.

I mean, he can't be any worse than Jake Lloyd.

With things being as they are all I need to know is

"If adventure has a name...
it must be Indiana Jones."

I read that Ford did his own fighting in Firewall (falling through the window and stuff)

I saw the movie. Didn't look like they put a cgi mask of Ford on a stuntman.

I doubt Ford will do a lot of action in the 4th Indy though. Maybe a few fight scenes.

I'm surprised so many here are accepting a son of Indiana Jones, he never had a son, he had a daughter.

Hmmmm....

I'm just wondering what is the name of Indiana's son (Henry Jones III ?).... Considering Indiana was their pet dog's name :p :D :lol

Hmmm, its encouraging to hear positive remarks about Shia's recent acting. Maybe I've judged him to harshly on earlier work... I still hold out hope this won't be a terrible movie:monkey3

I'm seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark tonight on the big screen. The REAL Indy and not that BS coming next year called Indiana Jones and the Phantom Menace.

wow, where are you seeing it to see it on the big screen? can I come?

Sure, if you're in Denver. :D
I got to see Raiders on the big screen back in High School. A local theatre was playing a bunch of older movies each week. Got to see Raiders, Close Encounters, and The Godfather.

I think there should be theaters across the nation that replay older movies like Indiana Jones, SW, Mad Max, Aliens etc. I would be hitting the movies every week if we had something like that.

I hear the film is being called...............

INDIANA JONES AND THE CITY OF GODS

Yeah, I read that too. From the way the story read though it sounded like that was a name that floated around a few years ago with an older draft. But with Lucas always changing the story and crap all the time, I doubt it's still attached.

I forgot I also got to see Taxi Driver on the big screen in High School. I think that was the first time I had seen it too.

Alright Dave, just how did these 3 films influence your direction in life? I think for me, the collecting goes waaaay deeper than having seen these 3 movies. If anything these 3 movies spurned, is that it made me a lifetime movie watcher! The last ones I saw that brought the young boy out of me was LOTR and the POTC movies.

As for Indy . . .I'll pay close attention to how this thing is shaping up. Personally, I'd like to be blindsided, as I was when POTC came out. This whole thing with Indy doesn't give me as much jitters as when PJ announced he was doing LOTR, only because we've seen what the current staff has done with previous Indy films.

As a matter of fact, the Continental here in Denver does that every week. They showed Goldfinger last week and next week is Wrath of Khan. I missed Aliens earlier this year but they have also showed Casablanca and Wizard of Oz and Road Warrior a few weeks ago.

When I was young I used to have a fantasy about running an old style movie theater with guilded columns and a big red curtain across the screen. Neon lights with a marquee outside. Friday nights I would show classic date movies and on Saturday at midnight classic horror flicks. Saturday afternoon adventure or schi-fi movies. Something like that anyways.

That's really cool. I wish we had a theater here that did that. Next time I'm in the area I'll have to look the Continental up and see what's showing. Is it just one showing a week or is it through out the week that they do that?
