Indy should go to hell (no offense) and I mean it.
I'd like to see a good hell since they messed that up in Doom.

Maybe he can get back some stones or gems and see a few of the old bad guys from the other indies.

If they could make it work I think it'd be neat if the CIA comes to Indy and asks him to do something or other. Wasn't he OSS in WWII? Maybe find an artifact that the communists are looking for or something...

Because I'm sure after he did all that for his country and got screwed out of the ark, and then accused of being a commie to the point he lost his job and his boss was forced to quit, he'd happily trust them again. Lucas backed himself into a corner at the expense of the most perfect trilogy ending he could have ever came up with. The end of Crusade makes the end of ROTJ look like something from a Sesame Street ending.

This is how you lure in Indy, you have it so he and Marion have divorced and Karen Allen doesn't have to show me her Eddie Murphy School of Dental Work all movie long, Mutt gets in trouble, and you have Indy have to come save him. That keeps him out of most of the movie too.

Add Sofia Hapgood to the mix, She is perfect for Indy, and you could make her younger, like 40, and have Mutt like her as well, so you play it up like the Elsa relationship with Indy and his father in LC only reversed on Indy since he's the old man now.

Thats the only way to play up a suave spy angle. Otherwise he's a married bumbling geriatric. Indy was never that suave, he "makes it up as he goes" gets in over his head, and finds some insane way out at the last second.

And enough with the US goverment, use the british, he served in the british army after all.
