Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

I like Last Crusade.

For me it's:

Raiders
Last Crusade
Temple of Doom
Crystal Skull

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

Only if you think Last Crusade, and its comic antics, is the definitive Indy.
There are those that do. But there are those who prefer the PT also.

You're completely wrong, of course. :wave

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

No. Last Crusade has Daddy issues, which I think is why so many boys like it.

But its a silly adventure and every action scene is undermined to service comedy. And much of the time to the point where even logic is cast aside -- like the flaming plane passing their car in the tunnel.

RAIDERS is the definitive Indy.

All other sequels drop to a substantially different level.

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

There's a lot of good things about KotCS.
Unfortunately they're too unimportant and small in comparison to the bad ones.

I truly can't think of one. It's an episode of Indy, and a movie, I totally would like to forget.

For me it's Raiders and then TOD

TLC is average at best.. I never cared for the Humor used in that one.. Too many goofy characters being Goofy. Sean Connery and the Tank Chase saved that film. Worst villains of the original 3 IMO. I thought Fords acting was a bit phoned in also.

TOD has it's fair share of goofiness but it works better IMO. The Chemistry between Short Round and Indy is great and Willy is just an homage to Fay Wray. Plus I think Indy's reactions too her are appropriate and work. It's not a perfect film but as a sequel to one of the greatest action films of all time it did a great job and took some chances at being a completely different type film.

KOTCS is awful as a whole... But I find the first 40 min enjoyable enough.. Nothing great but enjoyable... Then Marion shows up and it really goes down hill from there... I am not putting it all on her It's just the film really took an awful nose dive. Goofy stuff happening left and right. No sense of danger for the audience or the characters on screen... It was a big TV sit com.

I am OK with a new Indy if they can do it right... If not then I still have the first two and parts of the third. :)

See, now we're right back in total agreement. I knew it. Let's promise never to talk about the Black Hole. :duff

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

First two only- the next two are a parody of itself- very very bad drop in quality- I find TLC at times as bad as KOTCS

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

TOD is a cheesy dumb ride where Indy is you and his sidekicks are your cart neighbors that you want to just STFU and die.
I'll never understand how can anyone choose it over TLC.

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

Riddick, just call your Dad and tell him you love him. And then you'll get over Last Crusade and see it for what it is.

Because Short Round and Willy are better then Brody (Talk about someone you just want to STFU and Die) and Sallah :)

TLC basically stole the mine car chase with the Bike Chase only not nearly as good or inventive.

Boat chase... Meh...

Love Interest.. Meh.. Meh...

Musical Score has nothing on TOD (Tank chase is good though)

Indy gets all his inspiration from some dumb thug... Meh... Stupid and Meh... Oh and Stupid... :lol

Everyone loves TLC for Indy's dad.. And yes he is good in it.. But other then that and the tank chase the film offers nothing..

Yes TOD has its cheesy moments but it works.. The sets and action sequences are great and the Score is some of John Williams finest work.

Harrison is in top form also.. He obviously still cared about acting at this time.

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

Let's talk 'dumb ride' -- Riddick, when Indy is trapped hanging by his bag strap on the tank and facing certain dramatic doom, how does he get that strap unlooped so he can get free?

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

It's good to see TOD getting the love it deserves now.. It was the black sheep for a long time.

I even went through a stage where I came down on it for some of it't bad editing and cheesy moments.

But I grew out of that and it is not firmly in place in my top 10 action films. I love it.

It does not hurt that I saw this film at the perfect time.

I loved Raiders when I was a kid but it was TOD that turned me into a huge Indy fan.

He doesn't... Indy is a Ghost for the rest of the film.

I don;t come down too hard on that... TOD has some crazy editing also... Indy vs the two swordsmen is all over the place when you watch it.. That scene is cut to threads.

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

He doesn't is the correct answer. He does nothing to cleverly escape doom. In fact, when Dad turns the tank, Indy gets up as if nothing had happened -- like he was never tangled by his own strap, the entire excuse for the "trap" just evaporates. It makes zero sense. It's lazy filmmaking, hoping the audience "will not notice". Last Crusade is rife with that kind of crap.

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

I had a feeling bringing up that KOTCS car chase would make people do TLC comparisons - well I do love Last Crusade so there you go. I stand with RIDDICK...on this at least.

I agree with this whole statement but I really agree with the Bold part.
