Hush. TOD rules.
I'm not sayin' it's bad by any means tho.
But it IS the dumbest, themeless and plotless of the three.

I'm with JAWS and Wor-Gar, Raiders and TOD are where it's at. TLC starts off terribly and only picks up once Connery enters the movie. The chemistry between he and Ford is very good but it's clearly a silly "make-up" movie to counterbalance the darkness of TOD. Since I like TOD's darkness TLC becomes completely superfluous and the return of Nazis in the desert complete with a gory face scene are downright lazy.

KOTCS is just terrible IMO. I enjoyed parts of Area 51 and that was pretty much it.

But again, another idiotic logic beat -- five seconds later the blimp leaves... leaving behind that pile of baggage with that Nazi shaking his fist. Doesn't anyone aboard care that their baggage is sitting there in a pile as they float away?

I agree with this assessment as well. IMHO Raiders has one of (if not THE) best opening action/suspense sequences of any movie. Raiders will always be my fave.

Baggage could be from the previous trip. :dunno

:lol at bringing logic to 80's action movies.

The Indy series is full of stuff like that. Raiders. Indy gets sealed up in a tomb that has been buried for thousands of years, yet escapes from it in a little over a minute capped off by pushing a 500lb stone block through wall and just strolls on out. Now the woman nagging at him the whole time is 100% believable.

Yeah, I know but when you find yourself constantly justifying things in a movie, something's wrong. The fact that I even noticed these dumb things means the movie isn't working for me.

I just like the idiocy of Temple of Doom much better I guess. And it has its problems too. ToD felt like Spielberg was still engaged in the character and world of Indiana Jones. He was still trying. LC felt like a pay day for everyone. Sloppy, who-cares attitude throughout. Some funny moment between Bond and Indy, but truly that's the only thing memorable about it.

Bond meets Indy is what they should have called it -- and just ditched the reworked Raiders plot -- maybe had Indy and Bond up against Blofeld and his cat.

Shoot, too bad Christmas Jones was a Brosnan Bond girl. Otherwise they could have just said that Indy was the bastard son of her and the real Bond. Then being a badass womanizer could be seen as genetic and technically Indy was always partly the "offspring" of Spielberg wanting to direct a Bond movie anyway. ;)

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (July 19th, 2019)

I think you all know I will agree with Wor, Jaws and Khev on this. Raiders: perfect. TOD: not as good but still fun. TLC: Horrible.

Even besides all the dumb jokes and lazy filmmaking, the effects looks really cheap and terrible, considering it was ’89, was a tentpole summer movie, and had the 2 top filmmakers of the time behind it. There was no excuse. TOD has some bad effects too. Raiders, the oldest movie, has the best effects that still look great today.

Now with KOTCS, I agree it’s silly, light weight, and does not hold a candle to the first 2. But I will still pick it over TLC any day. I simply can’t stomach LC. Even when it first came out, I was heartbroken at how bad it was.
