Yup extended lol

Dammit! Oh well, 4th of July...

EDIT: while reading about this 2020 LOTR 4K version I read that there's yet another newer 4K version coming out this year (2021) with all the extras. Is that true?

Damn, Jackson is totally doing the Lucas with these movies... constantly releasing them while working on yet another version.

Speaking of racist...

I just got my 4K Indy Quadrilogy set.... RAIDERS is awesome! So crisp and clean. From the first shot, you can see the grain cleaned-up, the sky is bluer, the colors deeper and shadows darker. Really looks great!

The original bluray was brightened... but now Marion's bar doesn't look so much like a movie set because its much darker. I do see some green tint in the original bluray now that I have something to compare -- the opening shot again makes it clear -- but its gone now, though I didn't notice it throughout. The "warmth" has been cooled off too it seems but that might just have been that the old one's brightness being jacked up was making things seem 'hot'.

I can't wait to watch Temple now because of all the movies its colors really pop.
I love the 4K Raiders and your right about the green tint. I never noticed it but after this I can see it. The opening is amazing in the clarity you can see when Indy is in silhouette. You can see Ford's face more than I thought. Temple looks really good with the Red in Pankot Palace and the caverns.

Yep, I just did a cursory pop-thru on Temple of Doom and it has some amazing colors. The reds of course are always what comes to mind, but I was admiring the vivid colors at the banquet and some of the beautiful shots of India during their elephant walk.

Its funny, comparing the overly bright regular bluray, when they are in the spike chamber and Indy raises the match and says stand against the wall, in the new 4K it looks appropriately dark but in the old reg bluray, there's a clear spotlight on Short Round that is supposed to be the match light.

I actually had to get used to the darker version -- more shadowy blacks -- because I was so programmed by the old versions to accept the brightness. But now the shadows look rich and the brighter versions look like movie sets. :lol

The HDR really does a great job with shadows and color for sure. The lighting is defintely more balanced like you pointed out. The special effects with the miniatures blend together better with the live shots in alot of places too. I have watched Raider's twice and Temple once. I will watch Crusade this weekend. Overall really pleased with how they look and the sound is amazing.

Oh, you think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING! 😷

Sound is one thing I'm missing out on as I have a sound bar.

I also wish I knew if I have my components calibrated correctly -- the TV and the 4k player. I always think that maybe I'm not seeing true 4K. Maybe its a lie... :lol

I don't want to spoil Last Crusade any more than it already is, but I can tell you something that you've never noticed before and once you know you will never be able to see that shot the same way again.

Do you want to know?

Think Indy 5 will be better than TDKR?
Doubt it. I haven't watched TDKR in a while, but I can't see a Disney/Kennedy produced film made in the current environment of identity politics, social messages, and anti white males and masculinity as a whole be better or more enjoyable than a dumb Batman film with Bane as a villain.

Do you want Sure I would Love to know. As far as calibrating your tv there are some youtube videos with whatever tv model you have to help get it calibrated properly. Biggest think for calibration is turning off the smoothing effect to get rid of the soap opera feeling and getting your color levels balanced. From what you described watching the movie though your TV has to be pretty close if not there already. My TV tells me if its a 4K, or blu ray and if it is Dolby, Dolby Atmos or just HDR. I have an LG model. You picked up a sony one right?

I wore this to my son’s school dance he was so embarrassed of course I did it on purpose lol

Wait until I pick them up again with the Hulkbuster seat belted in the back lol
