Indiana Jones - Pursuit of the Ark statue

My statement was from first hand knowledge. I ordered the Rick O'Connel PF and received an email from Sideshow stating the piece was being canceled due to Sideshow losing the Universal license. I can't speak for Syclo but generally speaking companies can't legally sell products from licenses that they don't have. I would suspect that there are clauses in these licensing contracts that provide remedies to the manufacturer for cases like the Rick O'Connell PF depending on what stage the project is at.

The timing coincided with the termination of the Universal license, but everything else was speculation. They had the license which is why they solicited it. The only reason ol' Rick didnt come out was because nobody was ordering it, and there was never going to be a follow up piece, so it was canned.

BTW, how slow is it around here that were discussing this?

Did anyone else get the Indiana Jones themed email this morning? It was for Steven Spielberg's birthday! With links to Pursuit of the Ark statue, Chalice of Kali and a Fedeora.

I stand corrected. I was going from memory and obviously mixed up what was in the email with the speculation. I still stand by the rest of my comment with regard to licensing and I have no doubt that losing the license is why the piece was cancelled.

Back to this piece. Hopefully February is a firm date with no more delays.

I just have too much time on my hands!

They took money for Rick from the very few who ordered and had to refund. It wasnt like it was just a work in progress. They definitely could have released it if they had wanted to. But nobody has a clear picture since they never actually said what soured the relationship between SS and Uni, and this was the last solicited piece under the Uni license.

IMO I think that Van Helsing was such a dud, SS tried to negotiate a better deal with Uni and got told to take a walk. Since SS had pretty much milked the Uni monsters for all the most popular ones, wasnt much sense in pursuing it further.

As this applies to Disney/Indy, I dont think we have to worry about anything that has been ordered getting yanked out from under us, unless it fails to sell at even bare minimum levels.

I am all in for Feb on this, but if they miss that, then this starts to conflict with a bunch of other stuff I have on order. If they delay again I will probably ask for my deposit back. Unless that stuff gets delayed too, in which case the band plays on.

That e-mail the other day really got me jazzed for this piece.

Man this statue keeps getting delayed. I wanted to see the finished version before ordering too. I wasn't pleased with the likeness and I'm hoping the release version is better.

All this talk about cancellations has me concerned about the very late TRON Legacy stuff...

It's still on schedule for February.

I wouldn't expect any more Trona Legacy products. While Rinzler sold well it had a very small edition size and Hot Toy's light cycle wasn't the hottest seller either. If they sold better or a 3rd movie was in the works we'd see more products.

I have zero concerns about the Pursuit of the Ark reaching my collection soon!
