Looks good.

TOD > ROTLA, LC, KOTCS

Cause Indy is the only one that sells. And 4 movies, 4 Indy versions. Well they will prolly only do 3.

The only other Indy character that would look good in the PF treatment and sell is Mola Ram.

Goodness me. :horror I'd prefer to just about reverse that order (IMHO):

ROTLA > LC > TOD > KOTCS

'Raiders' is the most iconic and ground-breaking instalment, paved the way for adventure films through the eighties (for better or worse) until today.

'Last Crusade' had Sean Connery. Enough said. And it had more emotional depth and humour than its counterparts.

'Temple of Doom' was awful: racist plot, too many gross-out gags and an annoying female lead. Arguably the low point in the franchise.

'KOTS' was not as bad as the fanboys made it seem. The story was solid and characters were well-played, but it felt too nostalgic, like one more trip to the well.

I'd rather watch repeated viewings of the Phantom Menace confined to a straight jacket with my eyelids pried open than watch Skull ever again.

Now that SSC is officially taking pre-orders for this PF figure next week, I need to go figure out a space to display this when it eventually arrives. From the preview shot, I have no complaints and will definitely be getting this.

But that female lead was the MOST realistic depiction of a woman thus far in the entire series, and you can't deny it. :)

Well, she's a good depiction of the 'dumb blonde' archetype. :lecture

But I prefer Marion; she's a little more brash and boisterous.

Regardless, I'd take TOD anyday over KOTCS. Its fun, dark, and dangerous. And strangely enough, its the most grounded of the entire series.

He is holding a stone. Pretty lame rather see him holding a whip or gun. The stones should be in the bag and if it only comes with one WTF? We shall see.

He needs to be holding the whip in the right hand, and the thuggee sword in the left hand. He will need the Mike Fisher TOD Holster and GunBelt. The Sovereign Studio 1/4 scale whip is a must have for upgrading this piece as well.

But I think it will come together nicely. Since I could upgrade my RAIDERS Indy PF, the TOD Indy PF should be much easier (less things that need upgrading):

Aside from being lame, the hand holding the stone just looks awkward...like he doesn't have a convincing/realistic grasp on it. If it doesn't switch out, it might even look better not holding anything at all :dunno

Yeh, I'd say it's magnetised. I'll be leaving it off.

In other words, I am 100% convinced that Sideshow could get better, more detailed paint jobs out of their factories in China. But it would require someone there FULL TIME making sure it gets done.

Seriously, these factory workers do stuff for dozens of companies for pennies an hour. Who do you think they're going to focus their best work for: the ones who have supervisors right their over their shoulders at all times... or the 1 company an ocean away who won't even see their finished work for days, weeks, or months?? No. Brainer.

Ha ha That would be another 80k - 100k a year in expenses...They know if you're not going to buy it someone else will,so why bother...:wave

Probably they have a local doing the supervision for $0.50 an hour. If you want quality by HotToys.

I have been to factories in China, it is very competitive, FOR THE WORKERS, with the global downturn, people compete for all types of jobs. Quality out of China is not the problem, the worker will copy, EXACTLY, what is put in front of them. Perhaps a combination of a better prototype in combination with someone like myself (hey, I live in Hong Kong -- hire me Sideshow, I'll go over for you), to make sure that the initial batch is moving in the right direction. Trust me, the worker will paint exactly as they are shown/told to.

I saw the factory that does Enterbay's Bruce Lee face painting ... these people are artists and just need a good prototype to work off of.

I agree that he's too clean, but I think it looks good. I like the fact that Sideshow took aspects of ToD poses, but made the PF just slightly different. I'm hoping the hand holding the stone can be switched out to hold the whip. That would be ideal, but I'm not complaining about it. I'd display it as is. You can't see the wrist of the left hand in the photo. Perhaps the hand switches out at the point where the shirt cuff and wrist meet.

Good job Sideshow. I like it.

It really surprised me that Sideshow would put this up for pre-order so soon. I had anticipated seeing it at SDCC. I'm wondering now what Sideshow has planned to preview in the IJ line during the show.

As with any head/face sculpt of a major character that is portrayed by a major actor, there are going to be opinions about the likeness that vary from "Looks exactly like him" to "Looks nothing like him". Who knows why that is? Hell if I know:dunno but each person's opinion is based on their own perspective.

Maybe what SS can do is to make 3 different head sculpts, interchangeable, each one a bit different from the other 2. That way, the buyer can decide which one looks the most like the character to them. The price will go up a bit of course but at least there will be more happy collectors.

(Takes tongue out of cheek)

:lol

wow trevor grove has outdone even himself this time. the sculpt's ford likeness is absolutely spot on, and the only ones who will say "it looks nothing like him" are those who are just trolling. the paint app could be improved a little though. i agree with everyone who said that he needs more stubble, but other than that, it's perfect. :clap

on the other hand, i'm not so crazy about the sankara stone in his left hand. it HAS to be the whip. i guess they wanted some synergy with the raiders pf, where indy's holding the idol. but in this case, the whip would look much more natural because of the pose and the moment they're trying to capture.

in any case, i'm definitely getting this one. would make a great companion piece to my rotla pf. can't wait for the full reveal!

Switch out hand for the exclusive, maybe?

I would be pretty surprised if the ex wasn't a switch out hand. I am really liking it so far. I would rather have this statue than no statue.
