Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Wow I just noticed that every 12 inch Indy figure (regular and exclusive) is still in stock except for regular Toht. Yeah its done.

Sad thing is, I look at each figure and know exactly why they didn't sell out. The only reason Toht's regular is gone is because most who were getting the Ark jumped ship causing a landslide for the regular after the Ark was shown. The fact that Henry's still Wait Listed shows there's a market there when Sideshow gets it right. :(

Yeah, that's a bit of an exaggeration. Only Belloq is the real loser--both the regular and the Ex are still available. Then it's only regular Indy (with the huge edition size) and Ex Toht. And theNam's right about Ex Toht--people bailed because of the ark. But Ex Indy, Reg Toht, German Indy and both Henry's are on waitlist. Granted, it's still a little early to tell whether these will actually sell out or not, but I wouldn't call it a complete failure.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

You should also take into account how the figures are selling at other online retailers. That's an even more important factor than whether they're sold out at Sideshow's own site. If the retailers don't want anymore, that's the end of the line. Sideshow has proven that they won't continue a 1/6 line by selling exclusively from their own site.

Again, though, that's a testament to the issues each figure suffers from. They're all over the websites, magazines, friggin' YouTube, etc, upto and including product reviews on Sideshow's own website.

Oh, I agree with you. There's no way in hell, even with the huge edition size, that the Raiders Indy should still be available anywhere. Same with Toht.

I think they could have made Belloq flawless though and that one still would've bombed. Making him the second figure release was a momentum killer.

I'm not so sure though. Every film should have the main protagonist and antagonist released. I really do think it's the likeness, or lack thereof, that completely killed Belloq. While I would've preferred an Adventure Gear Belloq, there's fair argument (inaccuracies aside) for the representation we got as that's how he spends a majority of the film looking. Plus, when you take into account just how nice the Ex environment is, there's nothing else really to blame except Belloq's likeness. :lol ...though it's not really funny. :(

With the first two releases flawed, the fickle pickles started chicken-littling and bailed while the rest of us held on for a sup-Hasbro-par Ark and a straight-up inaccurate gouge with German Indy who's remarkably remained sold out. Now Sideshow hits their stride with Henry and shortly after announce the line's "pause" (death-sentence). :duh:duh:duh

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

There were plenty of ways they could have gone with Belloq, but they chose the most dull--the white suit. So ultimately people were less than enthused with paying $80 for a plain guy in a white suit with a vodka bottle, a pocket watch and a machine gun. Belloq's Ex environment on the other hand is almost inexplicable. $140 for the idol chamber and Belloq looks like a great deal, especially when you see how much the environments are going for nowadays, from the Temple of Anubis for $90 to Cobra Comander's Throne for $200! And the idol chamber is fantastic!

I think they should have tried more variable pricing with figures that had less accessories and were maybe not as visually interesting. I'm sure Belloq and German Indy would have sold out at $60-$70 (Sideshow prices), despite their shortcomings. Aww Hell! There were some poor choices on Sideshow's part and it's a shame they're not going to try and stick it out and learn from their mistakes.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I agree the price plays a big part in the "on pause" status of the Indy
line. As I said before Sideshow stop chasing Hot Toys with your pricing if your not going to back it up with the Hot Toys quality.

And I'll say again, that's a ridiculous comment to make. You wouldn't touch a HotToys Indy for under $150 (probably closer to $170), let alone the measly $90 Sideshow charged.

The problem is, with the 1/6 market the way it is now, I think many would rather pay the $150 for a top notch figure right out of the box. $90 for a figure that needs a body swap, repaint and other work done is a tough sell these days. Especially when that custom work can be a bit of a headache if you don't have the skill to do it yourself.

I dunno. I think he'd have sold a lot worse (meaning not nearly as many units as Sideshow's sold) at what HT would've charged. $150 was being generous. Likely with the LFL licensing, he'd probably be up around $170-$180 range for HT to do him the same way Sideshow did. Would've been a great figure no doubt, but we probably would've just gotten Indy and maybe a Henry Senior.

It does look like a couple more Indy 12 inchers are on Wait List. I quickly browsed the "In Stock" items and it looked like they were all still there except Regular Toht.

Regardless, it appears they have way too much product collecting dust in their own warehouse for KOTCS Indy to make much of an impact even if he does sell out (and stay that way).

I'm surprised that they announced the "pause" before Henry and KOTCS Indy even shipped. That's almost encouraging people who were hoping for TLC or KOTCS dioramas (with figures, not the statues) to cancel ahead of time, because if the line is already on "pause" (ie over), then what's the point?

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Even worse they have the gall to blackmail us with KOTCS Indy that the future of the line depends upon its sales because, like Hasblo did, they know it won't sell. I love Indy and want to see the line continue but there's no way in hell I would buy a KOTCS Indy even if it would insure that the line would continue.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Special thanks to OMG for posting these in the MARVEL forum...the new WOLVERINE body will be PERFECT for a TOD Indy custom...even if it is potentially a bit 'buff'. Hopefully this is what SS is talking about in terms of collaborating with HT on the TOD Indy figures (if they ever actually happen )

Anyways, enjoy...and let the TOD Indy custom bashes BEGIN!!! ;-)

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

damn that body does look good, ive done a tod indy with a rubber arm but im not 100% happy with the result. if i can pick this up then i will. any idea if hot toys would sell this seperately or is it a case of finding it on ebay?

On e-bay or at one of the on-line retailers that parts out figs (but this one won't last long). I've got a Legacy Connery on the way that I'll use the tux (with some slight modifications) for an Obi Wan Indy... Along with the TOD and TLC Indys I've already put together I'm happy enough with my collection as is... The pause of the line without a Mola in my collection is what'll hurt the most. :monkey2

It makes perfect sense. It's their attempt to bribe (or as Irish would say, "blackmail" :lol) customers into purchasing the products under the false pretense that there'll be more Indy figures if they do. Again, they did the same thing with LOTR. Despite the fact that they're all sold out, Gandalf and Bilbo for almost a year now and Sam for over six months, they continually reiterate that the line is dead. A stand they'll also take with the Indy line, regardless of whether or not the stock they have now liquidates or continues to rot in the warehouse.

I've been cancelling SSC preorders for some time now due to $ but I'm keeping the Logan.
