Why doesnt the head look like that picture? that looks loads better mean looking Indy, I cant belive how bad the head is on this when you compare it to the PF Raiders Indy. Who was the clown that did those eyes too? he needs too be sacked right now for doing that to a $2000 piece.

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

I think overall SS delivered far more nice pieces then bombs, Vader and the Snowtroopers, Catwoman, the DC 1/6 scale stuff, and especially Galactus all look amazing. I just think Indy was the obvious big dissapointment and they are still unable to capture Depp's likeness with the Sparrow PFs.

I also think the head in the production peak looks a bit meaner/better represents what expression they should have gone with but maybe it's lighting?

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

I do see Ford in this but the eyes are way too big and for a 2000 dollar statue it has to be near perfection. The ROTLA PF is way better sculpted. Sorry Sideshow but I think this is a pass for me. I am just hoping you will change that sculpt so he looks more like Ford, cause I was really looking forward to this statue. The pose is great by the way

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

I had so much hope for this piece, for months waiting in anticipation for just a glimse, then they finally show it, and its a complete monstrosity eye saw, its not even a patch on the Raiders PF Indy, and what pissers me off is that Sideshow expects us to pay $2000 for this?? I mean who was the idiot they got to sculpt the head, lloyd christmas??

Trevor Grove. Who happens to be one of the five best sculptors in the world working in this field.

His 1/6 portrait (which was ruined by SSC's sub-par molding and pancake paint) was the basis for the 1/6 Sideshow Indiana Jones. He also did the SSC PF sculpts and is known as one of the few sculptors that can capture HF.

On Trevor's blog just before SDCC, he did say: "I did work on the Indiana Jones LSF, but I don't know if the prototype is ready to be shown at San Diego. I don't really know where it's at in its development." The latter part suggests that perhaps SSC was a bit premature in showing the piece at Comic Con.

That's the surprising thing about this. Trevor does absolutely amazing work, which certainly has been hindered by paint, etc. Anyone who has seen his raw sculpts, official or otherwise, would never doubt his talent. But here, the sculpt itself does seem to have questionable aspects, not just the paint.

Interesting phrasing by Trevor, "I did work on (it)"... does this indicate he didn't do the entire sculpt? I'm not sure how artists would phrase it if they did the whole thing or not.

Thought the same thing. SSC cut loose of an incredible talent like Silentsurfer, who knows if they are phasing out Trevor too. This piece, however, would not be the one to do that on!

wow, SS doesn't work for SS anymore? The sculpt looks fine on this, except for the eyes of course.

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

One issue I have with glass eyes on this is that they are hyper realistic, but the rest of the sculpt is still "statue-y". It puts it in this weird uncanny valley for me.

I'm in the deeps on that uncanny valley now. I was looking forward to this LSF and making the huge effort of spending that amount on a single piece. I seriously hope that this just a rushed prototype to be shown at SDCC, and that they'll work this bug eyed obscenity out. The portrait made by Trev shown in that pics was fenomenal... c'mon.

The clothes are ok but they could be a bit distressed to add some realism, by the way.

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

I think everyone should calm down. SS know this was a failure. It's why they removed it from SDCC. When they get ready to release it again it will look better I am sure.

However the pose will be the same.

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

Sideshow is in no way phasing out Trevor Grove. This may not be his best Indy portrait (and who knows, he may feel the same way), but I still think it's a very solid sculpt (minus the eyes, which is not even his fault). Eager to see what it looks like after SSC takes it back to the drawing board and refines the implementation of the eyes.

Re: Indy Legendary Scale? Looks like it!

I agree--it's definitely a great sculpt minus the eyes. Trev was probably not given the time or chance to work those freaky glass eyes into his sculpt.
