One issue I have with glass eyes on this is that they are hyper realistic, but the rest of the sculpt is still "statue-y". It puts it in this weird uncanny valley for me.

I think you nailed it. This needs a more realistic paint production. That paint technique they advertised with the German paratrooper would probably suit this piece well, but the jury is still out on how that is turning out as that PF is still not released.

For the price, is it unrealistic to expect hand painting on the face?

If HT can do it in 1/6 scale, and SS really expects these to look better, that's what needs to happen. Otherwise it doesn't matter how real you make the eyes look, the lips and cheeks will just look slathered on, cold and lifeless.

I dont know what you guys are complaining about..I think SSC did a great representation of Indiana Jones as a Neanderthal...gotta like their "Artistic interpretations"

This piece does feel like something a group of people were working on together but not working on it together.
It's like when it gets to me I get the bright idea of putting glass eyes on it because I saw it on Sub-Zero.

Why doesnt the head look like that picture? that looks loads better mean looking Indy, I cant belive how bad the head is on this when you compare it to the PF Raiders Indy. Who was the clown that did those eyes too? he needs too be sacked right now for doing that to a $2000 piece.

I still dont understand why they didnt use that portrait for the head sculpt in the picture? that looks like Indy.

I got it confirmed that Sideshow pulled the piece from the SDCC booth because they will indeed be making changes to it.

It's the bad paint job and eyes that have ruined this piece.

If a much better paint job was done and the eyes were done right we would all be saying what a great Ford Likness this was.

Now we might complain about the expression. Not sure why they gave hime such a blah look. But I am sure Trev nailed the sculpt.

It was rushed out. SS knew they screwed up so they pulled it. Not a real big deal in all honesty.

Where did you get that confirmation? something you read? or did Sideshow tell you that in person at the Comic-Con?

I actually don't believe it had anything to do with the negative feedback, though. I think they just put it up, saw it next to all the other LSFs (which are all amazing) and thought, No... this is not ready to be shown yet. We need to work on this some more.

I am sure this sort of thing happens all the time. They get a product in see the issues and send it back to be touched up. We just usually don't get to see it on display.

A very good thing imo, and you are right, all the other LSF are amazing. Indy doesn't look that good next to them. I just hope the changes on him will be amazing so he looks like he is worth 2000 dollars. Afterall this is a very anticipated LSF, so it would be a shame not to make it perfect. Thanks for the info, saved my day

Sounds like a case of them being eager to show off a new piece, but it just not being ready enough.

I think what happend is they may have used full size 1:1 eyes in a 1:2 scale statue.

Of course the eyes are going to be to large, think they just need to paint them

Yes, the eyes were too big. But what stood out to me just as much was the paint app and the clothing. Essentially, it was just a PF in 1:2 scale... nowhere near the same level of detail or quality as LSF Obi-Wan, Doom, etc.
