I used the KOMPLEMENT Shelves they are 3/4 and I am interested in those shelf braces but the will look like poop I think with just being screwed on. I have the droop shelves now lol. I think the brace will stop that immediately though but they can't go in the back since it sits in those pegs you can't move it forward at all. I guess I will stop at HD on the way home and see whats up. Same light party behind mine but I actually did it all on the top of the shelves where you can't see them.

I agree Cent but I still get annoyed.

yes the braces look unfinished at first, but all it takes is a strip of black melamine tape across the front and it looks perfect:

I bought the white 30" braces but instead of in the front the actually fit on the back in front of the back piece. My shelves are maybe to bent to fix but a few are actually better, especially the ones that the braces needed a little force to pop on.

Next trip to Ikea maybe I'll get a few new shelves. It's looks worse with the less since they don't bend at all. My only issue with those leds is that the mounts are now as wide as the light or you wouldn't see the gaps to the outside. Oh well not the worst.

I have a smaller PAX or 2 behind me from this photo that have a custome led Death Star hall for Vader but when my Prime 1 Optimus and Megatron come they are going on square pedestals where they sit. I'll be taking 1 of the 2 flat screens down and will have to ditch my 3 Detolfs for Shockwave. They are filled with 1/6 lol sale soon

It's like you plan to collect Star Wars only then you don't lol I have plenty statues coming. Voltron will be here soon so he will get his own smaller PAX along with all my old Voltron and new Voltron and the art piece. No idea where Shockwave will go or Thanos but I have the room. Now I'm eyeing the Alien Dog. No the Walker is not staying he keeps the spot warm. I'll be making a diorama possibly. Let me brother weather it and all first though, I had to paint over the horrible stuff the factory does first.

Holy moly I have work to do but as you know I'm so hlad all the lighting is done and thankfully there the hole at the top the plug just fits through.

I forgot I also got the wire tubing. I'll do that soon. May have to take it all out ugh but with the IS Vader I may have to do a Vader only area.

^^^I used braces on the front and rear of each shelf. Works perfectly without any bowing. and I have a few very heavy custom and XM statues.

Ah ok. The braces wouldn't fit my fronts due to the lights so I put them on the back.

I actually considered steel rods lol or some real wood shelves

Do you think the braces on the front and the back of the shelf would support the weight of 2 1/3 pieces? I notice you placed yours on the bottom. I setup my Pax and while it easily fits 2 prime 1 statues on a single shelf, I've limited myself to only 1 1/3 piece per shelf because they are my top shelves and worried applying more weight would cause it to collapse.

Ideally I would love to put all my 1/3's on the top shelves and all my 1/4 scales below it.

It would depend on the weight of the 2 1/3 statues. But if you use 6 metal support pins and 2 metal braces on each shelf as described in the DIY I posted earlier, then at worst the shelves may start to sag but they won't snap and collapse spontaneously. IMO I think you can safely give it a try, and if you see the shelves sag over time then I would shift the 1/3 piece to the bottom and replace the sagging shelves with new ones.

Edit: I've had my custom 1/4 Superman on the top shelf and that has to be 40lbs by itself along with darkseid at another ~20lbs without any sagging for 6 months. So that's your proxy :)

sorry for taking this thread off topic... it's become a display building thread LOL!

last derail: You have to use the metal support pins as well as the metal braces. The plastic support pins from Ikea are crap

The above links to the best made reasonably priced shelves I am aware of. They are really heavy but they will hold any amount of weight you put on them. I think each shelf is rated for up to 2,000 pounds. They are very simple to assemble and require no tools. All the shelves are height adjustable. Lots of room for large statues.

The look is too industrial out of the box but I added nice stained wood trim to the face of the corner posts and added stained thin wood inlays on top of the metal lattice shelves. Staining the trim and shelves was a bit of work but it really improves the look of these. Great shelves for large man cave type rooms.

My apologies too guys, but hey if it matters all this shifting around is to fit Iron Vader himself

Thanks for reply AA909 I'm familiar with the link and the pins your referring to. I'll have some thinking to do but at 60lbs thats a damn good proxy and already over the 45lbs limit recommended by Ikea. I don't have Miller Bats in yet no doubt that beast will pack some weight so I'll see how it plays out

Ok I agree the plastic pins suck. I did however start putting wire covers.

I'm guessing the IS Vader is hefty as well.

So this is what's left to talk about in here, shelving. Anyone else just a wee bit concerned that we aren't talking about new pictures of this thing? Release dates? Etc. etc?

Kind of concerned myself but whatever I guess just keep waiting.

We won't get photos until it starts shipping. It's delayed like everything else that's on the same boat. Not a concern at all.
