So is it pointless for someone to order brand new now? Will we receive a piece that has already been returned due to defects?

Most likely and the rest of the product line is defective as well. Although they are saying its because every statue is hand made blah blah blah.

So yeah as of now There are no remaining Mark VII statues with out a defective base.

How can they get away with advertising these for full price if they know all of the remaining statues are defective? Crazy!!! :slap

I'm not sure yet i want to see pictures of it before they ship it to me. I'm waiting to see if this guy is allowed to take a picture and send it to me. such a crap shoot. Give it a few months and this statue will be one sale, extra rewards, and free shipping just like the star ways half scale.

Definitely. With so many SS issues, they are just ponging doors for other companies to enter the market.

SS are entitled to use what ever material, paint, etc. Obviously the paint on this n proto is way differ. MOS is from plastic, proto was poly stone. What's new

Was about to say the LSB had major issues but 3,000 sold and on WL...
Checked the site and surprise surprise! Back in stock :rotfl

When SS get it right they're awesome... When they get it right.

AS mush as i dislike you i actually agree with you. When the statue is 100% correct it is a piece of art worthy of showing off. But when its wrong it turns into an over priced paper weight.\

When i get home i will copy and past the email they sent to me.

Just for reference...this is proof at least one person working at SS isn't colour blind.

I think it has been pretty much established that the final "colour" on the Mark VII is just fine, as far
as certain screen shots from the movie have proven. All in the eyes of the beholder, but still.

Mine arrives next week and was opened up, assembled and pictures were taken and sent to me before
he was shipped. I got him for about $50.00 less than the website price with free shipping, so I was happy about that.

From what I saw in the pics, he looked good. As long as he looks that good in person, I will be happy.

With anything that is hand painted and not machined, every LSF will be different, no doubt.
But for the overall size and lights and such you will probably never get a better Iron Man in 1:2 scale.
The Mark III LSF, while good in it's own right did not have the "pop" that this one does.
It lacked in not having the hand and foot lights, was too skinny in the torso area, and the pose was really stiff.

Surprised no one is in here trying to defend this $2,000 failure :D

I don't think that this is a $2,000 failure. Could he be cheaper?... sure he could.
However, I think the bar is set way too high by some people, who expected to receive an actual movie suit
shrunk down to half-scale. I do agree that the arc reactor was not handled properly, but when it is lit-up,
it looks perfect. In direct comparison, that picture of the $4,000 full size Mark VI looked like crap.

I will be taking pics and everything when he arrives, but I am still excited to have one. :)

I expected a statue that looked like the proto. The color's of the second statue i got was really good. The first one i got was complete crap. I expect to spend 2000 and get a statue worthy of 2000 price tag.

I understand that part of it, but completely trashing the statue like Atheris did is un-warranted.

The color is going to vary statue to statue as well. Hence the hand-painted aspect. Depends of how each individual layered
the red and gold when they sprayed them. Just another part of the process.

I look at the collector's 6" figure market as a prime example. People are now paying $30-$40 a figure for a plastic figure
at that size. To me, those should still be half that price at most. Production costs continue to rise... retail costs continue to rise... and $2K is not what it used to be, in terms of what you get for that money. It just is all part of the collector market in general.

Will I re-paint it when I get it? Probably the base and the silver parts of the helmet, but again...
that is based off personal preference more than anything.

Again, it depends on what each person considers "worthy" of $2,000. It was never going to look exactly like the prototype. Statues rarely do. Problem is, when they are this big... small flaws are much bigger issues.

I'm not talking about small flaws. that i can accept. But a warped base so much that the statue doesn't even stand up right, Broken pieces, completely miss painted areas, Smiling Iron man heads, broken LEDS, These are not Small flaws.

I'm really worried about ordering this now. Surely there isn't just a pile of rejects sat in SS's warehouse waiting to ship?

Those are all very true. I guess I have come to expect such things from Sideshow.
I returned the Mark VII LSB because it looked horrible, and I am pretty picky.

I don't know what the deal is with the warped bases. Mine does not look to have that issue, but it very well might.
Broken LED's are un-acceptable too. The mis-painted areas are again, part of the hand painting... never going to be perfect.
And what exactly are the "smiling" Iron Man heads? I missed that one...

I guess that is a possibility. That was the main reason I went with an authorized Sideshow Dealer who got their LSF's from the first batch. Asked them to open everything, assemble him, check for flaws, etc. before I sent them my money.

I wanted to make sure that I had a decent idea of what I was getting when it showed up at my door.

I had 1 from the first batch and that one was the worst. 1 from the second batch and soon one from the 3rd batch. I do not have high hopes of getting a good statue. Hants i would not buy this statue.

Unless you could find a dealer willing to do the same type of inspection like I did,
I would not buy one direct from Sideshow at this point. As much as I like the piece, I would not have
ordered one without being able to have a seller do this for me.

I guess I cannot say for sure that mine is a first or second batch piece, but it was received by them before
returns started happening, so I am thankful for that.

I would not put it past them to recycle parts from returns to make "new" statues. Sad, but probably true.

I don't see Sideshow making more of these at this point. They will probably end up filtering through
what they have left and keep it listed on the website like the Mark III LSF.

This statue is the biggest blunder by Sideshow that I can remember....and that's saying something!

Congrats Bigboy, where you gonna place him? I like how you have Bat n Sup next to the tv :hi5: Are those the boxes? No need buy display pedestal then.

Thank You ! Yes those are sideshow boxes , song Rebirthing from Skillet :D
