Is entitlement to blame for PT hate?

LOL, ask for opinions and one thing is certain... you will GET them in ABUNDANCE.

Honestly, I love all the Star Wars movies. I have my favorites, and I have issues with some of them, but Jar Jar isn't any more annoying than Threepio (who I loved as a kid, but now I think my fave would have to be Han Solo). I don't expect Shakespeare when I see a Star Wars movie. It's not a religion to me, it's not a way of life (well, when I was a kid it took up most of my time lol). It's a movie series, it's fun to me, and for those who don't like certain ones, big deal - then you don't watch the ones you dislike again. If the Star Wars prequel trilogy is your biggest beef with life, then I'd say "You got it pretty good then - count yourself blessed."

For those who go on tirades, get a life already. If it was over a moral issue, like movie violence or sneaking something nasty into a kid's movie, then okay, but it's Star Wars.

OT kids didn't grow up with the PT.

My nieces and nephews love the hell out of PT and the related toons. When viewing my toys, General Grievous got way more ooohs and aahs than Vader.

OT and PT are all the same to me. New trilogy prolly will to.

You sound cute.... Wanna cyber?

I would say good taste and an aversion to crappy movies is the main reason for PT hate.
Well said.

For **** sake man. Go reread your own postings in the Walking Dead thread and other people's responses to you and then come back and complain about people who don't like the Prequels. It's no ****ing different. Give it a rest with this ***t.
Damn, even the most kind, rational and understanding member on this site is fed up with your PT fanboy whining. That's not a good sign.

I can agree with this somewhat. I do think things should have been done different in TWD.... but that is a different beast. I am not necessarily complaining for 10 years though about the episode. I post what I wanted to happen, it doesn't, explain why it would have been better. Still give credit to the episode being good and then move on to the next one. I actually explain my reasoning.... where as everyone else doesn't. There is a difference. Re-read through that thread..... take the Eastman episode for example. I said he shouldn't have died that way, explained my reasoning which I had a decent argument, credited the episode as being good and moved on to the boring pointless episode. Which, I said it was a fine episode, I never said what should have happened, it was just boring. I wished they showed Rick escaping the RV... I made one post about it... and now am moved on to the next one.

I think there is a huge difference in a one night post explaining what I wanted... giving credit to the episode... explaining my reasoning and moving on.... compared to the typical PT hate of "its garbage, bad, etc..." repetitiveness in every single thread for ten years.

The funny thing is, even though I think they should have done things different... I still judge it on the content presented. TWD is a great show. The acting is great. Storytelling is fine. But debating on what they should have done.... is it really considered entitlement? On a show that prides itself on the decisions people make? I don't think so.

Few people bother explaining their reasoning for hating the prequels anymore. I guarantee they've already done so who knows how many times before and were probably told to STFU by PT lovers on those occasions aswell.

The reason people still so offhandedly dismiss the PT and continue to say they are ***t is because movies - particularly movies as much to the fore of public consciousness as Star Wars - are just naturally going to be talked about a lot. And with more movies being made it obviously keeps Star Wars right where it's been for the past 40 years (with short intermissions). A single TV show episode comes, goes, is forgotten about and then the show ends.

Lastly, you criticise Walking Dead episodes as they come. You have unmet expectations as each episode comes. People had the exact same experience watching the prequels in the cinema. Same thing. Now, a total newb may indeed watch the entire saga straight through and be totally unaware or uncaring about any difference in quality between each trilogy - I won't deny that. Perhaps you would wholly enjoy The Walking Dead if you weren't waiting week to week for new episodes. If you had never seen it before and just watched it straight through - then slow, kinda crappy episodes such as the one just gone - you'd barely even notice. That's what may happen with newbs watching all the Star Wars films. It didn't happen like that for the people you're complaining about though, just like it's not happening like that for you and The Walking Dead.

Well 1st of all O.T was made 1st and then Lucas had to go back and figure out his own puzzle to the story. IS it Perfect NO but does it work kinda yes are there many flaws yes. I think if the pretrilogys were a little less rushed could have been better. I LOVE my spin off's of Animated Clonewars , rebels and the bad guy's from it. You can say same thing for THE FORCE AWAKEN'S yes we want it to be AMAZING ,only time will tell. I dont understand if want this to be a hate or love thread of pretilogys and the future upcoming star wars movie's. Like them more or not the New Hope was incredible exploding new star into our galaxy and our world never the same after it. Lucas has walked away from the hate n responsibilty of it and we can only prey the new get done with great TLC. I think there is A MAGIC when 1st discover or watch something u Love when young and helps scar u in good ways. I grew up with O.T and the toys and ROTJ was 1st saw in theater and my brother n friends lead me to this universe long long ago......LOVE or HATE them they are here to stay. We all can some what agree Darth Maul and Emperor did decent job in carrying on the Sith and Ewan Mcgregor and Liam honered the jedi story's very well. Yes i favor O.T over p.t and always will and same thing go's with upcoming movie's. I think its just matter of what u saw 1st . I do think O.T is more of solid story wise as P.T has many gaps that had to be filled in to sync up to the original's.:lsvader:r2d2line

Many GREAT POINT'S A-DEV when u are forced to wait with ANTICIPATION it builds up GREAT SUPENSE instead of BINGE watching a series of BREAKING BAD or Walking Dead u can sit n ponder WHAT'S NEXT for LUKE , HAN , CHEWY will they follow the storys n book's in the next film ? I can say i pretty much only ACKNOWLEDGE T1 & T2 in my mind and many may do same with the PRETRILOGYS idk its all a matter of opion and wether like or hate them. Again the wait makes u LOVE N APPRECIATE a bit more instead just handed all the info to digest in 1 sitting.

I like all the Star Wars movies. Why? Because I like entertainment. I was born in 71, so I'm an Original Trilogy guy. Because of the story reveals in 1-3, to properly enjoy the entire series, it still needs to be 4-6 then 1-3. Why? The Empire Strikes Back, that's why. Who saw that reveal coming? If you watch the prequels first, it's ruined. I liked the prequels. Yes, they had flaws. Hayden Christensen, Jar-Jar Binks, and Midichlorians. Lose those and they're good. It's like the bootleg cut of Highlander II: The Quickening. Remove all the stuff about the planet Zeist and it's a goo....no wait, bad example. :) The build up to the creation of Darth Vader was a decent story. What did everyone expect Anakin to be like? An evil child who went around killing? He was a typical kid who had a special ability that he couldn't use properly because of his ego. It was only after he lost everything, (arms, legs, wife, unborn children, the ability to go out in public without a special suit keeping him alive) that he gave himself fully to the dark side and became the calm, collected Sith Lord. After his last release of emotion at finding out Padme was dead, of course. So that was how Darth Vader came to be what he was, and why he cared about nothing. As a story, all six movies work together on the whole, but some aspects of 1-3 could have been left out.

Entitlement? That has nothing to do with it for me. My first Star Wars i saw was Episode 1 in theaters with my dad at age 12. I had no preconceived notions of what to expect. I kind of liked it as a kid, but wasn't thrilled. Later on that year my dad showed me 4-6 and i LOVED them. Every time i watch Episode 1 i think how mediocre it is. I have no idea what i wanted out of the movie necessarily, but i know i didn't get it.

The PT's shortcomings definitely are diminished when you binge watch them with the OT. Camping out with AOTC and then breaking off into small groups to discuss what worked and what didn't for three whole years...yeah not ideal.

40/Male/Soon to be OK, Stud. ;)

The PT sucks. The acting is poor, the story is disjointed, the character development is non existent and overall it's not very entertaining. ATOC is the single worst film I have ever seen in a theatre. If people like them that's great. People also like Twilight, but that doesn't make me entitled because I don't, it just means they enjoy crappy films.

Exactly- the PT are just plain bad films- TPM being the best (cough cough) of the three. Still bad. AOTC is just jibberish - baloated with no real plot that advances the story arc(well if you call it that) set up in TPM. Acting and dialogue not worthy of a high school(amateur) play.

Someone here once said if these weren't SW films and just some other sci-fi films they would be getting the award for the worst garbage in sci-fi history. Being SW films they get a pass from some folks.

It's too bad that scene is in the movie. The first edit of the film had Palpatine telling Grievous that he was about to get a new apprentice and then it cut to the dream of Padme dying but George thought that he strung too many "dark" scenes in a row and had Christensen and Portman come back a year later (which is why she looks so different) to film that cringeworthy balcony scene.

Ween, no one cares about LOTR anymore.

Those horrible Hobbit flicks killed it.

LOTR entitlement thread soon? :lol

I was just thinking..... majority watched Star Wars 4-6, then 1-3.

Before going into Episode 1, I guarantee it every single person had an idea of what they wanted or what they thought should happen.
When they didn't get it, they were mad. They were entitled to have there views expressed on film and when they didn't get it, they started to bash and bash and bash.

The hate then built as they judge TPM on what THEY wanted to happen and not what the actual film was. Entitlement at its finest. Terrible way to "review" a movie.

Then, going into AOTC.... the same mindset. They had an idea of what they thought should happen... they don't get it.... entitled in the way that there views should be the way to go..... they bash and bash and bash.

Then ROTS.... rinse and repeat.

It's because they SUCK! Hell, they get more of a pass from me because they are Star Wars films... If they were not I would never talk about them again... However they are and because of that, I will still watch them from time to time and I will point out that they are Bad film making. It's not hard to figure out.

I just wanted good films. I wanted at least OT quality... Instead I got really bad acting, stupid plots, poor characters, no memorable villains and Lucas defecating on the OT with poor ideas and worse execution.

Lucas even seemed to delight in screwing with things... It's like he thought - Hey the fans hate vader's "Nooooo!" Well I will put it in the Blu ray of ROTJJ also.

I could right a list of why these films fail but Red Letter Media pretty much nailed everything on the head and did it in a much more entertaining way than I could.

I didn't even hate the films upon first viewing... They hold up like **** with repeat viewings... All the bad acting, lack of chemistry, and poor ideas are even more apparent the more you watch them.
