People also like Twilight, but that doesn't make me entitled because I don't, it just means they enjoy crappy films.

I can agree with this somewhat. I do think things should have been done different in TWD.... but that is a different beast. I am not necessarily complaining for 10 years though about the episode. I post what I wanted to happen, it doesn't, explain why it would have been better. Still give credit to the episode being good and then move on to the next one. I actually explain my reasoning.... where as everyone else doesn't. There is a difference. Re-read through that thread..... take the Eastman episode for example. I said he shouldn't have died that way, explained my reasoning which I had a decent argument, credited the episode as being good and moved on to the boring pointless episode. Which, I said it was a fine episode, I never said what should have happened, it was just boring. I wished they showed Rick escaping the RV... I made one post about it... and now am moved on to the next one.

I think there is a huge difference in a one night post explaining what I wanted... giving credit to the episode... explaining my reasoning and moving on.... compared to the typical PT hate of "its garbage, bad, etc..." repetitiveness in every single thread for ten years.


The funny thing is, even though I think they should have done things different... I still judge it on the content presented. TWD is a great show. The acting is great. Storytelling is fine. But debating on what they should have done.... is it really considered entitlement? On a show that prides itself on the decisions people make? I don't think so.

In the Force Awakens thread I think plenty of people explained why they did not like the PT... I know I put several reasons and what could have helped them (one consistent villain for example instead of introducing a new one in each film) but I think you just don't like the explanations.... Or you don't read them.

There are threads, articles, videos, and even documentaries on why people don't like these films... What do you want???

I think I know what you want... But you are not going to get it because the PT are not well made films.

Few people bother explaining their reasoning for hating the prequels anymore. I guarantee they've already done so who knows how many times before and were probably told to STFU by PT lovers on those occasions aswell.

The reason people still so offhandedly dismiss the PT and continue to say they are ***t is because movies - particularly movies as much to the fore of public consciousness as Star Wars - are just naturally going to be talked about a lot. And with more movies being made it obviously keeps Star Wars right where it's been for the past 40 years (with short intermissions). A single TV show episode comes, goes, is forgotten about and then the show ends.

Lastly, you criticise Walking Dead episodes as they come. You have unmet expectations as each episode comes. People had the exact same experience watching the prequels in the cinema. Same thing. Now, a total newb may indeed watch the entire saga straight through and be totally unaware or uncaring about any difference in quality between each trilogy - I won't deny that. Perhaps you would wholly enjoy The Walking Dead if you weren't waiting week to week for new episodes. If you had never seen it before and just watched it straight through - then slow, kinda crappy episodes such as the one just gone - you'd barely even notice. That's what may happen with newbs watching all the Star Wars films. It didn't happen like that for the people you're complaining about though, just like it's not happening like that for you and The Walking Dead.

I binge watch TWD... I don't watch or read anything... I then buy on Blu.... Boring episodes are no big deal because I can go on to the next... I don't have to wait week to week.. because of the I enjoy every singe episode... I see it as one big story and not a weekly story..

I love TWD and have yet to have a problem with any of the shows...

I was thinking the same thing.

I guess any bad film I watch is just because I have a sense of entitlement and not that the film itself is bad.

Moral of the story is that there are no bad movies.... Just bad people.

OT kids didn't grow up with the PT.

My nieces and nephews love the hell out of PT and the related toons. When viewing my toys, General Grievous got way more ooohs and aahs than Vader.

OT and PT are all the same to me. New trilogy prolly will to.

I would say good taste and an aversion to crappy movies is the main reason for PT hate.

I'm not going to read through all the comments. But this hits the nail on the head. If the movies were made the other way around as is, people probably wouldn't have hated TPM the way they do. But they wouldn't have loved it and made Uncle George the billionaire be became.

I was just thinking..... majority watched Star Wars 4-6, then 1-3.

Before going into Episode 1, I guarantee it every single person had an idea of what they wanted or what they thought should happen.
When they didn't get it, they were mad. They were entitled to have there views expressed on film and when they didn't get it, they started to bash and bash and bash.

The hate then built as they judge TPM on what THEY wanted to happen and not what the actual film was. Entitlement at its finest. Terrible way to "review" a movie.

Then, going into AOTC.... the same mindset. They had an idea of what they thought should happen... they don't get it.... entitled in the way that there views should be the way to go..... they bash and bash and bash.

Then ROTS.... rinse and repeat.

Everyone has already made up their minds. You either hate them or like them. As a fellow PT fan, I think the topic should be left alone because no one is changing anyone else's opinions. I get why a lot of people hate them. Even I as a fan will make fun of the flaws. But everytime this discussion comes up, it just brings out all the haters accusing those who do like them of having no taste, etc.

PT wasn't as good as OT but gets too much hate IMO. Only bad one was AOTC IMO.

You could say that about anything today. Look how much people go off about Captain America's costume in every film. It's GOT to be what they want or it sucks.......that's how it is for almost everything now. Give ME what I want or it's trash.

Better example would be FF. People were against that long before there were pics or a trailer because it wasn't MCU and therefore wasn't what they wanted and therefore was to be reviled not because of what it was but because what it wasn't.

So basically it just comes down to this, those that love the PT just don't understand why others don't, so decide that it must be because those that dislike it, dislike it simply because it wasn't a reenactment of the film each fan fantasizes in his or her own head. They just can't comprehend why many see the PT as a dim shadow of the OT, at best. So, instead of merely accepting that the movies may be severely flawed, and by that measure, their taste may not be infallible, they must try and try to convince others that it is the people who find fault in the PT who are misguided. Tiring.


Taste is such a subjective thing. There are "bad" movies that I enjoy, even though I know they aren't good, I can still derive pleasure in it. So just because you like something, like the PT, that "may" be almost universally panned, accept it for what it is and have fun. You don't need to convince everybody else that your right in order to validate your taste.

True people made up their minds about FF ahead of time, but their claims ended up being true. The movie had so many issue and turned out to be garbage which Josh Trank has pretty much disavowed. People are ok with non MCU movies if they are good like Days Of Future Past, but FF had garbage written all over it for a long time.

No, I have yet to see one good reason why people here hate these movies in that particular thread. It is no point because it is clear no one either wants to communicate there opinions or are just ineffective at it.

Edit - to be totally fair and honest, your appreciation is not the only reason you might get treated the way you do. Many of your opinions come off to many people as hypocritical, and your misrepresentation of opinion as fact tends to rub people the wrong way.
