Is it the Dark Side that makes SW fans so evil?

I don't know that I would call them evil. They are definitely more passionate over their stuff than most others though.

I think there's a fine line between passionate and whiny

Passion is a good thing--- tempered with a tiny bit of logic.
I think some of the collectors who have been around since the very early years (ie they saw the original in the theatre in '77) have seen all of the different merchandise and have also seen how the merchandise has evolved (or in some cases de-evolved). While they seek to collect for purely nostalgic reasons or because it touches on an inner joy that takes them back to the carefree days of long ago when the words "mortgage", "cancer", and even "death" weren't in their everyday vernacular, whatever the reason they've seen how some have attempted to milk the cash cow or stress the goose laying the golden egg a little bit too far. Nothing so far as "Lucas has raped my childhood"--- but I think some "vintage" SW fans/collectors are tired of the attempt to take advantage of their passion and by this time they feel they've earned the right to speak their opinion. I'm new to these boards and I've seen some wonderful exchanges--- I've also seen some people who should perhaps relax and stay away from the personal attacks when someone expresses an opinion they're entitled to.

Whew--- that was longwinded. Brevity is the soul of wit--- Ouch (personal burn... I'm such a SW fan self-hater... )

There are more Star Wars fans than any other licenses that Sideshow has right now (I would guess) so with more people come more opinions which generates debate. Plus some people came from the Rebelscum forums and have experience in that sort of debate. Really these forums are much nicer and better than other forums I go to.

I would argue that the premise is faulty. Maybe I'm not on here enough but I don't really see THAT much negativity towards the SW stuff from SSC or other companies.

However I'm just waiting for GG to screw up the Harry Potter line so I can pounce!:emperor
