I have sold quite a lot of my collection as of late - I have noticed in the past 7 years that my collection has changed quite a it. There are licenses that I am just not interested anymore. I still have quite a big collection, but I imagine that will get cut down soon.

Part of it for me is space though - once we move into a bigger house, i'll actually be able to display some pieces that have been in boxes for some time now. I think I looked at my Hot Toys Batpod for about 5 minutes before I had to pack him back up. I'm sure when they are displayed in the new house, my interest in this hobby will get rejuvenated.

Do what you gotta do. I think most of us as time goes on, our interests change. I recently sold off my p.f.'s , I don't miss them a bit. I just have a few Hot Toys 12" Batman and Joker figures. I'm more into framed art and framed movie posters now...

But, I still consider myself a "collector". Just not as "crazy" as I used to be. Much more selective....and you enjoy it more when you buy one piece every couple months or so, rather then 2 or 3 pieces coming a week....

Wise old Bodie know how to stay in the game.. Ask Dave, I'm a rodent who never leaves..

I've seen many a collector caught up spiraling out of control while making decisions based on impulse..

The solution for longevity is simple, buy what you can afford, what fits into your collection and what you have space for..

Being a completist is for those who lack control. A sure recipe to fizzle out.

Words of Wisdom to live by when collecting. I only buy a PF here and there, I never buy becaue of word of mouth but only when something really appeals to me and I still weigh my options before I pull the trigger, I might buy a PF once, no more then twice a year, and I am happy and content as can be with my collection.

This is my last for sale thread, I swear :monkey3

I see many with similar situations so I guess its not just me in the end. I never said I plan on ^^^^ing off, well not just yet. Guys like Shai, Bodie and I all have purposes here and thats balancing out the good. Well at least thats how I see it.

Btw congrats on your new jeans Shai :D I could never justify spending so much on something that was made in the same factory that produces $10 jeans. Trust me I know all about it, my wife has a sweet collection of Coach purses. :D

So for now my collection is complete, and at a satisfactory level. I will be taking a year off and focus on more important things. I'm gonna pursue my life long dream of joining a local fight club.

:peace

Last week I wanted to order back the Abomination PF....Then I bought a $450 True Religion pair of jeans...Wise choice by the Worm..:monkey1

Bend down here so I can give you a good smack! There's no way in hell I'd spend that much money on ONE clothing item.

When I first got into this hobby, it was like I was on crack. I went nuts......originally I was just going to get LOTR stuff...and then seeing other members posting pics of their collections I decided I had to have all these Marvel PFs and statues...then I got into Hellboy...then The Dead...then I realized I was out of room and my collection was feeling cluttered and no longer attractive to me.

So I decide to weed out my collection - got rid of all the Marvel (except the Old Western Ghost Rider because I just f'n love that piece and it reminds me of Sam Elliot who I also love and the Doom PF Exc...because it is pretty bad ass), stopped buying LOTR pieces (I really like where my collection is right now...I don't feel I need anything else to "complete" it), buy a few Hellboy pieces here and there...but I'm pretty selective.

It does wonders when you realize that sometimes Less is More and then just narrowing your focus down to things that bring you joy. I've realized I don't have to have the biggest collection or all the pieces from one line...if the item does not bring a smile to my face, then I don't need it. I decided I do not need the Bezerker in my collection so he's gone....he's cool and all but I'm perfectly content with Lurtz. And sometimes I do think about getting rid of the Doom....time will tell. I refuse to box items up and store them...so if something comes along that I like better and I need the space, then he'll have to go.

From your selling it looks like you are just keeping the best of the best. Thats the way I do it. I don't have alot of stuff anymore.I find myself selling some to get others, rather than collecting a heap of stuff.

My own opinion is that you have to work your priorities. I feel that the people who have moved beyond the love of collecting are the lucky ones. I am in a position where I still very much love collecting, have all the money that I need to do it, but have found it necessary to stop for other reasons.

I just cancelled two of my SDCC non-attendees items. My credit card just can't take anymore. I'm only getting ONE, that's it.

Sounds like you and I are in the same state currently Terminator. I've been losing the passion for some time now and just really want to keep a few things I love for my theater and call it quits.
