Sad.... It's just a pic of Denise Milani and behind her there's some guy who looks like he just finished in his jeans... Then the standard motivational frame "Epic Tits... will turn you retarded"

The girl in this picture...

...is the girl on the left in this one.

You are again confusing God with religion. Most religions teach doctrines that aren't even found in their holy books. And many of those doctrines are designed to control people. God is not the source of that nonsense.

You are again confusing God with something that exists. Religion is man-made. God neither gets credit, nor blame. :wink1:

Hmmm, I'm not convinced...

Yes, I see your point. From the viewpoint of an atheist God and religion are the same.

But my only contention is that the belief of whether God exists should not be based on the behavior of the majority of religious people.

I don't base it on the actions of people. It is a conclusion I arrived at independently of humanity.

My judgement of religion is that it contradicts what I understand as natural law as it pertains to human life and prosperity. Particularly in the sense that life is considered a means to an end (as opposed to an end in itself) and in the sense that prosperity is often either condemned outright, or given zero moral credit.

Carl Sagan said God exists in the natural laws of the universe. Not something you wanna pay obeisance to though. :lol

Did you come to all of that before or after reading Rand I wonder...

Whenever Carl Sagan was on Johnny Carson I always made sure to watch it. I felt so bad when he passed away from the dreaded BIG C. :(

I'm betting he forgot to mention which laws. :lol

He was still a good kid.

:thud:

I went through Catholicism, then through Wicca, then through the full history of polytheism, from Egypt to India, and then to atheism.

Then, I read Rand. Atheism isn't an easy conclusion to come to, but you don't need her to get there. What's more likely is that you'd need her to come to the conclusion that the logical political consequence of a universe without a God is capitalism (and not socialism, which is what you will hear from 99% of atheists).

And yes, it took reading Rand to understand that capitalism is the only moral social system. Before Rand, I was an individualist, but the only political answer I could come up with on my own was anarchism. I blame most of that on my education (the true history of American capitalism is grossly obscured, distorted, and one of the most extensive lies ever perpetrated), but that's life, I guess. I don't get to take credit for the biggest revolution in philosophic thought in 2300 years. :)

that's a complex deconversion story you got there. leaving one's faith and belief(the one you grew up with) isnt an easy task. :monkey3

No doubt. I had no sense of persecution or anything in my Catholic upbringing. There was no negative stimulus (other than 4 hours of CCD, one Sunday a month), so there was no emotional motive involved. I wasn't looking for revenge against my parents or God. I was just looking for what was true.

Also, breasts. :lecture

An ex boyfriend of mine is big into Rand and he is a Catholic. He always wanted me to read Atlas Shrugged, but I'd be bored.
