Some strange behavior right now - even though a live.com search turns up a
cashback link to ebay, when I click on that link and get an ebay search page,
the cashback logo is not displayed.

Yep, it does that from time to time. Sometimes it's minutes sometimes it's hours before it works right. That's what you have to put up with if you want free money I guess.

Jeez, what is up with the ebay link? Sometimes it shows the Live.com banner, most of the time it doesn't. Is this a sporadic offering that bounces around at random? I've got Christmas shopping to do and 25% off sounds really good.

probably a dumb question............but.........can you use a "@hotmail.com" account to take advantage of the LIVE discount?

Or does it have to be a "@live.com" account?

Your email doesn't have anything to do with it. You can use any email to set up your account. In fact if you have a hotmail account you probably already have a Microsoft passport account, which if I recall correctly is basically all you need.

So I have a question for you guys: I just bought a piece last night and got a cashback savings of $62 and some change. But here's the catch. I received the cashback in my Paypal account TODAY?!?!? Has anyone else had this happen? I've looked to see if the guidelines have changed and they haven't from what I read. I even got an email from Microsoft stating the money was sent to my Paypal account. So what I'm getting at is there was no waiting period at all, and yet I still have another $500 in my cashback account still pending due to the 60 day "rule" and yet I make a purchase last night and get the money back IMMEDIATELY. :confused

That's very strange. I guess you should just keep quiet about it and see what happens ;)

Yeah, it IS weird. I even transfered the money to my bank and everything, so its not a "fluke." I want to buy even more now just because the cashback is immediate. But I'm skeptical it will happen again. If anyone is going to use the live.com here soon, please post your experience (ie if the same thing happened to you.)

So, anyone know about the "12 auction rule" ?

Sorry man, I didn't mean to overlook you. I just read up about it and YES it is still limited to 12 purchases per Ebay account.

And I should add too that there is a maximum annual cap of $2500 on cashback rewards.

So here's some more news, I did stubble upon "immediate cashback" on the live.com guidelines page, and basically it says it's Paypal's discretion to do that. They don't really give a basis for the reasoning but they do say getting IMMEDIATE cashback (rather than the 60 wait) is possible.

So it looks like it is hit or miss.

And one last question: If you make a purchase, then return it, does Live.com still credit you back an addition purchase possibility, since you're limited to 12 total? (I know they remove the cashback rewards, but I'm curious as to whether or not they credit you back the eligibility as well.)

Yeah, I made 2 purchases today and have one rebate pending and the other was instantly sent to my paypal account also. Not sure why, but it was nice to get some back already...:D

Edit: Now that I think about it, I made one purchase last night and one today. The one from today is pending. The one from yesterday is the one that gave the money back instantly. I bought it last night and paid for it this morning.

Thanks for the info. here is the question though:

I know that the $2,500 cap is per year but is the 12 auction cap per year as well?

So far I know this much:

- $2,500 cap per year.
- $250 savings cap per auction

But, 12 auction limit: per year per account or per lifetime for account.

If it is the later than I am not seeing how the numbers add up/make sense.

It's a $200 cap per auction now. And I was under the interpretation that it is 12 per lifetime of account or until Microsoft modifies the rules because during the first run, the limit was 3 or 6 uses (I can't remember.) Basically, you were limited to a lot less. Then the live.com cashback was activated a second time and now, it's up to 12 uses.

It was limited to 3 times originally, then 6 I think. I only heard about it being 12 in this thread. I really think that there's a good chance that it'll end before most of us have a chance to use it that many times, though. Either it'll stop all together or the percentage will drop so low that it won't be nearly as good a deal.

This blows...I just did my 5th ebay/live.com transaction this month and none have been instant. Just picked up a Lurtz Exclusive PF
