I dont think Faramir killed LOTR, pacing, pricing and the Hobbits did, Gi Joe is going in the same direction with pacing, slow as hell, pricing on the steady rise and maybe the red ninj and three troopers in a line 8 characters deep is its achilles heal.

I to think SS is getting away from 1:6 and going purely statues, there is simply more profit in it

sigh

Who said Faramir killed LOTR?

Well, truthfully, none of us know the terms and conditions of the Hasbro/SideShow contract, but I would imagine that at some point it will expire. They should be going like gang busters up to that point making figures...... Don't leave money on the table SideShow.

At the time wasnt Faramir the scapegoat for the lines demise??
He was getting bashed endlessly in the LOTR section, no??

Like CK said SS should be striking the iron while its hot, and releasing as many figures, w/o sacrificing quality, as they can.

Like someone said my guess is now Crimson Guard and Stalker for SDCC

The pacing betweem GI Joe and LOTR is incomparable. Duke just released and Flint, Beachhead, Firefly and now Red Ninja are all on preorder!!!

As best I can remember LOTR never had more than 2 figures on preorder at a time. I can understand people not liking certain character choices, but pace is not a problem.

To me pre order means squat, how many do we have in hand for this year? Sniper/Duke/ Firelfy and hoping one of those other makes it in hand
Yes thats does differ from Lotr, I think you only got 2 in hand per year, but its awfully close especially when SS said they were trying to do 6 a year

SDCC will be telling by what we are shown

Here's what I'd love to see, generic similarly equipped Joes, each with new HS and character specific weapons for each of the '82 original RAH characters. Breaker, Flash, Grunt, Rock n' Roll, Short Fuze, Zap, Clutch, Grand Slam, Steeler... We'll never see them if SS don't keep those characters simple and cheap. If they're all under $90 I bet they'd be popular figures.

This is what I'm hoping follows Stalker. They could do them like Cobra trooper variants and charge $89.99 a piece. I would buy most of that list. I would add Doc to it though. He's just as interchangable as the rest of them.

The file card neglected to mention the following, which was released by the Pentagon after an inquiry was made via the Freedom of Information act (Redacted portions from the original file card in bold):

"Sneak Peek is a legend in the Ranger recon battalions. They tell of one mission where his control unit got overrun. In the ensuing confusion, Sneak Peek was never recalled. He stayed put, observing enemy activity, taking notes, and sketching maps for two weeks until somebody remembered he was out there and sent him the signal to return! An official inquiry was conducted to determine how Sergeant Owen King was left behind. Through interviews with subordinates and superiors, it was determined that his battalion despised him, and instead of fragging him thought it would less conspicuous to allow him to fall into enemy hands and be executed. Through satellite surveillance, it was further determined that an enemy patrol came upon Sneak Peek and upon seeing his oversized safety helmet and chest padding, laughed at him and let him continue his child-like sketching. Sgt. King was recalled two weeks later only after family members made an official inquiry on his whereabouts; his superiors had planned on leaving him in country indefinitely"

SSC needs to ride a balance 4 figures on preorder at current prices is $500. If they keep adding figures to the queue then collectors are really forced into decisions about cancelling items and all that.

Before worrying too much, I would say watch what they do once Firefly and Flint releases, do they put new preorders? If they come out and there is nothing to replace them in the queue then its evidence of a slow down, but I think 4 or 5 figures a year is not bad at all considering the prices.

SS's original plan was 4 figures a year anyway. They said they will bump that up to 5-6.

thats nice and all...but we'll be gray and old and not caring about this line by that time with Sideshow moving at that pace...I am not interested in collecting this line for the next 10 years...and alot of people will end up moving onto something else or just drop out...this line cater's to the 30 and up crowd..how long do WE plan on hanging on and given enough to support the line long term?

Then you may want to stop and move along :hi5:

Teemu you say the same thing about MOTUC in it's thread.

I want every GI JOE possible, til I die or the line dies... :goodpost: :exactly:

The same complaints about pacing have been made for what, almost three years now? So when is this line going to actually die? It hasn't even shown signs of slowing down. If it goes another 3-5 years then who cares where its at now, we should have all the main characters plus some by then.
