I don't think the Joe line is any kind of trouble. So jumping into the Red Ninja is a sign is jumping the gun. I really think this is one of those lines Sideshow will get to everything really important. As far as the price hikes. Yeah, people don't care for the increases we've seen and expect to pay yesterdays prices.

Not what I meant at all. Faramir (paint issues aside) would've been a welcome edition if Sideshow had gone deeper into LOTR. But should this line falter within the next couple years, like LOTR did, without the main characters released, people will look at the Red Ninja and wonder why Sideshow made him vs. Gung Ho, Road Block, Destro, etc. That was the context I was referring to.

BTW, I think we may get surprised with the Crimson Guard for SDCC. Sideshow's stated openly he's in the works and that they'd include a Fred sculpt. Plus the fact that he can easily be Pro-based and is, technically, an army builder, makes it that much more likely.

Very possible I think. That makes sense IMO. They would look really cool too and honestly would be push me into getting the Cobra throne.

Glad you clarified, because I had no idea what "a Faramir" referred to :lol

If Sideshow has done this before, then I don't know what to say. But I thought Faramir was a pretty important LOTR character (I guess not).

Maybe you are right about the prices, but to me, once you commit to paying that much money for an action figure, the difference between HT and Sideshow aren't going to seriously affect buying habits. It might affect a small handful of folks, but not the core of the customer base these companies are targeting.

For me, the difference between $60-$70 and $120 meant that I actually cut my purchasing down by like 75%. I used to buy what, like 20 figures a year at $60 each = $1200. Now I buy like 5 figures a year at $120 or worse for SSC I buy them from Hastings for like $70. So my spending is down to about $350-$400.

If prices jumped to $160 I suspect I would just quit collecting altogether. At least I would quit SW and GI Joe.

The only figures I will pay $160 for is Tron and thats only because the movie has never had a 12" figure before.

Faramir was a crucial character in LOTR, however, Faramir < Fellowship and Sideshow failed to produce Merry, Pippin or the biggest crime, Gimli. They also did this with the Highlander line, producing Origins Connor and Duncan without a Medieval Kurgan. The list goes on and on with just about every single one of their "on hold"/canceled 12" licenses, making third-tier characters but never producing key second and in some cases, main characters from a license.

On the price thing, I don't see everybody going that route, but enough to make a dent. Plus it'd be a shame to lose the award-winning customer service you get with Sideshow and have to deal with the "Ignore you until you publicly embarrass us and then we'll make you jump through 6 flaming hoops" tactics of HotToys' customer service. Add to that the increasing QC issues HT's experiencing and the fact that they really don't have a license as big as G.I. Joe or Star Wars and it doesn't bode well for HT.

Well, yes and no. I think folks will cut things down. I've got every joe on order or have everyone. If they make the jump to $160 there's a chance I have to cut back and skip pieces I might buy even at just $40 cheaper. Its a price range that does change things.

One thing too with Faramir. People wanted him to be made badly and when he did folks bailed. Some cause they couldn't get past paying that much for a 1:6th figure, some cause they didn't like that type of item, some cause of the paint issues, and some fanboys had jumped off.

If Faramir was just another figure in a line kicking out a figure every 4 months instead of every 8 months or whatever it was, there would no problem. I'll always believe the poor pace killed the line.

If SS can't continue with the 12" Dead.. what makes you think the Joes will have a indepth line? -just a thought

There are so many named characters that SS could be working on that do not include or need a new body.

I'd like to see sneak peak! :rock

Here's what I'd love to see, generic similarly equipped Joes, each with new HS and character specific weapons for each of the '82 original RAH characters. Breaker, Flash, Grunt, Rock n' Roll, Short Fuze, Zap, Clutch, Grand Slam, Steeler... We'll never see them if SS don't keep those characters simple and cheap. If they're all under $90 I bet they'd be popular figures.

I think we'll see Rock N Roll sooner than later
